Thought we were discussing Rev 19. In Rev 9, Titus laid siege and he used machines which hurled flaming darts over the wall. These machines were called "scorpion machines" because the darts, if they hit you, would be very painful. These darts tormented the Jews inside the city for 5 months, just as the passage says. The Romans were not directly killing hardly anyone during the siege except for some that fled the city or were caught in a skirmish. Those scorpion darts were a major pain as they made it difficult for the Jews to move about outside.
During these 5 months many cried out for death but could not find it. Each morning they woke up still in their miseries.
