The Lord leads, but this I do know , we are to follow The Holy Spirit in our life, and, if the HS convicts you of any matter it will be diametric opposition to His correction and you will be attended to, usually in a great bearable lesson learned.

And, that money going into the 'church coffers' might actually be going to pay the pastor and others' salaries, including YOUR youth leader who will LEAD you on the 'mission trip' you are ONLY giving to God to. Lol, how selfish and crass is the whole above post. Churches have not BLESSED you ever? Lol, start gathering your nickels right now and give ALL that change to God in His house Sunday.

Don't you think too that God will bless you for your best-lamb and not first-fruit to Him? He will !

I apologize, only the first paragraph is selfeshly crass and diametrically opposed to what God wants when it come to tithing at your church. Just give , pray for it going to what is,necessary, and, lol, of course, some goes to the light bil, to heat, for person ( not canuck36) who wont tithe because of thatbwhere money goes. Sigh.....
======
The 2nd paragraph is GOOD, help people on the street, scripture is clear that our helping the,needy gives us reward , surely on esrth , snd, of course, in heaven :) Not being mean, just judging as the Lord leads me.

Yes ! Tithing IS ABSOLUTELY for today . Yes, yes, yes, and, I did a thread just now signifying why.

Overall I think giving to the church is fine. Not everyone is lead by the HS as direct as others. Others have to just go with what they know is the right thing to do. But I know I feel like I did something far better when I give to someone on the street than I ever do at a church. I agree the church people have to take care of all the expenses thats' very true. But there not starving. But anyway it doesn't matter where you give. Each to there own. As long as you're doing something and not hording all your income.

If a Christian chooses not to tithe, I say, go ahead an knock yourself out trying to save that extra 10%. I am more than happy to receive and enjoy the blessings that had your name on it.

I have been consistently and joyfully tithing for the past 8 years and have had steadily increasing net worth/income, supernatural protection, zero enemies, and a bright future. I cannot think of a better way to worship our God than to put our wallet where our mouth is.

Talk of loving God is cheap, tithing is the gold standard of worship.

I have been consistently and joyfully not been tithing all my life and have had steadily increasing income, supernatural protection, the blessing of a wife, the blessing of knowing my future son's name by the Lord Himself, and a bright future. I cannot think of a better way to worship our God than to put our faith into action, by offering our life, and not our money, to the Lord.

tithing is nothing more than a ploy for the pulpit pimps

Tithing
Many churches today continue to teach that believers must give 10% of their income to the church. However, the apostle Paul, our apostle in the dispensation of grace, never once mentions tithing as the prescribed means for giving. On the contrary, Paul says that we should give as we purpose in our hearts, and not of necessity
(2 Cor 9:7). Paul makes it clear that giving in the dispensation of grace is based on a willing mind (2 Cor 8:12), not a fixed percentage of your income.
While it is true that giving is of the highest importance for the support of the ministry, this giving is the result of a grateful heart, not a legal regulation. In fact, the Bible teaches that we are no longer under the law (Rom 6:14; Gal 3:23-25, 5:18). Grace frees us to give from a willing heart, not for the sake of necessity.
My understanding of tithing is that the tithes were to be calculated from the surplus of income, please, someone more knowledgeable on this inform me, cause I just don't know.... example: out 100 in 170 tithes on 70 = 7 (don't I wish)

Tithe means a tenth.
