"In 7:6 Paul shows he's no longer in the flesh, and some folk with him are not as well."

What is this verse you posted? And where does it says that paul the apostles achieved "Perfection"? produce at least a single verse..

the sinful nature is gone, IF YOU ARE INDWELLED BY THE SPIRIT. There is no other way to cut it.
The sinful nature is gone?if you are indwelt by the Spirit? What? sounds unfamiliar to me...can u also produce me some verses to back up this claim of yours ?

My honest question demands an honest answer. Have you ever sinned since you accepted Jesus Christ? yes or no?

God bless

I agree with that, however, we don't stop ourselves from sinning. And if we continue to struggle for that we literally fight AGAINST God for what he plans for us.

We aren't to even be concerned with sinning. It's not about sinning. We are to be concerned with Love our neighbor. And doing the works that love creates. THROUGH THOSE WORKS, scripture writes, we will be matured, or perfected. Same word.
We are to obey the commandments.

You can scroll back and find it. It's not difficult. FIRST you need to find out what the word PERFECT means before you read it. Your eisegetical "squeeze scripture into your presuppositions" approach is getting tiresome.

SECOND since you obviously didn't read anything I posted as I cut and pasted the word in there, maybe you'll actually read my posts before you come back telling me what I believe and don't believe, and what I have read and not read.

John claims to be living without sin as well.

Christ shows it as expected as well.

You are so busy wanting to show me to be wrong, you don't even have a clue what the conversation is. You are really, in essence, destroying lots of strawmen here.
John never once claimed to live with out sin. This is your own private and twisted interpretation of Scripture. This is what John said:
If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8
Notice how he says "UIS"? That means Christians, not unbelievers. How can this fit into your wannabe perfect theology? If we claim we have no sin---this is exactly what you claim and you are deceiving yourself!

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:10
Now you are making God a liar and the truth is not in you.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9
I suggest you do this immediately.

Anger and closing your eyes to other opinions do no one any good. I think that is where we are to be, open to hearing and searching other viewpoints so that we may disect and allow the Spirit of God to work in us on these things.

Where in the bible did you say you read where Paul claimed to be perfect? Or where did he imply this? Did Paul save himself or did Jesus save Paul? If a person is perfect in thought word and deed he has no need for the shed blood of Christ. He can simply walk into Heaven on his own merits.
In philippians chapter 3 verse 12-14 paul says he has not reached the goal or had yet to become perfect but pressed on to the goal, then about 10 to 15 years later in 2 timothy chapter 4 verse 6-8 he said he had reached the goal. So it is possible to be perfect, being perfect means it is no longer you who lives but Christ in you that makes you perfect.

Hi gzusfrk,

Philippians 3:12,13 Paul is referring to running the race, in keeping the faith, believing on Jesus. In this we are to be perfect (without spot and blameless).

You quoted 2Tim 4:6-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Consider also 1Tim 6:12-14
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession (Rom 10:9) in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment (to believe on Jesus) without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing,

Our works are to believe in Jesus, John 6:29.
God's will is that we believe in Jesus, John 6:40.
Jesus' commandment is that we believe in him, John 3:16.
We are born of God when we believe in Jesus, 1John 5:1.
We overcome the world when we believe in Jesus, 1John 5:4,5.

We are to keep this commandment without spot, blameless.

Paul, in 2Tim 4:6-8 finished this race, having fought the good fight, having kept the faith. In this he was perfect, without spot, blameless (1Tim 6:12-14).
