I get the analogy that you're attempting to make, I truly do, but I simply don't believe that it properly represents what the Bible has to say about the relationship between Jesus and the Father.

Without going into too much detail now (I really should be sleeping), I'll say that there was a MAJOR CHANGE after Jesus' incarnation.

In other words, prior to his incarnation, he was only 100% God, but after his incarnation he also became 100% man.

In his humanity, God is Jesus' Father.

However, and, sad to say, this is where I'll probably part company with some of you by simply stating what the Bible actually teaches, even in his 100% God state prior to his incarnation, Jesus and the one whom we call "Father" were NOT the same person.

I mean, this is so easily seen in passages of scripture such as John 1:1, but because people have been so indoctrinated otherwise, they simply can't see it.

Again:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

In the beginning, Jesus was WITH God, and Jesus WAS God.

They are two distinct "persons", for lack of a better word, but they have always been "one" as in "united".

The reason why people don't believe this is because of ridiculous butcherings of scripture on such topics as what it means that Jesus was "begotten".

In other words, people believe things like "Jesus sprang forth from the Father in eternity past...like a ray of light proceeding from the Sun" and other nonsensical garbage like that, but it simply isn't true.

Anyhow, this, in my own observation, is why multitudes of people believe that Jesus and the Father are the same "person", again, for lack of a better term, but they're not.

That said, they are both God, and so is the Holy Ghost/Spirit.

In other words, throughout the Old Testament, beginning with the very first verse of the Bible, God is presented to us in the PLURAL or as a PLURALITY.

How then can this PLURALITY be "one"?

Before I cite you some examples, let's first look at the underlying Hebrew word which is translated as "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4.

The underlying Hebrew word which is translated as "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4 is 'eḥāḏ, and there are clearly instances where this Hebrew word is used in the Old Testament where it is NOT describing a "singularity", but rather a oneness as in "unity".

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one H259 flesh." (Genesis 2:24)

Here, TWO PEOPLE are said to be "one" (eḥāḏ) flesh.

Seeing how this same underlying Hebrew word can mean TWO DIFFERENT THINGS, context is very important.

Going back to our opening text, we read:

Christ, before He became Jesus, was very active in Old Testament times and is very active today. He is the God of the Old Testament perpetrating the Father's will then, now, and in the Future.
In Rev 22: 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
For it to mean one throne for the Father and the Lamb, it would have read but the throne of God and the Lamb. The scripture in Rev 22: 3 means but the throne of God and the throne of the Lamb.
What you have is a kingdom of the Son within the kingdom of the Father and therefore two thrones.

It is not the same thing. God is Almighty and can do anything He wills. Lower beings are the ones that pray to Him because He is Supreme.

How important is it to understand the Trinity? To those that claim that the Trinity is a mystery beyond our understanding, from a brother who loves you, you had better do a better job of investigating before giving up and declaring " It's a mystery." Knowing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the basis for understanding Scripture. Jesus is the Christ. He is our Lord, our God, and our Savior, but the Father is the One God of all ( including Jesus).

It is the Father who is the God of Jesus and who blesses us with spiritual blessings in Christ. We are in Christ when we become part of Christ's body. This happens when we receive the Father's Spirit which was given to Jesus when Jesus was glorified.

Our maker has many appellations < anyone who reads all of the Word is aware of this. The same holds true about Zephaniah's prophecy that He will give us a new name so that all will be able to call upon Him in agreements upon It.

As for further diatribe on this subject, I believe it may become reduced to bickering over words, and this is not my desire. God bless you, and do find peace on this matter. I have.

When Jesus prayed to the Father, was He praying to Himself?

At the time the Son was in the flesh, the Father not so.. but they were still one being, God.

It is beyond human understanding.. not illogical or false... but on a different spiritual level.

I suppose it could be like the body of person communicating with the head or the mind.

The main thing is scripture clearly has Jesus as fully God and fully man, and the Father as fully God.

Jesus now is in heaven, with the Father, but they are not separate beings.

See John 1:1 and Revelation.

In Revelation the Father is referred to as the Alpha and Omega ... so is Jesus.

The Spirit speaks to the churches.. so does Jesus.
