I get the analogy that you're attempting to make, I truly do, but I simply don't believe that it properly represents what the Bible has to say about the relationship between Jesus and the Father.

Without going into too much detail now (I really should be sleeping), I'll say that there was a MAJOR CHANGE after Jesus' incarnation.

In other words, prior to his incarnation, he was only 100% God, but after his incarnation he also became 100% man.

In his humanity, God is Jesus' Father.

However, and, sad to say, this is where I'll probably part company with some of you by simply stating what the Bible actually teaches, even in his 100% God state prior to his incarnation, Jesus and the one whom we call "Father" were NOT the same person.

I mean, this is so easily seen in passages of scripture such as John 1:1, but because people have been so indoctrinated otherwise, they simply can't see it.

Again:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

In the beginning, Jesus was WITH God, and Jesus WAS God.

They are two distinct "persons", for lack of a better word, but they have always been "one" as in "united".

The reason why people don't believe this is because of ridiculous butcherings of scripture on such topics as what it means that Jesus was "begotten".

In other words, people believe things like "Jesus sprang forth from the Father in eternity past...like a ray of light proceeding from the Sun" and other nonsensical garbage like that, but it simply isn't true.

Anyhow, this, in my own observation, is why multitudes of people believe that Jesus and the Father are the same "person", again, for lack of a better term, but they're not.

That said, they are both God, and so is the Holy Ghost/Spirit.
And I hear what you are saying. What you're saying makes perfect sense . . . in fact, to me, what you are saying is nearly undeniable. But it is also undeniable that though there are three separate, totally distinct elements to us all . . . this too, is undeniable. I would go so far as to say that these distinct elements of our own selves is a reflection of the Trinity to help us understand. Is my heart, soul, and body the same thing as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Of course not. But there are [still] a demonstration and example of the constructs of "God."

Again, I get what you're saying.

Basically, although we are "one person", we have three parts that collectively work together to make us "one person".

An example of this would be the following:

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (I Thessalonians 5:23)

In a sense, one might say that, similarly, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost collectively represent the Godhead, BUT this still doesn't make the Godhead "one" as in a "singularity" or as in "one person".

Instead, there are three distinct "persons" (again, for a lack of a better term) who always work together in unison or unity, and in this sense they are "one":

"For THERE ARE THREE that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE. " (I John 5:7)

O hear Israel, the Lord is God, the Lord is ONE. The Trinity is the three aspects of one God, it's like body, soul and spirit of every individual person.

O hear Israel, the Lord is God, the Lord is ONE. The Trinity is the three aspects of one God, it's like body, soul and spirit of every individual person.
In citing this verse, you're only further proving my point.

Allow me to explain...

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:" (Deuteronomy 6:4)

The underlying Hebrew word which is here translated as "God" is 'ĕlōhîm which is the PLURAL form of the Hebrew word 'ĕlôha:

https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h430/kjv/wlc/0-1/

Transliteration
'ĕlōhîm

Pronunciation
el-o-heem'

Part of Speech
masculine noun

Root Word (Etymology)
Plural of אֱלוֹהַּ (H433)

In other words, throughout the Old Testament, beginning with the very first verse of the Bible, God is presented to us in the PLURAL or as a PLURALITY.

How then can this PLURALITY be "one"?

Well, again, the answer is quite simple.

As I rightly mentioned in a previous post, there are many times in the Bible where the word "one" does NOT mean a "singularity", but instead it refers to some sort of "unity".

Before I cite you some examples, let's first look at the underlying Hebrew word which is translated as "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4.

https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/h259/kjv/wlc/0-1/

The underlying Hebrew word which is translated as "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4 is 'eḥāḏ, and there are clearly instances where this Hebrew word is used in the Old Testament where it is NOT describing a "singularity", but rather a oneness as in "unity".

Here are a couple of examples:

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one H259 flesh." (Genesis 2:24)

Here, TWO PEOPLE are said to be "one" (eḥāḏ) flesh.

Again, we read:

"And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, H259 and they have all one H259 language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." (Genesis 11:6)

Here, we have an example where the underlying Hebrew word eḥāḏ appears twice within the same verse, and where it clearly has TWO DIFFERENT MEANINGS within a single verse of scripture.

in the first instance, God describes A GROUP OF PEOPLE who were gathered together to build the tower of Babel as being "one", as in "united" in purpose.

In the second instance, God mentioned how this GROUP OF PEOPLE had "one" language, as in a SINGULARITY, before he confounded their speech.

Seeing how this same underlying Hebrew word can mean TWO DIFFERENT THINGS, context is very important.

Going back to our opening text, we read:

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: " (Deuteronomy 6:4)

Again, here, a PLURAL "God" ('ĕlōhîm), or PLURALITY, or Godhead is said to be "one" (eḥāḏ) as in "united".

I hope that this helps.

He was praying to the Father. Remember always and keep in faith when Moses was told by God, "I will be What I will be." No man understands the mystery of this now, but all will when it is His time. Until then believe in faith and your sould will be at rest on the matter.
Who do you obey
Jehovah or Jesus as your God?

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One. Read Isaiah 9;6 for just a mite of clarification.

Also, the first chapter of the Gospel of John will enlighten much.

B1. Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as He by inheritance obtained a more excellant name than they. Isaiah 43: 10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, that ye may know and believe, and understand that I am He; before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. God the Father existed in Spirit before anything was formed. Christ is the first and only being formed by the Father. That is another reason He is referred to as the Son of God. Christ is the tool that the Father uses to perpetrate His will. In 1 Cor 15: 27-28 the Father puts all things under Christ's feet since all things were created by the Father through Christ. That makes Christ Lord of all creation. As a reward for His perfection and obedience to the point of becoming a human and going through suffering and death, the Father gives Him the title of a God and a kingdom made up of born again believers. No God formed before and no God will be formed after. Christ is our Lord, our Savior, and our God, but the Father is the God of all ( including Christ). Isaiah 44: 1 explains that the Lord is referring to Jacob as His servant and Israel as His chosen.
Heb1: 8 But unto the Son He saith, Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom.
Psalm 45: 6-7 Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter. Thou lovest righteousness and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Heb 1:10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands.
THe beginning starts when the Spirit of the Father forms Christ. The Father has always existed and has no beginning.
John 1: 1-3 In the beginnng was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

B2. Matt 3: 17 And, lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

B3., B4. Matt 16: 15-16 He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

B5,6,7,8,9 Eph 1: 22-23 And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is His body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all.
Through time Christ's body is being filled with the spirits of the saints by the Father who determines when fullness is achieved.
Matt 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There are some standing here, who shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in His kingdom.
The Son has a kingdom and therefore sits on a throne.
Rom 14: 17 For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

B11 Exodus 6: 2-3 And God spoke unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the Lord; And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
Christ, before He became Jesus, was very active in Old Testament times and is very active today. He is the God of the Old Testament perpetrating the Father's will then, now, and in the Future.
In Rev 22: 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
For it to mean one throne for the Father and the Lamb, it would have read but the throne of God and the Lamb. The scripture in Rev 22: 3 means but the throne of God and the throne of the Lamb.
What you have is a kingdom of the Son within the kingdom of the Father and therefore two thrones.
I'm going to continue in the direction that I'm going but stop here for you because I think this answers your question.

If a person who suffers from chronic back pain, for example, says . . . "My body has forsaken me" - Is that person referring to themselves or someone else?
That is not what Jesus said. If He had said that, I would suspect that He was referring to the apostate church.

John 6:66 From that [time] many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

I'm not stupid. I'm NOT saying that that is what Jesus said. I was using an analogy.

Never mind. You've laid into me in the past and I can see that your heart is still hard toward me.

What is the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit seeing that they are one?
Our maker has many appellations < anyone who reads all of the Word is aware of this. The same holds true about Zephaniah's prophecy that He will give us a new name so that all will be able to call upon Him in agreements upon It.

As for further diatribe on this subject, I believe it may become reduced to bickering over words, and this is not my desire. God bless you, and do find peace on this matter. I have.

It is not the same thing. God is Almighty and can do anything He wills. Lower beings are the ones that pray to Him because He is Supreme.

John 17: 3 " And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the ONLY TRUE GOD , and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent."
How important is it to understand the Trinity? To those that claim that the Trinity is a mystery beyond our understanding, from a brother who loves you, you had better do a better job of investigating before giving up and declaring " It's a mystery." Knowing the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the basis for understanding Scripture. Jesus is the Christ. He is our Lord, our God, and our Savior, but the Father is the One God of all ( including Jesus).
Eph 1: 3 Blessed be the GOD and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ,
It is the Father who is the God of Jesus and who blesses us with spiritual blessings in Christ. We are in Christ when we become part of Christ's body. This happens when we receive the Father's Spirit which was given to Jesus when Jesus was glorified.

I have.
Did Jesus disobey any of the commandments of God?

Yes or no?

When Jesus prayed to the Father, was He praying to Himself?
At the time the Son was in the flesh, the Father not so.. but they were still one being, God.

It is beyond human understanding.. not illogical or false... but on a different spiritual level.

I suppose it could be like the body of person communicating with the head or the mind.

The main thing is scripture clearly has Jesus as fully God and fully man, and the Father as fully God.

Jesus now is in heaven, with the Father, but they are not separate beings.

See John 1:1 and Revelation.

In Revelation the Father is referred to as the Alpha and Omega ... so is Jesus.

The Spirit speaks to the churches.. so does Jesus.
