This preaching of CHRIST.
This witnessing of CHRIST.

Is not about us.
It never was.
It is about HIM
That all many come to know and to LOVE.....HIM...for HIM!

And that is because we LOVE HIM...and know THE TRUTH...and THE GRACE...and THE UNFATHOMABLE, LONG-SUFFERING PATIENCE and MERCY of GOD, that HE holds out HIS STRONG ARM OF SALVATION in the form of HIS SON and waits for men to come to HIM...

One day that Year of HIS FAVOR will end.
Therefore, those who were sent to work are working for one purpose...pointing all to the DOOR that all may enter in by way of THE DOOR...

Be like John and his witness.
Don't allow anyone to look at you as if you are anything at all.
Point them to the ONE whom they should look to and look upon and trust and believe in

HIM...the ONE AND ONLY!

hmm.. I have not yet had anyone show me a verse that clearly says a really "saved" person really "lost their salvation."
Hmm! Assuming you are right that there is not verse that clearly says a really "saved" person really "lost their salvation", and assuming I am right that there is no verse that really clearly says that once a person is saved he can never be lost: if both of these are true, then where does that leave us?

It leaves us that neither one should be dogmatic about making statements about either reality (OSAS or "a Christian can be lost").

It leaves both still HOPING and TRUSTING by faith in HIM...and not shrinking back.
Which is the point.

For those who HOPE in HIM are receiving the goal of their faith...even their salvation...

Oh no, not at all.
In fact I would keep your "insight" into the spirits of men only into your own spirit.
As you know according to THE WORD of TRUTH, no one can even know the spirit of a man, save that man...
So you would do better to remember that your opinion of others is just that...an opinion, which may or may not hold true of that person.

Which is why one is told not to judge anything before the time.

You see, when I said no man can teach another man "Know the Lord"...and that because this anointing is real, we know who we learned of and from whom we learned it...

I was considering "we" meaning ALL who have heard the VOICE of THE SON of GOD and have believed and who have been gathered up, transferred out, and are seated in the heavenly realms with (and IN) CHRIST JESUS...

I wasn't saying we meaning you and I as if I were somehow separating myself from ALL who believe and are members of HIS BODY...I was saying we as ALL...with one no greater than or less than the other.
It is easy to know those who have been begotten by God. They become Children of God, and Children of God all obey God’s Commandments. A Child of God never sins.

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is a child of God. This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not live uprightly and does not love his brother is not from God” New Jerusalem bible

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s.”

A Child of God is in Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

(1 John 2:6) “But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did”

I for one choose to believe what John and Jesus said about having eternal life through His completed work on our behalf.

I choose to believe in His love and grace for us, so I do dogmatically say that I am saved forever and if people choose to believe in Christ - they can say the exact same thing. But people are allowed to believe whatever they want about anything.

1 John 5:13 (NASB)

Amen! Hebrews 10:39 - But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. Those who draw back to perdition do not believe to the saving of the soul and those who believe to the saving of the soul do not draw back to perdition.

I respect your post!

I also believe what John and Jesus said about having eternal life. I am believing in Jesus and in Him my destiny and rewards are sure! In Christ as I believe and continue to believe I find continual ongoing assurance of eternal life.

Just reviewed this thread: Lots of good interchange and I learned a lot about what people believe and why.

I have seen a lot of verses that talk about the security of the believer, about the need to keep trusting God, about how we can know that we are saved.

I haven't seen a verse that says that if a person at a point in time believes in Christ that this is a guarantee that he will keep on believing and will get to heaven.

In fact it is clear from Scripture that if a person is not believing in the Son he will not see life:

John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

My conclusion is that there is no verse that clearly teaches "once saved always saved". To believe OSAS you have to make this conclusion from your own interpretation and view of Scripture as a whole.

There are numerous scriptures, but if I had to use just one word........ eternal.

No such thing as conditional life.

As has been said "Salvation is NOT about us!" It is about the character of God. It is about the glory of God! Do you really think God saves people by his power and then casts them out?

Because that would mean God made a mistake in picking that person. It would mean he didn't really know whether that person would make it or not. That is not the God I serve. My God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and omnibenevolent.

That is the character of God - he knows who will be saved- because he is the one who justifies, sanctifies and glorifies. It is never about our works. It is always about God.

And God will not cast people out. Because he knew they would persevere when he saved them. He knows the future because he is above time. As for those people who seem saved, and then fall away from God - were they ever saved in the first place? This is not antinomianism - it is not that saved people fail to walk after God and somehow become unsaved. It is that they were never saved in the first place.

So when you see a person claiming to be a Christian who does not obey his commandments, (the NT ones) and does not follow Jesus, you are probably seeing a person that was never one of us in the first place. Just emotions, or trending or wanting to belong, or wanting to use people or hundreds of other options.

"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us." 1 John 2:19

John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

Contrary to popular belief, eternal life is not primarily about length of life, it is about a relationship with Christ. If a person does not believe in Christ (know Christ) they do not have "eternal life".

It is fine if you want to argue for "once saved, always saved" - but this thread asked if there is a verse that clearly states it.

So am I correct in my understanding that most people in this thread believe in security of salvation?

Amen scriptureplz. Salvation is a free gift from God. We don't become strong Christians overnight, but God wants us to grow and to develop so we can be useful in the kingdom of God. Once saved always saved is a man made doctrine from the Baptist Church. However I don't believe all Baptist Churches believe it. We're saved by grace not works. Read Ephesians 2:8-9 . Works don't get you into heaven.John3:5-7 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again. John3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. Matthew 10:22 "And you will be hated by all for My name's sake, But he who endures to the end will be saved. To walk with God takes faith and courage. God will always be there for his children. Hard times are good for you. It teaches you how to trust in God and totally depend on him. All these Scriptures came from the New King James Version. To God be the glory! Preacha24-7
