Verse for "once saved always saved"?

This is human reasoning based on the definition of the English word "eternal". (My human opinion

The original question in this thread asked if there is a verse that clearly says that once a person he will always be saved.

Yep. People can be religious and do all kinds of deeds in jesus name, but in the end, if he NEVER KNEW THEM, all those works will be useless. And he will say depart from him, to eternal darkness. (There is that eternal word again)

Do you have a Scripture verse that clearly says that once a person has eternal life that they will always have eternal life and that it cannot and never will be lost?

Actually Strong’s is a week, it just gives a general defenition. I used about every greek-English dictionary or lexicon I could find (I have logos bible software. I can look up a word and see its greek defenition with links to over 20 sources) and they all say the same thing.


You have it, The word eternal means forever.

But hey, lets have some more.

John 6, WHoever believes in him will

Never die, Never hunger, Never thirst, live forever. Has passed from death to life. And WILL be (not might be) raised on the last day. Oh, and jesus also said whoever is given to him (those who believe) will never be lost.

So what, we should use a bible written in a flawed language (English) and we are able to twist meaning of words to make them say anything we want them to say (say like. Make eternal not mean eternal?)

Yep. And when he said never die (perish) he did not mean never either.

Which is why he will say "I never knew you..."

Any work of iniquity is denying Him. You do not have to verbally deny Him in order to deny Him.

And that is why Jesus said "I never knew you..." and He said why. Because they were workers of iniquity.

That does not mean they were never saved. It meant because those who profess Him were being workers of iniquity in denying Him, is why He will be denying them... unless they repent before the Bridegroom comes..

it says never perish, And it says has eternal life

You want to ignore two words,

The words are saying if you entrust yourself to him, You will never perish and you have in your possession eternal life.


Either way, You do not stop believing people who never let you down, God is not a human who will let you do0wn, and are untrustworthy. We lose faiht in people who fail us. So to claim you can lose faith in God is to say God will fail you. (remember, we are talking about salvation here, not everyday living)


So if you stop thinking God will save you based on his work on the cross. And that the eternal life he gave you can be lost. Thgen I would question your faith to begin with, You either trust God or you do not.

I find security in John 3:16. It is simply put. It does not have any other meaning except what it says. Now if one wants to change the wording, add to it or either subtract from it, that action is called "choice."

The bible says it and I believe it.
