Was Adam and Eve a newer creation than genesis 1?

Quite simply the Genesis account of creation in chapters 1, 2, and 3 is amazingly accurate and that can only be thanks to divine inspiration, because no way could the Biblical scribe have known that was the way it happened.

Then there is a gap of billions of years when everything in the Garden was lovely until sin stepped in, and the world with all it's wickedness became like it is today.

Fast forward millions of years to about 4000 BC with the birth of the Jewish nation that began with the Israelites and we have a written account of Cain, Able, Adam and Eve.

So chapters one, two, and three describes the creation of all living things including mankind, and then there is a gap of billions of years when we read about the Adam family in chapter four.

I hope that helps.
thanks. do you believe God created more people than Adam and Eve then? elsewhere? thats interesting.

Why does chapter four start out in v.1 with a word that is basically "now the adam [ wə-hā-’ā-ḏām, ]" (and continues on with what he does with "Eve" and that she "bare Cain"), which follows the previous verse which had spoken of "the adam [hā-’ā-ḏām;]" (the one you are saying just means the man [or, "mankind"], not the person we know as "Adam")?

And which one was this: https://biblehub.com/text/1_corinthians/15-22.htm ??

… and (I can't tell) are you saying "the Jewish nation" and "Israelites" started in approx. 4000bc at the time of "Adam and Eve, and Cain and Abel"?? or are you saying something else?

[if you ARE suggesting this, I think I can probably guess why...]

Is the red X something really bad around here? Doesn't it just mean you disagree with a point of view?
For me they are like notches in the belt: a score card for preaching sound doctrine.
especially in the Bible Discussion Forum …
but a white x is only an icon. no different to clicking sad or surprised or boring.

YES - Genesis 1 is the creation of all human groups dispersed throughout the world
Genesis 2 is a very different narrative about two people being formed from existing materials and separated from others
to begin the Bible story to Jesus and to Revelation.
The Garden of Eden was not in Iraq but centred on where Israel & Jerusalem are.
Cain did not marry his sister but a woman outside of his family of three > land of Nod > Sumer? > Sumerian civilization …

There are many who buy the mediaeval Roman Catholic teaching that Adam and Eve were the first two and only human beings on
Earth, and that incest was the way to populate the Earth.
This is the same anti-Biblical church that threatened Galileo and others for their astronomical theories - which generally today
we know that the real Bible is actually quite scientifically accurate.
Many Christians adhering to ancient Roman Catholic teachings also preach a form of Darwinism (evolutionary processes) in
claiming that over a very short period of some 4,000 years human beings "evolved" from three Middle Eastern men to become
the enormously diverse broad spectrum of human beings we have today on the planet.

There is no salvation issue to believing the scriptures about a pre-adamic creation of people in the world.
But Christians love their Sunday School stories more than they love reasoned Bible study.

Genesis begins with the words, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." This is the beginning of time itself, and this is why the Hebrew word yome which is normally taken to mean 24 hours is not applicable here. So, we are going back billions of years to when mankind [male and female v27] were first created. Whether or not God created more people I do not know, but I do know that population quickly explodes and given the time gap between "the beginning" and the relatively modern family of Adam, Eve, Cain, Able, Seth and their sisters, there had been ample time for other nations to form, from the original creation, and settle across Africa and elsewhere. :)

^ So what does the word "yom/yamim [H3117]" mean in Exodus 31:17?

"17 It is a sign between Me and the Israelites forever; for in six days [H3117 yom/yamim] the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day [H3117 - ū-ḇay-yō-wm ] He rested and was refreshed.’"

And (this) Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. (Gen 4:1)

This Adam, is the progenitor of the Jewish nation from who came the second Adam Jesus Christ in whom is found eternal life. He is the progenitor of the heavenly kingdom.

This is a good example of the flexibility of the word 'yom' that also means perpetually or everlasting. So God rested from the creative act for all time, and one day we shall find eternal rest with Him.

You make four major mistakes.
1. The whole globe was not flooded. The Bible is an account Israel and not the nations of the world. The locusts that covered "the whole earth" were local to Israel. Locust do not exist in other parts of the world. When Noah collected all the animals he did not go to the seven continents. Do you think he had penguins, polar bears and kangaroos in the Ark?

2. When Cain fled to another land after killing his brother, people were building a walled city to defend themselves from other nations.

3. Just as the animals were diverse, so were the people of other nations.

4. The earth is billions of years old.
Poppycock <--noun, informal....NONSENSE, Balderdash, garbage, rubbish, blather

Building a city like Jericho suggests there were other people, Cain married one of them. They were playing musical instruments and working in iron. This is late in human history. It took millions of years before people learnt how to make fire.
hahaahhahahhahahhahaha millions of years you say.....wow man....lay off the juice

So, you're saying that the "SIGN" between God and Israel is that they (Israel/humans) will be working for "billions of years" (like God did), and then after that they will rest "for eternity" or "perpetually" (like God did)??

Sorry, I spoke about yome but not about the sign that exists between Israel and God.

It is the keeping of the Sabbath that is the sign of the permanent covenant God made with Israel. This is why in my opinion it is important for Jews to always keep the Sabbath as a reminder of God's covenant with His chosen people.

Yes, the Sabbath [that is, 7th day] is the "SIGN"
Thank you. Since I last posted I have tried to clarify what I wrote and I hope you approve.

In this life we rest of the seventh earthly day (yom) of 24 hours on a weekly basis. This is a sign of God's covenant with Israel.

Then, as with God who finished his work of creation on the 6th heavenly day (yom), and He rested from His work on the 7th day, so too we will we rest when our work on this earth is done and we shall enter our heavenly rest with the Lord. This is when we meet with the Second Adam (Jesus) and this seventh day (yom) which is a heavenly day is everlasting.

Cain's lineage was wiped out in the flood
That definitely depends on how you understand what God is saying, wouldn't you say? That is also quite the emphatic statement to be making seeing as it is in direct conflict to what God says throughout the book. He tells us there are kenites, vagabond Jews, those who say they are Jews but do lie, are of the synagogue of Satan. I must believe Gods Word and so say NO, they weren't wiped out. That leaves the two possibilities. One, 2 of every flesh meant, two of every flesh God wanted aboard that ark and didn't feel the need to fully explain and though we may read of how many souls made it our understanding is flawed somewhere , or the flood was not world wide and just local to the fallen angels, their evil kids, and those who mixed with them which would be their entire BLOODLINE of Christ world. Either way, the mystery of iniquity makes it to the very end. There is good, and there is evil all the way through to the lake of fire, I believe.

You can EITHER believe that an ALL powerful God created us as were are now and have been since the day we were created and it was very good, having purpose in mind, or you can believe in evolution where we are just animals meandering around by chance and happenstance in a world not created by GOD. You can't be a little pregnant or kinda have faith, it is ALL or nothing. God is either our creator or a product of our imagination.
