The Lord does not open the eyes of those who are willfully blind. In fact he reinforces their blindness, so that seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear. IT IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THING FOR ANYONE TO PERSIST IN HIS OR HER ERRORS.
That's your excuse on the day of judgment for not believing what I have preached to you.

Were they added because they repemnted and believed.. or were they added because they were baptized?
They were added because they believed (not mentioned, - John 8:24), because they repented (Luke 13:5), because they confessed Christ before men - Luke 12:8), because they were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19) and it was for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38) upon which they would be given the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38, John 14:23, and Acts 19:1-5) and thus were added to the body of Christ by God (Acts 2:47).

Romans 8:9-11 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.

I pray, Grace, that this is a help.

God bless you,

"To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." Acts 10:43
Through His name believers receive remission of sin...When is the name applied in connection with remission of sin?

"Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord." Acts 10:47-48

"Repent, And be baptized everyone one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sins." Acts 2:38

your ego is showing again
It is certainly not confidence in myself, but faith in a conditional promise, that leads me to believe that I have the Holy Ghost and that what I am preaching is from the Holy Ghost.

I am saying that the Holy Ghost is promised to those who are baptized in Jesus' Name. It is unlikely that those who disagree with me have been thus baptized.

He doesn't know of any; or he would have quoted them by now.
Abba, I pray that you convict @Ted01 for that "x" in Jesus' Name.

Well, here are a few scriptures that give a reason or purpose for being baptized.

Mark 16:15-16 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 16:13-15 And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to a riverside, where we were supposing that there would be a place of prayer; and we sat down and began speaking to the women who had assembled. 14 A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul. 15 And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

Acts 19:1-5 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. 2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." 4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Acts 22:16 'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'

Romans 6:3-7 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin.

Galatians 3:24-27 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, LOVE your wives, just as Christ also LOVED the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the declaration, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

Colossians 2:11-13 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

1 Peter 3:20-21 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through the water. 21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves us, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

I pray that this might help.

It is the same chapter and therefore in the immediate context.
Same chapter does not automatically make it in the same context. Again, Jesus' conversation with Nicodemus is over with and He has moved on. John 3:22 - After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He was spending time with them and baptizing. Next..

Not sure I agree or get what you saying. Does not 1 Co 3:5-16 possibly apply?
That passage does not apply in this situation. That is about judging the works of Christians. However when a false Gospel is being promoted, then this passage applies: But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Gal 1:8,9)

Every Christian has a duty to carefully learn what is the true Gospel of God, and hold fast to it. There can be no deviations since the salvation of souls is at stake. And that is why Paul made this very serious statement. Paul also told us that Christ sent him out to preach the Gospel, NOT to baptize. Had water baptism been critical for salvation, he could never have made that statement. That did not mean that Paul was disregarding baptism. Rather he was teaching us that salvation is purely by the grace of God and based upon the finished work of Christ. Nothing may be added to that (Eph 2:8-10).

Since I know Mark 16 and Matthew 28, the Baptism parts, were ADDED later [we have PROOF] that means, Jesus DID NOT COMMAND to be Water Baptized. So, Water Baptism, comes from the Apostles. Since, Jesus, did not command for it, you have no point to make in this Discussion!
It is questionable whether or not the end portions of Mark and Matthew were actually corrupted. However, prior to His ascension, Jesus prophesied that repentance and remission of sin would be preached in His name in all nations BEGINNING in Jerusalem. (Luke 24:47) The NT message initially presented in Jerusalem at Pentecost included the need for repentance, and modified water baptism to include the use of Jesus' name. If that is not convincing, note Luke's comment concerning Jesus giving the apostles commands via the Holy Ghost after His ascension.

Acts 1:1-3I
The former treatise (Book of Luke) have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he (Jesus) through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:"

Personally, I find it inconceivable that the apostles would institute water baptism in the name of Jesus, or any command of their own volition.

Good question!

I think that the more important words are "...had received his word...", (not that baptism is not important).
I see in the situation that the previously, unbelieving people (Jews?) heard and received the Gospel message... it's after that they were baptized and entered into the fellowship of believers.
The word they received included the need to be baptized. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. They believed the message and obeyed the command.

Baptism for the remission of sins is not the cause but the moment in time of salvation.
Actually the Bible is perfectly clear -- starting with the words of Christ -- that it is REPENTANCE which is necessary for the remission of sins. Not baptism.

And [Christ] said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. (Luke 24:46-48)

And that is exactly what Peter did: But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:18,19)

So why did Peter include baptism in Acts 2:38? It was probably in anticipation of all the false teachings which would come later. What he was doing there is simply showing the very close connection between salvation and baptism. just as Christ did in Mark 16:16. So once again it is our solemn duty to examine all the Scriptures, and then show what is the true Gospel.
