Nope. . .not according to the NT word of God.

"the result of one trespass (by Adam) was condemnation for all men" (Ro 5:18).

We are "by nature (Gr: phuse--"natural born") objects of wrath" (Eph 2:3)
because of the "one trespass of Adam which condemns all men" (Ro 5:18),
just as a natural born (Gr: phuse) Jew is a Jew by birth (Gal 2:15).

We are by nature
(which we are born with) objects of wrath (Eph 2:3).

The NT is clear.

Your problem is unbelief of the plain word of God

because it does not follow the logic of Skinski7ism,

but is according to the divine wisdom.
You take Eph 2:3 and use it as a proof text that human beings are born objects of wrath.

Firstly that implication maligns the character of God by implying that His wrath abounds on an innocent baby who has done nothing wrong. You honestly believe that a new born baby is wicked and evil, of no choice of its own, and deserves to be cast into the Lake of Fire.

Think about that for a minute.

On the one hand you will assert that God is righteous and just, and yet on the other hand you will assert that God is righteous and just in condemning an infant to the Lake of Fire because Adam sinned. Not only that but you assert that God is righteous and just for condemning sinners to the Lake of Fire because they don't do what they were never able to do. You must be out of your mind to believe that. Surely believing such a thing is unconscionable.

When professing Christian's spout that kind of rhetoric is it any wonder that people scorn the God of the Bible?

When you remove human responsibility from the equation both sin and righteousness lose all meaning. If human beings are born as sin robots then they are not rebels anymore than television is a rebel because it cannot refrigerate a drink.

How did it come to this where Christianity is full of such foolishness? Oh the mind of God is so incomprehensible that plain logic is to be thrown out the window? Is that what you tell yourself?

Paul in writing Eph 2:3 uses the word "Phusis" which we have translated to "nature" in English.

Eph 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

If Paul is referring to a "birth nature" and thus "natural inability to do anything but sin" then why does Paul use the same word in Romans 2?

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

If people by "nature" do evil how is it by the same "nature" they do good? I assert that they don't. I assert that our nature develops over time as a result of whether we obey God or not. If we choose sin then we develop a sinful nature and if we yield ourselves to God then we develop a godly nature.

It is quite well known in this technological age that the human brain wires itself in accordance with our conduct. Addiction is often simply the result of the development of neurological pathways in the brain where the brain has adapted to the release of dopamine in accordance with some kind of conduct in an individual. A cocaine addict uses a physical substance to effect a release in the pleasure centers of the brain whilst a pornography addict uses visual images to effect the same thing. In both cases the brain adapts to this release and a removal of the stimulus creates a very powerful longing and thus the addict is strongly compelled to repeat the behaviour.

This is why sin leads to bondage. This is why the old man must be crucified through godly sorrow working a genuine repentance. The mind has to change and be yielded to the power of God to find that strength to endure temptation, temptation that lessens as the brain rewires itself to become addicted to God.

The commentators who use Eph 2:3 as a proof text for being "born a sinner" very conveniently ignore Rom 2:14-15.

I have mentioned this countless times on this forum but people ignore it. They just keep quoting Eph 2:3 as if Rom 2:14-15 does not exist.

Elin you quote this verse too...

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

So let me understand this. If Adams sin automatically condemns everyone that must mean that by the righteousness of Jesus the free gift justifies all men also.

Oh it doesn't? Why not?

You say the New Testament is very clear.

Is this clear...

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1Pe 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1Pe 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

There is that 1Pe 2:24 that you proof texted to support Penal Substitution (your legal swap which cloaks ongoing iniquity). I'll quote some of the verses before it so as to show the greater context which teaches that Jesus left us an example that we follow in His footsteps. An example which you must believe is impossible because everyone is born a sinner and thus totally disabled.

Here is the definition of Nature from Strong's Concordance.

G5449
φύσις
phusis
foo'-sis
From G5453; growth (by germination or expansion), that is, (by implication) natural production (lineal descent); by extension a genus or sort; figuratively native disposition, constitution or usage: - ([man-]) kind, nature ([-al]).

Now here is where it really gets interesting. Strong's is but a summary whilst Thayer's addresses definitions in much more depth.

Thayer's Greek Lexicon

STRONGS NT 5449: φύσις

φύσις, φύσεως, ἡ (from φύω, which see, as Latin nature from nascor, ingenium from geno, gigno), from Homer, Odyssey 10, 303 down; nature, i. e. a. the nature of things, the force, laws, order, of nature; as opposed to what is monstrous, abnormal, perverse: ὁ, ἡ, τό παρά φύσιν, that which is contrary to nature's laws, against nature, Romans 1:26 (οἱ παρά φύσιν τῇ Ἀφροδιτη χρώμενοι, Athen. 13, p. 605; ὁ παιδεραστής ... τήν παρά φύσιν ἡδονήν διώκει, Philo de spec. legg. i., § 7); as opposed to what has been produced by the art of man: οἱ κατά φύσιν κλάδοι, the natural branches, i. e. branches by the operation of nature, Romans 11:21, 24 (Winer's Grammar, 193 (182)), contrasted with οἱ ἐγκεντρισθεντες παρά φύσιν, contrary to the plan of nature, cf. 24; ἡ κατά φύσιν ἀγριέλαιος, ibid.; as opposed to what is imaginary or fictitious: οἱ μή φύσει ὄντες θεοί, who are gods not by nature, but according to the mistaken opinion of the Gentiles (λεγόμενοι θεοί, 1 Corinthians 8:5), Galatians 4:8; nature, i. e. natural sense, native conviction or knowledge, as opposed to what is learned by instruction and accomplished by training or prescribed by law: ἡ φύσις (i. e. the native sense of propriety) διδάσκει τί, 1 Corinthians 11:14; φύσει ποιεῖν τά τοῦ ναμου, natura magistra, guided by their natural sense of what is right and proper, Romans 2:14.

b. birth, physical origin: ἡμεῖς φύσει Ἰουδαῖοι, we so far as our origin is considered, i. e. by birth, are Jews, Galatians 2:15 (φύσει νεώτερος, Sophocles O. C. 1295; τῷ μέν φύσει πατρίς, τόν δέ νόμῳ πολίτην ἐπεποιηντο, Isocrates Evagr. 21; φύσει βάρβαροι ὄντες, νόμῳ δέ Ἕλληνες, Plato, Menex., p. 245 d.; cf. Grimm on Wis. 13:1); ἡ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία, who by birth is uncircumcised or a Gentile (opposed to one who, although circumcised, has made himself a Gentile by his iniquity and spiritual perversity), Romans 2:27.

c. a mode of feeling and acting which by long habit has become nature: ἦμεν φύσει τέκνα ὀργῆς, by (our depraved) nature we were exposed to the wrath of God, Ephesians 2:3 (this meaning is evident from the preceding context, and stands in contrast with the change of heart and life wrought through Christ by the blessing of divine grace; φύσει πρός τάς κολασεις ἐπιεικῶς ἔχουσιν οἱ Φαρισαῖοι, Josephus, Antiquities 13, 10, 6. (Others (see Meyer) would lay more stress here upon the constitution in which this 'habitual course of evil' has its origin, whether that constitution be regarded (with some) as already developed at birth, or (better) as undeveloped; cf. Aristotle, pol. 1, 2, p. 1252{b}, 32f οἷον ἕκαστον ἐστι τῆς γενέσεως τελεσθεισης, ταύτην φαμέν τήν φύσιν εἶναι ἑκάστου, ὥσπερ ἀνθρώπου, etc.; see the examples in Bonitz's index under the word. Cf. Winers Grammar, § 31, 6a.)).

d. the sum of innate properties and powers by which one person differs from others, distinctive native peculiarities, natural characteristics: φύσις θηρίων (the natural strength, ferocity and intractability of beasts (A. V. (every) kind of beasts)), ἡ φύσις ἡ ἀνθρωπίνῃ (the ability, art, skill, of men, the qualities which are proper to their nature and necessarily emanate from it), James 3:7 (cf. Winer's Grammar, § 31, 10); θείας κοινωνοί φύσεως, (the holiness distinctive of the divine nature is specially referred to), 2 Peter 1:4 (Ἀμενωφει ... θείας δοκουντι μετεσχηκεναι φύσεως κατά τέ σοφίαν καί πρόγνωσιν τῶν, ἐσομενων, Josephus, contra Apion 1, 26).
Strong's Greek: 5449. φύσις (phusis) -- nature

The wolves in the pulpits and seminaries will never show people this.

See how Elin above picked the definition that suited the presupposition of her theology. See how Elin ignores Rom 2:14-15 when using the word nature to prove birth depravity.

All the theologians and pastors who preach these lies do the same thing. It is amazing what one can find when one begins to check things out.

People are easily deceived when they take something for granted without investigating. Once a person accepts a deception as true then they become emotionally tied to that deception, especially as they invest more and more time into it. It is then they they will, often without thinking, manipulate things in order to deal with cognitive dissonance which it arises.

This is why we must be diligent in seeking truth and we must make sure our heart is right. Sin is deceitful the Bible says and it does lead to ruin.

I believed in the "born a sinner" teaching for many years and would even teach it to others. I was incredibly deceived. This doctrine prevented me from coming clean with God because I believed my choices has nothing to do whether I would be saved or not, thus I continued to live a reasonable moral life yet still chased after idols hoping that God would one day change may. I refused to take responsibility for my own choices and thus refused to submit myself to God.

Don't be caught in the same delusion as I was. Original Sin/Birth Depravity is a very dangerous thing to believe as it redefines the entire Gospel.

I put the following video together a couple of years ago. The audio is done by another but I was able to duplicate his research and annotate most of what he says by putting pictures of the references he uses to his words.

The early church preached a completely different Gospel message to that which is generally preached today and this video reveals why.

It's nothing fancy but the research is sound.

Wow! You guys finally got somebody on the couch! Okay, then. Stand back, got to get them in while there's this small window of opportunity, I know it seems implausible it will do any good, but my name is Don, Don Quixote, and that will be shaken, and stirred,

Galatians 4:9-11 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Romans 7:4-6 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Galatians 2:4-5 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: to whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Galatians 5:13-14 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

1 John 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Galatians 5:16-18 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Galatians 2:18-21 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

2 Corinthians 3:3-6 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Romans 8:1-9 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Matthew 7:3-5 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

There you go again, JesusIsAll you goat, cherry picking half the Bible!

It is because they have forsaken my law, which I set before them; they have not obeyed me or followed my law."

The psalmist said: "The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. Lots Of Verses

There you go again, JesusIsAll you goat, cherry picking half the Bible!
No-one is saying that you have to obey the Law of Moses to be saved.

All those verses you quote have to do with keeping the rituals and rites of the Mosaic Covenant. We are not saved by not eating pork, by keeping feasts, by being circumcised, rather we are saved by grace THROUGH faith which is simply yielding ourselves to the Spirit of God and being led directly.

Those whom are in Christ are not being led by statutes of law, rather they are led by the Spirit of Christ.

To take those passages and imply that obedience to God is unnecessary is absolute nonsense. Jesus said FOLLOW ME.

Paul was not teaching that you don't have to follow Jesus or that you don't have to yield to the teachings of Jesus. If Paul taught that he would be against Christ or antichrist.

We are not in bondage to the rules and regulations of the Mosaic Law. Rather we are in bondage to righteousness through abiding in the Spirit of the life of Christ.

Look at what Paul writes here...

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

In other words we are not justified by going out and getting circumcised or anything like that, rather righteousness is through FAITH and FAITH WORKS BY LOVE.

If we love we don't need, "though shalt not kill" or "thou shalt not steal." The letter of the law becomes obsolete when we walk in the Spirit. This is why Paul writes...

Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Being led of the Spirit means our hearts are yielded to God. One cannot walk after the Spirit and go and fornicate and steal things. Anyone who fornicates or steals things is still under the law because they need a list of DO's and DON'Ts to regulate their behaviour.

You see in salvation we are saved from the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

We are saved from this...

Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Not saved from temptation itself but saved from yielding to temptation. That is why Paul taught...

Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

But you see people who do not want to forsake their sin in repentance and thus do not want to crucify their flesh with the passions and desires will easily choose a teaching which denies that they have to. That would be the base reason that so many people buy into the birth depravity teaching. It allows them to accept a theology which is built on top of it where they can still sin and not surely die, so long as they trust in Jesus.

Elin said:
Note the "imputed righteousness" which you deny of those in Christ.

Yes, Abraham was the father of both believing Gentiles and believing Jews who had the same faith as Abraham and walked in that faith.

Nope. . .we are credited with righteousness because of faith,
and then we "walk in the steps of faith."

You keep trying to slip works in as the cause of our justification.
That is anti-gospel.

We are credited with righteousness because of faith,
and then we "walk in the steps of faith."
You slip wickedness inbetween the imputation and the walk because
you disconnect faith from deeds.
Only in Skinski7ism is faith separated from its necessary obedience.

The doctrine of substitution is Jesus receiving in my stead the punishment due on my guilt
(Is 53:5; 1Pe 2:24).

Not only do you not understand the doctrine of substitution,
you also confuse justification and sanctification.
Oh I understand the doctrine of substitution alright, I have studied it,
Which obviously does not prove understanding.

As proof for this false doctrine you refer to Isa 53:5 and 1Pet 2:24...

Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

...neither of which say anything about Jesus absorbing your punishment in your stead.
Perhaps a good English dictionary would be helpful in the meaning of "chastisement."

Likewise, a good NT dictionary of the Greek might do wonders for your understanding of "propitiation."

And even more important, a good understanding of NT teaching regarding our being enemies of God
until Christ, through his propitiation on the cross, made peace with, and reconciled to God
those who believe in his propitiation (Ro 3:25).

And post #269, here, as well as
post #271, here, still remain on the table unaddressed by you.

You don't say! Why, who'd have ever known? It's too late for everybody who's already dead, but you need to get this out to all the Christians of the world, immediately, and thank you so much for that milk of the word. Who'd have ever guessed... though I seem to remember this coming up in Sunday school...

But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says YHWH: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them." - Hebrews 10:15-16

Against such there is no law. - Galatians 5:23

The word law expressed in both Scriptures are from the Greek word nomos which also stands for Mosiac law.

We establish or fulfill the law by loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves.

Nope. . .not what the NT says.

I don't have the power nor authority to "establish the law."

Let us throw out Romans 3:31 Rom 3:31 Accordingly, do we render law useless through THIS faith? May it not be so. But RATHER, we establish law.

Sure you have the power and the authority, it is called faith, seeing that faith establish law.

And you do not think we do not also. How about harmonizing Scripture instead of choosing what your ear itch for.

Paul did! And notice the subject here is not singular...

Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
She knows that. But at that time it did not suit her purpose.

My point exactly.

So I ask you the same.

If there is no difference, why do you need more than Christ's new covenant command
(Mt 22:37-39)?
Because this Christ you speak, is the same LORD who spoke His will into words which were written down for us to walk His righteous path.

It says LOVE FULFILLS the Law (God's Law)....If Love fulfills the Law, then it is the Law which we are fulfilling when we do acts of Love.

So when people go about downplaying God's Law which HE HIMSELF wrote on our hearts, as though it is something to be toss out with the Law of sin and death, giving it no more consideration then one would to gum on the ground, then people of that sort need to be told their teaching of lawlessness, even though they know Rom 3:31 says that WE CHRISTIANS by our faith establishes (upholds. continues) law. (that is what you call long-winded...lol)

If people would stop ignoring verses for the sake of their religious believes, and accept all of Scripture for what it says, then there would be none of us who keep God's Law arguing that we are to be obedient. Give me a break, if Scripture says that we establish law, then stop making law void and start establishing the law which we are in under the New Covenant. Let us not be those who have no law.

So, the difference is: who defines what love is? Yes, God. You know as well as I, that we all have a different, and sometimes pervasive, idea what love is (use your imagination). So, how are we to know how God defines love if we throw His Law in with the Law of sin and death, and render it useless because we are not under that law, but under grace? How do we tell people that worshiping a statue is not loving God, if we void even His Law? Yet, we ALL tell people that they are not to worship a statue, and turn around and say that we are under no law, EVEN though we just told them a law? You see, those who disown God's Laws would readily tell others of law and then slap God in the face by saying grace only, although it says that we establish law.

God's Law is the defining of what love is to Him. We cannot throw that out, we need a base to tell others of God's Attributes, of what offends Him, of what pleases Him, of what He expects of us, of what the consequences are if we disobey, of what the benefits are if we obey. Let us let God define what Love is.

And God's Law? By doing that, we are holier than thou? You are so against law, that you fail to see that we are still under law as Christians.
Blatant...

For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
(Rom 6:14-15)

Talking about harmonizing Scripture.
