Inspired by the 'The Not By Works' Thread

I don't want to start a heated exchange.
I was just wondering what people think of as their works.

I expect there will be different ideas about what Christian works are and some of the more modest people don't like looking as if they are "boasting" about themselves. We aren't all missionaries in Bangladesh or voluntary care workers though. So what are your works?
(if any)

My Works are that! .. I have no works. I only have a relationship with God. If I had works!... It would too be in the Spirit and not in the flesh. But anything I do on my own is useless to God, So the work I do?..Is to be in communication with the Lord. To be in Gods will, and not of my own. The only works I have done the last couple of years is that of worldly pursuits.
That is my confession. And I am not even Catholic. lol

Usually worldly pursuits leave you feeling empty at least that is what I have found to be true in my life. Unless God is the focus nothing else really matters. Just empty and hurting. At least it was how I felt.

When asked, "What must we do to perform the works of God?", Jesus replied in John 6:29, "This is the work of God: to believe in the One He has sent."

and so I believed, and the wage of this work...

"For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world [John 6:33].

not your ordinary sort of pay but neither is believing any ordinary sort of work...

"For it is My Father's will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." [John 6:40]

After receiving such a generous wage, what is there left to do but bank it, and live on the interest it generates?

As I collect more toys that are healthy hobbies. Dirt bikes, Mtn bikes, etc. Which I do thank the Lord for the purchases. I do buy them for use, not show. I too know that nothing that this world has to offer even comes close to the Joy one receives having Jesus working in ones life. I miss them days.
Seems I may have to forgive some miss behaving Church goers from 2012. Maybe even a Pastor. Didn't think it effected me at the time. Feeling some resistance getting back to a church. Keeping on Topic! Thats nothing im going to Work on. :) Just lay that issue at Jesus feet.

Well since faith without works is dead

James 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

James 2:17, "So also belief, if it does not have works, is in itself dead."

James 2:22, "Do you see that the belief was working with his works, and by the works the belief was perfected?"

James 2:24, "You see, then, that a man is declared right by works, and not by belief alone."

James 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

James 2:14, “My brothers, what use is it for anyone to say he has belief but does not have works? This belief is unable to save him.”

Our works should be doing what the Messiah said to do:

John 14:23-24, “יהושע answered him, “If anyone loves Me, he shall guard My Word. And My Father shall love him, and We shall come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not guard My Words. And the Word which you hear is not Mine but of the Father Who sent Me.”

John/Yahanan 10:27-30, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; neither will any man snatch them out of My hand. My Father, Who gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand: I and My Father are in accord."

John/Yahanan 5:46-47, "For had you believed Mosheh, you would have believed Me, for he wrote about Me*. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"

*Mosheh wrote:

Deuteronomy 18:18-19, "I (YHWH) will raise up for them a Prophet (Yahshua/Jesus) like you from among their brothers, and I will put My words in His mouth, and He will tell them everything I command Him. Whoever will not listen to My words, which He speaks in My Name, I will judge him for it"

"listen" is word #8085 - שָׁמַעshama` {shaw-mah'}

Brown-Driver-Briggs (Old Testament Hebrew-English Lexicon)
A primitive root; to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.; causatively to tell, etc.)

Hebrew Word Study (Transliteration-Pronunciation Etymology & Grammar) - 1) to hear, listen to, obey

John/Yahanan 12:48, "He who rejects Me, and does not follow My words has One Who judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same will be used to judge him in the last day."

John/Yahanan 15:5-16, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, produces much fruit; but without Me, you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away like a branch, and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and letting My words; abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it will be done for you. In this is My Father glorified: when you produce much fruit; and in this way you become My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you; continue in My love. If you keep My Commands, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's Commands, and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be complete. This is My Command: Love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: that one would lay down his life on behalf of his brothers. You are My brothers, if you do whatever I command you.”

Falling in His Hands is a good place to Learn to Love. "Faith works by Love," The work, learning to believe the work of God.
"Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God, If we are in the will of God we enter His rest, so that work is no longer work.

Does believing the One sent mean doing what He said or just believeing that He is?

John 6:26-66, "6:26, "יהושע answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were satisfied."6:27, "“Do not labor for the food that is perishing, but for the food that is remaining to everlasting life, which the Son of Aḏam shall give you, for the Father, YHWH, has set His seal on Him.”6:28, "So they said to Him, “What should we do to work the works of YHWH?”"6:29, "יהושע answered and said to them, “This is the work of YHWH, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”"6:30, "So they said to Him, “What sign then would You do, so that we see and believe You? What would You do?"6:31, "“Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it has been written, ‘He gave them bread out of the heaven to eat.’ ” "6:32, "Therefore יהושע said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, Mosheh did not give you the bread out of the heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread out of the heaven."6:33, "“For the bread of YHWH is He who comes down out of the heaven and gives life to the world.”"6:34, "So they said to Him, “Master, give us this bread always.”"6:35, "And יהושע said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall not get hungry at all, and he who believes in Me shall not get thirsty at all."6:36, "“But I said to you that you have seen Me, and still do not believe."6:37, "“All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I shall by no means cast out."6:38, "“Because I have come down out of the heaven, not to do My own desire, but the desire of Him who sent Me."6:39, "“This is the desire of the Father who sent Me, that all He has given Me I should not lose of it, but should raise it in the last day."6:40, "“And this is the desire of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him should possess everlasting life. And I shall raise him up in the last day.”"

I assume this was to me? I don't see a problem, does it make the passages I posted less or more true if I copy/paste or hand type them?

Actually, I wasn't sure, so I asked the question in general. The first line in your most recent post related to what I had written previously, but then was followed by what I assumed to be your answer to the question you posed.... so, I wasn't sure whether I should consider the post as conversation or as a lecture.

No I didnt mean it in that way, I actually mant to quote your post and when I started typing and pasting I forgot to. But none the less I think this is a very serious question for all who have faith that the Messiah came in the flesh, was sacrificed and resurrected. As to me it seems many have gotten away from a religion from Him to a religion about Him. I very serious issue IMO.

Okay, thanks, just as long as you are not suggesting that I consider my faith in Him a joke, even if others might.

Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to Yah has to believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.”

I take all sincerity in and about YHWH to be very serious. It is the purpose of our existence and the highest calling one can walk in. If someone makes it a joke then I can not at that time take that person serious, such as someone who would calim Yahshua/Jesus but join like a witches cult or freemasonry or something like that, I could not believe that person to be sincerely seeking Yah. But nothing you have said in any way shape or form would even give me thought that you were not sincere, while I am not perfect in obedience I think it of upmost importance for those that name Messiah to obey Him, for if we are His we would seek this, I think that to be fact. We all slip and stumble and we all are in different places, but the important thing is that we keep our eyes on Him.

I agree. Why should or would anyone obey except that he or she trusted a person to have spoken truth to them with all sincerity? This is my understanding of having faith in someone, and not so much the believing a person existed as opposed to being mythical sort of faith.

I would say I have a similar view. and I think that is the spark in our hearts, when we see and believe the words spoken by Yahshua are so pure and right, that what He did was the ultimate act of love and this is for me what really allowed Yah to change and guide me in a way that I began to accept it and not reject it. DO not quench the Spirit...

Whatever the Lord says to us should be considered a 'lecture/instruction !

sadly too many just want to air their opinions and disagreements.
