Whatever the Lord says to us should be considered a 'lecture/instruction !

sadly too many just want to air their opinions and disagreements.
Is this an opinion or a disagreement?

Eph 2:10* For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The Pharisees bragged about all the wonderful things they did....the number is plenteous thay comes before the throne boasting of their works and religion in the name of Jesus while claiming they know Jesus and should be allowed to enter....they get cast.....Those who have believed the correct message by faith are born from above and have already done the work of the Heavenly Father.....An apple tree is an apple tree from the moment it sprouts from a seed LONG BEFORE IT PRODUCES 1 PIECE OF FRUIT....a simple cup of cold water will not go unoticed and or unrewarded.... <---God takes great pleasure in faith and the simplest of acts....

Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to Yah has to believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.”

I take all sincerity in and about YHWH to be very serious. It is the purpose of our existence and the highest calling one can walk in. If someone makes it a joke then I can not at that time take that person serious, such as someone who would calim Yahshua/Jesus but join like a witches cult or freemasonry or something like that, I could not believe that person to be sincerely seeking Yah. But nothing you have said in any way shape or form would even give me thought that you were not sincere, while I am not perfect in obedience I think it of upmost importance for those that name Messiah to obey Him, for if we are His we would seek this, I think that to be fact. We all slip and stumble and we all are in different places, but the important thing is that we keep our eyes on Him.
I take YHVH very seriously but there is a time for every purpose.

Psalm 2:4

The One enthroned in heaven laughs;

the Lord scoffs at them.

Is saying we should obey Yahshua/Jesus the same as the Pharisees bragging?

Of course not. So is obedience to The Lord actually a 'work' then?
I don't see it as a work but a joy, however I do think this is what Yaaqob/James is talking about twhen he says "works"

but it is:

freedom from the sorrows of the world that come from wicked ways,

freedom from sin,

freedom from causing pain to others,

freedom from being a slave to the adversary.

I call it love.

Am I always perfect? No, I am not.

However I do know that His way is best in every situation, and while I don't think am better than anyone if I do happen to do His will it does feel right and comforting. Obedience to His ways are life in a multitude of ways. How obedience has become a "dirty word" is evidence that the Mystery of Iniquity is indeed a reality.

“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. (2 Cor 10:17-18)

being reluctant to talk about "my works", perhaps a better way to go about it might be talking about what God has done for us through the actions of others? or better yet, what the Scriptures say God considers a good work, done for the benefit of other people?

motives count, yes?

Many consider 'w o r k to be a dirty 4letter word....it's of course alright for Jesus and the Father to work their fingers to the bone....but not for Us !

Good morning, opened the bible to "whoever has this Hope in Him purifies himself even as He is pure."
This clears up who is being saved, "Christ in you the Hope of Resurrection."
Not that we can judge others as we go through many ups and down before entering into rest.
We also see that it's not of works as its having "This Hope in Him."

The Christians works must only be an act of faith, and never an act of labor (Hebrews 4:11). Therefore this can only be done by placing and maintain Faith exclusively in Christ and Him crucified, i.e., The Finished Work, i.e., The Blood of Jesus (The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus - Romans 8:2). The Holy Spirit who works strictly between the perimeters of Christ and the Cross will then accomplish this for the Believer.

Inspired by the 'The Not By Works' Thread

I don't want to start a heated exchange.
I was just wondering what people think of as their works.

I expect there will be different ideas about what Christian works are and some of the more modest people don't like looking as if they are "boasting" about themselves. We aren't all missionaries in Bangladesh or voluntary care workers though. So what are your works?
(if any)
John 2:5 His mother told the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."

Like your post above Shamah aka Hiz.

You are right in that obedience is not a work but I do feel at times we have to work to be obedient.

Overcome ourselves in order to do what God has asked us to do and be.
I think that happens when God wants to take us out of our comfort zone, in order to conform us to the image of Jesus.

What do you think?
