I was just wondering what people think of as their works.
Chances are there won't be anyone coming along and bragging about their good works for God in a public forum. However, Christians should understand a few things about works (or good works):

1. Good works do not save anyone since salvation is by grace through faith.

2. Good works are essential for all Christians, since we were "created in Christ Jesus UNTO GOOD WORKS" (Eph 2:10)

3. Anyone who has no good works to show must ask himself/herself if they have really been saved.

4. Good works consist of ministering to others (particularly Christian brothers and sisters) materially, financially, emotionally, or spiritually.

5. Christians have a tremendous responsibility and a tremendous job to do on earth before the coming of Christ.

6. An idle Christian is not really serving the Lord.

7. The Judgment Seat of Christ will be for the judgment of our works on earth and the motivation for those works. Those which equate metaphorically to gold, silver, and precious stones will receive rewards. Those which equate to wood, hay, and stubble will be burned up and bring shame to those who did nothing.

8. The Bible says that Christ went into every town and village preaching the Gospel and doing good. Let that be our example.

Like your post above Shamah aka Hiz.

You are right in that obedience is not a work but I do feel at times we have to work to be obedient.

Overcome ourselves in order to do what God has asked us to do and be.
I think that happens when God wants to take us out of our comfort zone, in order to conform us to the image of Jesus.

What do you think?
I agree, the tramsformaion done to us by the Spirit of YHWH, continually changing us to be like Yahshua/Jesus as you said.

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”

It may be a different journey for each one of us but the ending point is the same.

Yes it is a different story for us all, and praise God he knows what's best for us and how to work in us.

"Made perfect through suffering."
Jesus the author of our salvation learned obedience through suffering. He was sinless, the learning obedience through suffering was for us: to bring us to God. He made this possible by a change of clotting (identity) with Him: To be clothed with immortality by His Spirit. This fulfils the prophesy "I will make a way in the wilderness." Where the generation after the flesh had to die forty years: what obedience passed through in forty days: Jesus in prayer and fasting to put away His enemy.

In the communion of the Last super we partake of His body and cleansing life blood, just before He suffered for us; so that following Him as we are called, "Daily pick up your cross and follow Me." We learn of Him obedience in the things He suffered: in the fellowship of His suffering, losing our life after the flesh to have Life in the Love of God, "If I have not Love I am nothing." If your trying to fulfil the law your trying to save nothing. It's not possible to prove ourselves obedient to follow Him: it's proven impossible. After the disciples followed Jesus 3½ years: in the Communion of the Last super Jesus said to His disciples, " All of you will abandon Me this night." Even having inherited His will in the new covenant, having good will could not bring us to obedience, until empowered by His Spirit. This was foreknown in the mind of God that we had to learn of Him in the fellowship of His sufferings, to cease from our dead works: there was no other way, "If there was a law that could have made us righteous, Salvation would have been by the law." and Jesus would not have had to leave so that we would have His Spirit. "Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit sais the Lord." God caries us into His death to all that is not of God: suffering with Him is not work if we know His Grace: the Love of God working in us, giving us identity in Christ.
Grace enables us to do "One thing," forgetting what lies behind (dead)," and walk in the Light to get more Light.

The Beatitudes
(Psalm 1:1-6; Luke 6:20-23)

3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

well as far as works go I am not out there preaching on the street or walking around handing out bibles I simply do what I can. I only have my willingness to be used by him no matter how big or small no matter if it's withing my initial gifts or not I just want to be useful to him. And so he will use me in small ways and while I cannot say I am doing great and amazing things for his kingdom I cherish every tiny thing he uses me for and the way I see it every tiny drop of rain in a downpour while seemingly small and insignificant on it's own helps create a flood.

Honestly I think the ones who do the most works in his kingdom are not those who are on the streets preaching and throwing the gospel in peoples faces or out there handing out bibles I think it's the ones who have the willingness to be used even if that means doing small things day to day
