This is what I believe faith in Christ leading to salvation means.
Those, who love God are they whom the Lord foresaw in the future believing in love, mercy, truth and justice; and thereby predestined for salvation, to be conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:28-30).

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Yes, faith is the entire person in the right relationship with God.
Again, however, this is just another pretty spin without providing the criteria on what true faith/belief in Christ represents.
Do you have a question about Faith you would like the Bible to answer? Or, perhaps you would want to speak about what you believe faith means more elaborately. Certainly, you are not speaking from prejudice, closing your mind to peoples input of the truth, for Christ would not have us do that - right? In either case I am listening.

Faith is a combination of belief, trust and action. It can also be a sense of calm in trouble believing that he is there with you and whatever happens, you will be ok. Faith does not nescessary mean the absence of fear or anxiety. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego were threatened to be thrown into the fire if they would not worship the golden statue, I would not be surprised if they were physically shaking and their heart was pounding a mile a minute, but they would not bow down and worship it. Faith is also about going toward your fears continually instead of avoiding them. The song Oceans portrays a good picture of what faith looks like.

What does faith in Christ mean to you?
Well you have saving faith. That is trusting in Jesus to forgive your sin eternally. This happens in an instant and lasts forever

Then there is 'the faith '. .

Bible study .. sharing your faith ... helping others .. belonging to a church etc. ..

Interesting that kjv has being justified by the faith OF Christ.. whereas nkjv and some others have being justified by faith IN Christ.

Is this verse about eternal salvation.. or THE faith?

Yeah, and in addition to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, I would think the first century Christians who were thrown to the lions in the Collesium felt the same way.
I don't know if I'd be able to stand up to that test, which I think the Great tribulation will be somewhat comparable.

Yours is the OSAS view, which many scritptures testify against.
I will concur that if someone stays in the faith of Christ that the OSAS view does apply.
But for individuals who leave believing in love, truth, and justice, the OSAS view would then not apply.

Personally, I read the KJV, and the faith of Christ to me means believing in what Christ believed in. If someone believes in what Christ believed then that person is justified.

Having faith in Christ to me seems to be referencing faith in that Jesus is the Son of God. I do not know how someone is justified by simply having faith in believing Christ is the Son of God. The devils believe as much, but aren't saved.

And we know that all things work together for good (but only if certain conditions are met) to them who love God ( the first condition), to them who are the called according to His purpose (this means it's "His purpose, and not ours," which is the second condition; otherwise, all things will not work together for our good).
Romans 8:28

We want God to do what the word says He can do without giving Him the right to own. God is not going to give you more of JEHOVAH if you are not willing to submit to ADONAI. If a Christians is notwilling to give him ownership or allow Him to become master of your life thenthe information flow stops, ceases, lessens, drips, rather than being fullforce with more data on God fulfilling what His word proclaims He will and cando. Many Christians want God to get them to heaven but not own them on earth.

Jesus is ADONAI in the New Testament. He says, "“So why doyou keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?" In otherwords, you are talking that talk but I do not own you. So you get to take careof you. The reason why more Christians are not being delivered is because they have believed until salvation but not confess until Lordship. Until the Lordship issue is settled the manifestation of GOD - JEHOVAH and ELOHIM will belimited or negated in a Christian life. says, God has madeJesus Lord and Christ. The slave to Christ becomes the Lords freeman -1 Corinthians 7:21-24. In other words themore you become a slave to Jesus the freer you become as a person. The less youare a slave to Jesus the more bound you become as a person.

If God is Adonai to you, He is the one to whom you submit or bow down; He is the Boss of your life. Adonai is the ultimate authority figure in your life and the One to whom you owe your complete allegiance.

That is where prayer comes in. Prayers asking for boldness and prayers such as " Into your hands I commit my spirit" (Psalm 31:5) and " In you, oh Lord, I put my trust. Let me never be ashamed" ( Psalm 31:1) and other prayers.

Faith in Christ means to live life in a truth-filled way. Jesus Christ became the embodiment of Faith. He followed God's will to the letter. In other words, to have faith in Christ is to follow God's will (the Father's will) so we too can be sons and daughters of the Father, and brothers and sisters to the Son.

Faith is Trusting So faith in Christ is Trusting Jesus..

Trusting that the Atonement He secured by His death upon the cross saves me from the eternal lake of fire..

Faith is also trusting in the Words of the LORD Jesus Christ,, His teachings.. That they are all true and good..

In order to sin less (or not at all) one does not need more faith. You just have to crucify or mortify (put to death) the "flesh" by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Say "No" to Satan and "Yes" to the Holy Spirit. And since love is the fulfilling of the Law, perfect love to God and neighbor will prevent you from sinning.

As to your comments on what others have said about faith, all their responses are perfectly valid. Faith is essentially TOTAL TRUST and TOTAL DEPENDENCE on the living God and the Lord Jesus Christ, which means TOTAL CONFIDENCE in the written Word of God. Saving faith is believing that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh who took upon Himself the sins of the whole world, and died for my personal sins and rose again for my personal justification. And one must believe this WITHOUT THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT (see Acts 8:37).

At the same time, since genuine heartfelt repentance is the opposite side of the "faith coin", so faith also means a TOTAL TURNING AWAY from sins and idols and a total TURNING TO Christ for salvation -- receiving Him as both Lord and Savior.

Faith is the entire person in the right relationship with God through the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. No one could have had a more sensitive love in human relationship than Jesus; and yet He says there are times when love to father and mother must be hatred in comparison to our love for Him.
I would like to attain more faith so that I sin less.
Your faith will grow in time ...if there is only one strand of faith amongst all the corruption within us, God will take hold of that one strand. Paul puts it like this: "...I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Notice his determination; His decision? If we have but a mustard seed of faith (the smallest seed) it will someday grow to be worthy of bearing the weight of others as God builds in us His Character.. In other words we need not have strong faith yet, although it will grow in strength, we need to have a disposition in Christ! And that requires our death.

Just realize the reality that you died on the Cross with Jesus, and then experience the death to the right to your self in your life experientially; we must intentionally become totally dependent on Jesus as our New Creation thru obedience as He guides us.. Your faith is not unusable right now, it is the obedience that just needs to be absolutely sold out to what God makes clear for you to do and not do.

If your goal is to sin less, Jesus has a surprise for you, His standards exceed that; because the only life you have is in Him, and He has accomplished victory already as He was first faithful to us. That doesn't mean we won't stumble as we grow into maturity, but we must start with the revelation and mindset that now that we are pure in Him; based on His sacrifice on the Cross, it is up to you and me to let God be empowered to put to death the things of the flesh by our volitional will obeying Him....

But I concede that it is not easy to have faith in God, and it is not meant to be easy because we have to make character. God will shield us from no requirements of His sons and daughters any more than He shielded His Only Begotten Son. It is an easy business to sit in an armchair and say, "Oh yes, I believe God will do this and that,"; that is credulity (a tendency to be too ready to believe that something is real or true), not faith.

But let me say, "I believe God will supply all my needs," and then let me "run dry" - no money, no outlook, and see whether I go thru the trial of my faith, or sink back and put my trust in something else. I have indeed faced this - and God has built my Character in Him based on obedience.

It is the trial of our faith that is precious. If we go thru the trial, there is so much wealth laid up in our heavenly banking account to draw upon when the next test comes. This begins the process of sanctification, and the deeper workings of the cross in our lives, where we experience the fullness of Christ in our life.

What does it mean to YOU?

Seems to me, too durn many folks come around asking questions like this and NEVER give folks their thoughts on it. Seems like we need to have a person checking for "pfishing licenses" here on CC...........just saying.

So, YOU FIRST........

What does faith in Christ mean to you?
