it would take dumb people to believe a dumb idol was real. the Egyptians built the pyramids, were some of the most intelligent people of their day and they put their greatest minds into the priesthood. do our greatest minds today go into the priesthood?
Yes, that is exactly what that Scripture is saying. Intelligent people (including Egyptian priests) became fools and started to believe that dumb idols were gods and goddesses. Take a look at the pantheon of Egyptians gods and goddesses.

https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Egyptian_gods_and_goddesses

Anubis was a jackal headed god.
Apis was a bull
Apophis was a snake
Bastet was a cat goddess
Menhit was a lion goddess
Nekhbet was a vulture goddess
And the list goes on.

and why would they do that? Solomon believed them to be real, he was wise, his wisdom came from the Most High. yet he wasnt smart enough to know these gods were not real? something does not add up with this.

i always hought it strange how Egyptians, Greeeks and others depicted these gods as human/animals. IMO the Egyptians were not always in this fallen state of worshiping gods. the Sphinx was at one time a lion, then they later re carve it into a lion/human. the bible mentions them a lot about bringing Egypt back and such.

It does not add up from the natural man's perspective. But it does add up from God's perspective. When men refuse to acknowledge that there is only one true God who is invisible and cannot be represented by any image, and they turn away from Him to worship His creation (the host of heaven) and His creatures (anywhere from bulls to snakes) then they literally become spiritually blind and fools. Thus the wise king Solomon also became a fool when he went into idolatry, and all those smart Egyptians (Babylonians, Indians, Chinese, etc) all became fools.

"all of you", and "them" from the psalms passage?

i think Jesus did teachings within the teaching. he would say something, mean what he said, but within that truth were deep mysteries.

my big question (one among many) has always been what happened between Noah and terra. it was only like 400 years between them, they would have known each other, yet Noah was a man of the Lord, terra made Idols. its been two thousand years since Jesus ascended, we remember Jesus, how did terra's generation turn away, especially with a living Noah they could go see and talk to? very strange.
The answer came to me earlier today.
I am not confused any more.
Psalms is talking about the sons or children of God and so is Jesus.
It looked like Jesus was saying all men are gods, but that is not what He was saying.
The Jews argument was that Jesus was a mere mortal man but by saying He was a son of God He was making Himself God.
So Jesus pointed out that all sons of God were gods.
Jesus wasn't replying to the part about Him being a mere mortal man, He was telling them that as a son of God, according to the the word of, and given by God, said He was a god, at the very least.
Jesus' main talking point is about the sons of God.
So now my answer is firm.
Psalms 82 is referring to heavenly children of God that were gods, and Jesus is saying and agreeing with the same about Himself and all who are children of God.
All of God's children are gods.
I don't know if you can see that, but that's what I got today and that is how I see it.
What do you think about that?

I haven't a clue as to what you are talking about.
Who or what is terra?

.
From both the old and new.
Psalms 82 referring to "all of you" son's of God and Jesus referring to "them" sons of God like Him.
I didn't know or see that yesterday.

Jay, you were saying, or asking, why doesn't the Bible say what it means? Yet you KNOW that many truths are given in analogies, metaphors, and parables. Words are used to point to Truth. Can you recognize who this is?

^^ That's David. He is the apple of God's eye.

How about this one; do you know who it is?

I'm done discussing anything further with you because you ignore the whole data of the Bible. For the umpteenth time, there is only one god that exists:

... We know that the false gods in this world don’t really exist and that no god exists except the one God. People may say that there are gods in heaven and on earth—many gods and many Lords, as they would call them.

2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

We are sons of God by adoption. Jesus is not. Jesus is 100% God. We are 0% God. Jesus walked on water to show us His Deity but Peter couldn't walk on the water even with Jesus helping him, nobody has ever walked on water but Jesus. Never do we see Peter later in his life saying "I finally got the hang of walking on water and you all should do it too". Jesus did nature miracles but nobody since Jesus did one nature miracle. That was to show us His Deity. You are not, nor ever will be a deified god. Why are you so focused on yourself with believing your a god delusion? Our trust is to be in Christ to save us from our sins not in ourselves to be gods with authority barking commands at the air. Your doctrine was never heard of in church history until after WWII when it was invented by EW Kenyon and plagiarized by Kenneth Hagin.
The Lame Beggar Healed
Act 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
Act 3:2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
Act 3:3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
Act 3:4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
Act 3:5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
Act 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Act 3:7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
Act 3:8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Act 3:9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
Act 3:10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
Peter Speaks in Solomon's Portico
Act 3:11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.
Act 3:12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
Act 3:13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
Act 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
Act 3:15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
Act 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

i couldnt agree more with Paul, there may be many gods but there is only one Most High.

Exodus 15:1
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?

i have not ignored anything, ask me a question, any question.
show me a scripture, any scripture.

you however will not answer these questions.
why have a command dont worship other gods when their are no other gods to worship?
or we can play it your way, why have a command not to believe in other gods (for some reason you seem to think "have" other gods means to believe they exist) when their are no other gods to believe in?
and why is there scripture after scripture after scripture talking about other gods and zero that say other gods do not exist?
I went through the same thing.
It doesn't matter how plainly or clearly it is written, He still denies it's there.
I just quoted a scripture about the god of this world blinding the minds of people. Which means they won't be able to see the truth even though it right there in plain sight.

Because they are simply dumb idols -- as Scripture says -- not actual gods, but presumed to be gods by their worshipers. But behind those "gods" are demons, and again that is what Scripture says. We can either go by what the Word of God reveals, or we can go with the ideas of men.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to [1] corruptible man, and to [2] birds, and [3] fourfooted beasts, and [4] creeping things. (Rom 1:22,23).

One only has to look at the pantheons of pagan "gods" to see that they are not really gods.
Exo 7:10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Exo 7:11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
Exo 7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

Physical healing is not a nature miracle. A nature miracle is calming a storm, walking on water, turning water into wine, making it dark night in the afternoon, making food multiply, etc.

Nobody in the New Testament parted water or made fire fall from heaven. Nor did any nature miracles, but only Jesus did. You failed to show otherwise.

Jaybird, you need to read the OT through completely. Over and over it talks about idols, and how they are not gods. Do you think these idols whether small household gods, or large monuments were mere representations? No! These people worshiped these bits of wood, silver and gold. This is a huge theme in the OT, which John picks up later on in Revelation.

They have burned the gods of the nations, for they are not really gods, but only the product of human hands manufactured from wood and stone. That is why the Assyrians could destroy them.” 2 Kings 19:18

3 Our God is in heaven!
He does whatever he pleases!
4 Their idols are made of silver and gold—
they are man-made.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see,
6 ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell,
7 hands, but cannot touch,
feet, but cannot walk.

They cannot even clear their throats.
8 Those who make them will end up like them,
as will everyone who trusts in them.” Psalm 115:3-8

8 Their land is full of worthless idols;

they worship the product of their own hands,
what their own fingers have fashioned.
9 Men bow down to them in homage,
they lie flat on the ground in worship.
Don’t spare them!” Isa. 2:8-9

18 To whom can you compare God?
To what image can you liken him?
19 A craftsman casts an idol;
a metalsmith overlays it with gold
and forges silver chains for it.
20 To make a contribution one selects wood that will not rot;
he then seeks a skilled craftsman
to make an idol that will not fall over.
21 Do you not know?
Do you not hear?
Has it not been told to you since the very beginning?
Have you not understood from the time the earth’s foundations were made?” Isa. 40:18-21

Don’t panic! Don’t be afraid!
Did I not tell you beforehand and decree it?
You are my witnesses! Is there any God but me?
There is no other sheltering rock; I know of none.

9 All who form idols are nothing;
the things in which they delight are worthless.
Their witnesses cannot see;
they recognize nothing, so they are put to shame.
10 Who forms a god and casts an idol
that will prove worthless?
11 Look, all his associates will be put to shame;
the craftsmen are mere humans.
Let them all assemble and take their stand!
They will panic and be put to shame.
12 A blacksmith works with his tool
and forges metal over the coals.
He forms it with hammers;
he makes it with his strong arm.
He gets hungry and loses his energy;
he drinks no water and gets tired.
13 A carpenter takes measurements;
he marks out an outline of its form;
he scrapes it with chisels,
and marks it with a compass.
He patterns it after the human form,
like a well-built human being,
and puts it in a shrine.
14 He cuts down cedars
and acquires a cypress or an oak.
He gets trees from the forest;
he plants a cedar and the rain makes it grow.
15 A man uses it to make a fire;
he takes some of it and warms himself.
Yes, he kindles a fire and bakes bread.
Then he makes a god and worships it;
he makes an idol and bows down to it.
16 Half of it he burns in the fire—
over that half he cooks meat;
he roasts a meal and fills himself.
Yes, he warms himself and says,
‘Ah! I am warm as I look at the fire.’
17 With the rest of it he makes a god, his idol;
he bows down to it and worships it.
He prays to it, saying,
‘Rescue me, for you are my god!’
18 They do not comprehend or understand,
for their eyes are blind and cannot see;
their minds do not discern.
19 No one thinks to himself,
nor do they comprehend or understand and say to themselves:
‘I burned half of it in the fire—
yes, I baked bread over the coals;
I roasted meat and ate it.
With the rest of it should I make a disgusting idol?
Should I bow down to dry wood?’
20 He feeds on ashes;
his deceived mind misleads him.
He cannot rescue himself,
nor does he say, ‘Is this not a false god I hold in my right hand?’” Isa 44:8-20

You people of Israel, listen to what the Lord has to say to you.
2 The Lord says,
Do not start following pagan religious practices.
Do not be in awe of signs that occur in the sky
even though the nations hold them in awe.
3 For the religion of these people is worthless.
They cut down a tree in the forest,
and a craftsman makes it into an idol with his tools.
4 He decorates it with overlays of silver and gold.
He uses hammer and nails to fasten it together
so that it will not fall over.
5 Such idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field.
They cannot talk.
They must be carried
because they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them
because they cannot hurt you.
And they do not have any power to help you.”

6 I said,
There is no one like you, Lord.
You are great.
And you are renowned for your power.
7 Everyone should revere you, O King of all nations,
because you deserve to be revered.
For there is no one like you
among any of the wise people of the nations nor among any of their kings.” Jer. 10:1-7

What good is an idol? Why would a craftsman make it?
What good is a metal image that gives misleading oracles?

Why would its creator place his trust in it
and make such mute, worthless things?
19 The one who says to wood, ‘Wake up!’ is as good as dead—
he who says to speechless stone, ‘Awake!’
Can it give reliable guidance?
It is overlaid with gold and silver;
it has no life’s breath inside it.
20 But the Lord is in his majestic palace.
The whole earth is speechless in his presence!” Habbakuk 2:19-20

And finally, John echoes these verses (there are more!) which talk about there are NO other gods. Any god is just a human creation, except for Jesus Christ! In fact, idolatry, doesn’t seem to end!

The rest of humanity, who had not been killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so that they did not stop worshiping demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk about.” Rev. 9:20

No God except the triune God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Thus the wise king Solomon also became a fool when he went into idolatry, and all those smart Egyptians (Babylonians, Indians, Chinese, etc) all became fools.
but what would make Solomon do such a thing, a man with wisdom from the heavens, a man that actually spoke to and heard the voice of the Most High, after all that he just wakes up one morning and decides he is going to go after other gods, gods that dont even exist?

What do you think about that?
so these children of the Most High, are they like Adam before the fall, and like what we (believers) can be when we achieve our full potential?
i think its very plausible and could very well be correct.
i still lean a bit to believe that there is a difference between "children of" and "sons of" the Most High. we may be children but have the potential to become sons of the Most High.

Jay, you were saying, or asking, why doesn't the Bible say what it means? Yet you KNOW that many truths are given in analogies, metaphors, and parables. Words are used to point to Truth. Can you recognize who this is?

^^ That's David. He is the apple of God's eye.

How about this one; do you know who it is?

at first i thought that pic was from the eon flux cartoon on mtv back in the day.
the second is the gate that represents Jesus?
