It's just that people slowly turn away from love.so I hope any of you could become the richest in the world and still remember help the poor, not just food, use the money to offer some work such as Soilless cultivation techniques to feed more poor people.

Maybe not the richest man in the world, but a meal can help a little,
Some things like a single meal, a fresh pair of socks, or a friendly greeting may seem a bit trivial, but to someone who doesn’t have much and possibly doesn’t have much hope, that might be the thing that gave them hope things can become better for them. That might very well be the hope that gets them from completely giving up,

It’s a big like God’s grace. How many of us would have totally given up had God not given us many chances to get it right?

I,d pick the man up , take him to church, offer him hot meal, a shower , clothing, send him out with money, and good blessings, i shore wouldn,t be playing with my thumbs and drawing , and thinking do I have enough invermation here to make a descion. lmao, your some peace of work.
Do you do that?
Drunken homeless are everywhere, literally everywhere. One could spend his entire life just tending the homeless. Is that what you do?
Is that what Jesus did?

What if a guy sitting by your church, was smelly, on shaven , his clothes where full of holes, bottle of wine in a bag. What would you do ???
I would invite him for a hearty dinner on the condition that he first come with me and do the following: shave, shower, wear deodorant, throw away that bottle, put on clean clothes (which would be gifted to him), and then come with me to a restaurant for a good meal. Then we could chat and see what needs to be said or done next. Once a person has eaten a good meal, he is ready to talk. Of course if he turns down this generous offer, then he would remain in his wretched condition.

What would you do if some selfrighteous dude came along and demanded an answer to a hypothetical and condemned logical answers based on what he thought you should answer?

I would point that guy to a homeless village in some major city and say good luck.
You can find thousands of drunken and drugged out and menatally ill homeless folks in massive encampments in every city on earth. Good luck.

One must always examine why it is there approaching such a man as described in the scenario. Is it to truly meet the needs of such a person or is it self-righteous gratification?

It’s rather arrogant of you to assume the man needs or even wants any help from you. That’s why I would give him the common courtesy and respect to ask how he’s doing without making any assumptions.

Respecting his dignity empowers him, thus making him in charge of the conversation and any possible actions taken thereafter. That’s free, prudent wisdom. 😉
I apologize for my rudeness. Maybe he is in front of the Church for a reason. He should be welcomed in and given the utmost courtesy.

It’s all good, brother. I apologize as well for offending you with my rudeness. And you’re right, the man should be welcomed in and given the utmost courtesy.

Some people do not want want to be treated like a token good deed.

They want to be respected as human beings.

Maybe take the time to treat them as though they are human instead of judging them by what you see - treating the poor one way and the rich another is still prejudicial even when you go out of your way to make a show of compassion to someone as though they are nothing more than a box to check.

You don't know if a person wants your money or food, or if all they want is to look past their situation and see them as an actual living soul.

Like me - maybe you should treat me like i am real.

i am just here; here i am. Does my presence change how you live your life?

@Chris21 just in case you aren't aware, please allow me to back up this statement with scripture:

You shall do no injustice in judgment.
You shall not be partial to the poor,
nor honor the person of the mighty.
In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.
(Leviticus 19:15)
reads to me as tho if we go out of our way to show kindness to a sodden, drunken bum in a way we wouldn't do for anyone - whether they are rich or poor or middle class, stand out of a crowd or blend in... then we sin.

i pray, farbeit from me to treat the destitute ((measured by worldly or spiritual measures)) as though i am above them. we have the same hands.

if i was a drunken bum in a church service the last thing i would want is a bunch of condescending highbrows offering me unsolicited advice and buying my lunch. maybe that's just me.

Can only imagine in the original op scenario if they dare ask you what you are drawing, especially if your in deep thought while doodling..... , you pull out some different color pens, "let me explain to you about colors" Never just a simple doodle when it comes to you post, More like the doodle was an opportunity that if the guy asked would probably leave the guy thinking about things they might never forget
