One of their traditions was earning salvation through rituals and works (adherence to commandments). Which does boil down to faith in the gospel of grace and gift of righteousness.

I think the context says it.

They developed a complicated tradition with many details that contradicted what was quite simple in the Law.

Man-made unscriptural traditions, see 1Peter 1v18,19.

The principle still applies. As soon as man-made traditions and ideas enter into the churches, the Word of God is voided. We have two groups of "traditionalist" churches within Christendom today -- the Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Churches. Both groups elevate "Holy Tradition" to the level of Scripture, and in practice ABOVE Scripture.

But then we also have the Protestant, Evangelical, and Fundamentalist churches which have allowed man-made doctrines to trump the Word of God. You could point to Scripture all day, but that would not make a whit of difference. We could take umpteen examples to illustrate this fact, but Christians should know Scripture thoroughly before they can assess the traditions of men in the churches today.

Let's take the tradition of baptizing infants. This is a very widespread tradition throughout Christendom today, even though the New Testament makes it crystal clear that Christian baptism was only for those who were actually converted. So first the error of baptismal regeneration was introduced, and then the practice of infant baptism followed.

Yes, WOW!!! So what do you think are are the "Christian" traditions that make it of no effect?

G-d Word transcends all time... What traditions, today, make His Word no effect?

Actually there is nothing that "voids" the word of God. There are only ideas and actions that attempt to void His word.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Those who reject the word of God have a problem but Gods word never fails.

Of Course His Word will not return to Him void. Praise God! :D However, His Word can be void in our lives if we hold tight to tradition instead of His Word. So, I bring our attention back to the original verse that I posted....

Well, true Christians are follower of Christ and not of traditions. Therefore, they haven't voided the Word in their lives. However, those who attempt to serve God through traditions, have placed the importance of doing things a certain way instead of living in freedom in Christ and in turn voids the Word of God in their lives. Once they set aside traditions and allow God to work in their lives then the Word will come alive to them and in them.

To answer your question, "What traditions, today, make His Word no effect?" ...Working for salvation is one. :(
