The law was given to Isreal. Not us, We are told to do some things which are included in the law. But we are not told to obey the law.
I am an Israelite. And we are commanded to keep the commandments
(Mat 19:17) And he said unto him,
Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
(Joh 14:15)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
(Joh 15:10)
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
(1Jn 2:3) And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
(1Jn 3:22) And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
(1Jn 5:2) By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
(1Jn 5:3) For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
(Rev 12:17) And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
(Rev 14:12) Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
The word "KEEP" is Strong's G5083
τηρέω
tēreō
tay-reh'-o
From τηρός teros (a watch; perhaps akin to G2334); to guard (from loss or injury, properly by keeping the eye upon; and thus differing from G5442, which is properly to prevent escaping; and from G2892, which implies a fortress or full military lines of apparatus), that is, to note (a prophecy; figuratively to fulfil a command); by implication to detain (in custody; figuratively to maintain); by extension to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively to keep unmarried): -
hold fast, keep (-er), (ob-, pre-, re) serve, watch.
Observe.
Preserve.
Reserve.
Hold fast.
Keep.
So is it just the idea of "OBEYING" the commandments that is a turn off? Surely, Jesus meant what He said about the commandments.
