I'm just looking for a practical example of how the Spirit causes you to live in a real and physical way. How do you show God that you love Him? How do you show your neighbor that you love him so that he knows it?
Speaking in practical terms, I will share an example that God convicted me of. My daughter (who is Christian only by association) gave me 5 ornamental wall hanging crosses. They were so lovely, and after all, my daughter gave them to me. As I would go back and read the Ten Commandments and other stories in the Old Testament (The OT seems to be a very long story weaved into practical commandments) I felt that I needed to shed my walls of anything that was displeasing to God.

Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

I used to have a collection of different ornaments and wall hangings of butterflies. I got rid of it because of the 2nd commandment. I questioned the crosses and what they represent. They were empty crosses. No Jesus image hanging on them. The nagging in my soul just wouldn't stop. So I took them down and my roommate rescued them. I can't speak for my roommate and what those ornamental wall hangings meant to her, but to me, I just felt pure relief to have them gone from my space. I don't miss them at all.

In sharing my testimony, I don't expect anyone to follow how I was led by the Holy Spirit to obey the 2nd commandment. It is personal between me and my Master.

I've moved away and my old roommate thinks of me when she looks at the crosses. She remembers me and my personal conviction. Are decorations wrong? That is between you and the Lord.

Again, I agree 100%.

I'm just talking about how we live after that fact.
by Faith in Christ's finished work, and the just shall live by Faith. anything without Faith in Christ's finished work is sin. Read 1 Cor. 13:1-3, clanging symbols without the love of God

Read Enoch chapter 7 for a guide gen 6 v 1-5 for a start the earth was the abode of angels long before man was placed here bt as they rebelled and fallen angels mingled with flesh later on bt I'm not gna argue with you friend I've taken careful notes of many your replies and in my opinion you are just too set in mind to be able to open up to anything other than what you hold? Hey brother its your choice I respect it I'm sure u mean well in your aims and goals bt for me I'm afraid I think your way off mark you will not relent a single point in over 100 pages and I most certainly dnt want to be involved in another 100 job 38 has some hidden treasures if the Holy Spirit should choose to reveal to you my friend
Is that the first book of Enoch? I have that. I might have missed it when I read it before. Thanks man!! big time!

As far as my responses to others, I have determined not to respond to others that do all they can to antagonize. I see that I have presented my self incorrectly, and also our Father in heaven by my defensive actions. Sorry, I hope this shows you that I consider myself as a student of the truth and still learning.

Of course I know that. I'm talking about practically for us.
Faith the life of Jesus manifested through you by trust in Father to do this through you by the Holy Ghost, the same as Christ did nothing without the Holy Ghost telling him what to do and what to say. Did he not after ascension send the Holy Ghost to empower the believers?
The ? is whether one believes this or not?

Actually, it is His resurrection that saves us...

Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

1.) Justified by His blood.
2.) Reconciled by His death.
3.) Saved by His life.
No resurrection, no life, no life, no God, and we would still be in our sins, read 1 Cor. 15

God said it. to moses and the people it was given to.
Paul said it, in his epistles.

The law is one thing, Your trying to tear it apart into small things, This is not scriptural.
lol. Sorry, But anyone can say they have the spirits guiding, If parts of the law are no longer valid, and we should follow law. Then it better say someplace. otherwise we are listening to men
The principles and instructions in the Law can exist by themselves. It's not as if they are worthless if they aren't included in the whole Law. The things written in the Law are good things physically, emotionally and spiritually. They are wise things to do. So you can do the things commanded in the Law without needing to follow all of it. Unless you're wanting to follow ALL of it for some alterior motive, it's perfectly reasonable and acceptable to do some or all of the things in it, again if lead by the Spirit.

If your doing it to be saved, you are. If you are telling people they must do it, you are. If you are telling people if they do not do it they are in sin, You are.. It is called judging people. for the things Christ paid for on the cross.
And I am not doing any of those things, yet several people have told me that I can't do anything in the Law at all, because it will negate Jesus' sacrifice. Even though I'm saying it's not for salvation, people still say that you can't.

There is a reason God said do it on the 8th day, He made us, he should know. I have no problem with medical science confirming what God already knows. it just supports him, and shows he was right in the first place.

Right. The same thing is true of eating pork.

The law was given to Isreal. Not us, We are told to do some things which are included in the law. But we are not told to obey the law.
To obey the whole thing as 1 entity. No. To obey individual aspects of it as the Spirit leads, yes.

Isaiah 40 v 21/22 ? In 1610 Galileo discovered the earth was round ? Established fact? Isaiah knew thousands years before psalm 105 v4 hints at it ? The point being is we dnt get revelation from The Lord via the Holy Spirit today until he chooses us?, our eyes to see it? Its the same with last chapter of Daniel ? Go thy way Daniel for the words are seale till the latter days? Who's talking to Daniel here? The Lord of course? To whom is The Lord referring ? To the Jews? To his people? Look at all end time scenarios on the net some using Daniels words to bring unto today? I have my views on this and will start another thread soon to get all discussing my friend bt for sure the angels were on earth first is my view, billions of years maybe we dnt know as the bible dnt say how long it took satan to persuade a third of the heavenly host to leave thier first habitation ? Again another subject for another time bt in closing job 38 as I said asks us who are we? And a host of little gems are there also friend ...

So obedience to His instructions please Him? Could obedience to the Torah please Him as well?
Kohen,

Brother, you and I seem to have some understanding between us. With that in mind, may I use this opportunity to shed some light upon the matter?

Obedience to God is pleasing to Him.

Jesus said, "Come and follow me to God".

The Law basically says, "Come and follow me to God".

It is told to us that the deeds done in the flesh through the Law is not pleasing to God.

We are also told that we are to die to our flesh so that we can become alive to our spirit and through His Spirit as the instrument which we use to be led to God, we then become pleasing to God.

I have a feeling that you feel the same as what I just wrote. But, if I may as a way to show you what others are seeing you saying, you place your emphasize on the Law and not the Christ.

Example: Could obedience to the Torah please Him as well? Yes, it could. But, every one who found their righteousness through the Law HAD to undergo the Law's penalty of death UNTIL their Messiah came and delivered them from that sentencing.

As a Christian, which I know you are one, perhaps emphasize should be placed upon the Christ who is the One we are now obedient to, as oppose to the Law, for our righteousness (right standing before God). Me personally, I would say, "Spiritual obedience to the Lawmaker is what pleases God".

I truly hope you understand that I am not judging you as pertaining to the Law, as I know faith does not void the Law, but am hoping you see that others are seeing you pointing to the Law more than to the Lawgiver who speaks that same Law.

cf, thanks for the encouragement, and you're right. We do agree on many of the same things. But in regards to my perceived focus on the Law, the title of this thread is "What Laws are still valid to Christians". That is my focus of this thread.

Now, if someone wants to talk about all of the commands that Jesus talks about, I could talk about those for forever and a day. I hope people in here understand that my talking so much about the Law in a thread called ""What Laws are still valid to Christians", doesn't mean that's the primary relationship with God or doctrine in my life.

As always, context is vital. In Scripture, as well as in a forum.

Thanks for the encouragement, it's appreciated.

Well that is what I said. Because He was resurrected to life, we can be resurrected to life. I Cor 15 is the resurrection chapter and contains the most of the truth on the resurrections in one place. The other very important cahpter to understand the resurrections is Rev 20.

Not sure I see it that way. As he points to the Law, it reflects how sinful we have been and are and how much we need Christ lest we suffer eternal death...

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

My life has only been treathened twice, but God allow me to walk away unscatched. I always have a plan of how to defend my life and those in my family even a stranger in need , to the death, my death or the asailent's death. I am not a pasafist.( I don't thik my spell check is working, LOL so be it.) I find it a tremendous challenge to live here. Ihave had my life threathened in new York also. I rented apt.s to some real low life schum. but the Philippines has uniquie culual chalenges. In N.Y. I had a big advantage I had guns and the right to defend my self, in my own home. Here I can carry a pocket knife and the garmed guards at the mall never take it away, so I assume it is legal. Why am I shareing this.? becaus e I need your prayers. My blood preasure is 130 over 90 , I never had it so high . My suger is border line also. My left eye is blurred. I lose mylittle car to the typhon in Dec. and am very releaved not to have to drive any more in this charzy city. I just have to borrow 90,000 thousand peso to save my brother in laws life. happy to do so,happy to spend all my money for my family here and the poor of our village. I love the LORD and lovepreaching His Gospele ver week/day to these need people. I love ther smile when I sing Christmas caeols and hymns to them on the Jeepys They are a smiling people, yet so much chrime and coruption. The mayor of Davao City is tough on crime. we have had a couple of little prank bombs explode in the movie theaters, but small, killings almost every day.
I am very happy to have all these practical ways to show my love to God and to my fellow man. Love to all. Hoffco

I have no problem with the Law, just how it is implemented in the Christian life. The Law which "reflects how sinful we have been and are" is the same exact Law which the Lawgiver retains in a spiritual walk for a Christian.

The only difference is that one condemns and the Other has empathy.

I would say, the title of thius tread is not specifiicly speaking of the O.T. laws but I assume it means the O.T.. With the teaching of the N.T. I have to say there are no laws in the O.T. which we are duty bound to keep. Hebrews devorices us from the Old Cov. I think the N.T. has all the laws we need for today. BUT, we need the OLD T. for the rich teaching s on God Himself. and the many principles for life that the O. T. contains, with the great stoies , history of the Jews and the world. I would feel very deprived of my rich Jewish heretage with out the O. T. to read. BUT< life is simple for me, The n.T. has all the laws I need for life and godiness. I am told how to obey my government , how to run my church and family, what more do I need.. It is a shame to see what the orthodox Jews in the nation of Isreal, tring to live in the O.T. and a shame to see the bulk of israel living in unbelief anf outright paganism, secular ,no God. They will rebuild their temple soon and restart the o>T. sac. soon, and make God mad at them and they will suffer the wrath of God againt. It will happen because God has foretold it. . BUt then, they , and the world, will have a beautiful day in the kingdom of Jesus for 1,000 yrs. Then, the NEW Heavens and the NEW earth. praise God! Love to all, Hoffco

Claiming to be saved by grace without conviction. That don't make it
