For those who believe the measure of a day in Genesis 1 is 24 hours, Wouldn't the second day be 24 hours after the earth was created?
Why?
If standing next to God in Genesis 1:3, how long would it take you to see the light?
Instantaneously.

Well since we are still in the 7th day of creation and 6 to 10,000 years of human existence, then it very well could be 1 day is not the 24 or 12 hour of humans interpretation of day.

Also the Hebrew word for day can be translated 4 different ways. 12 hour daytime, 24 hour day, back in the day expression, and finally a long period of time.

Plus we have no scripture evidence or natural evidence that points to that God changed the speed of light. We measure the distance of planets, stars, and cosmological events by observing the light that it put off and is just now hitting our observations. Basically a snapshot of the past.

The speed of light would have to of changed and so far that isnt evident.

Also the knowledge of a calendar or time scale didn't come into existence until the fourth day.

Either way the evidence is a signature of how God created. We observe nature and humans interpret the data. 1 scientist can say wow God is awesome by observing the evidence while another scientist observing the same evidence is looking to interpret it from a natural perspective even when the evidence counters the natural realm.
How does this 'light speed' thing work?
To me it's circular reasoning. If i tell you what i believe, you'll laugh for a week.

IMO, the spiritual realm is timeless. But in this fallen world where we experience the physical and also passage of time, we can argue about so many things- whether 6000 years or millions of years, we would still be wrong because the truth can not be in what we experience in this fallen world.

In the spiritual realm, the beginning and the end are just the same. God created and is still creating even now, doing something new in us.

The reason Jesus was crucified some 2000 years ago but it is said that He was sacrificed before the foundations of the world (beginning).

Yom is day in Hebrew, when the word is doubled it means daily, yom yom. I have heard this explanation of 12 hours or etc many times but it is no difference than when in English we say one day and it is day (daytime). The word night is always night. One may shape it in other forms if they wish, but it seems to only comp0licate the issue.

Concering the "day we are in," the Hebrew calendar from Adam's creation is 5780. This would be the sixth day coming to its close. As per from Adam, the caledar is calculated by the generations and the ages given of the successive people in the OT until it came into being. Some of the genealogies are puposely left out. Why? Because their ages were not furnished. Therefore inorder to calculate and not break the laws, the originators would not add, take awaq, or even estimate the ages of the misswing numbers or ages.

I add the last line of information because people lived short lives and very long lives back in the day, so 200 years to the advén of the seventh thousand years could be any moment.

Of that time and of that day no man knowsm only the Father, and now the same Eternaql Father, amen

Sometimes science helps us bend our mind in a useful manner.

Science says, if you had a twin brother, and he went on a spaceship traveling for 20 years. When he eventually returned to earth, he would be younger than you.
Rational thinking says, HUH?

Millions of years ago. Science backs up the Bible.

In Peter the 3 ages are spoken of

In Isaiah God tells us He did not create THE EARTH null and void but TO BE INHABITED

In In Job God is describing how he created it and who was there (keep reading to find animal with tail like a cedar) only one of those have ever walked the earth

In Ezekiel is a description of Satan going from protecting the mercy seat, to iniquity found in him

In Revelation how it caused a war,

In Jeremiah God rendering that "age" to perish, but not making a full end, but the heavens made black (that would sure be an ice age and a killer of dinosaurs)

In Genesis the earth (already here) in darkness, null and void.

If you can get it in the Hebrew, it becomes more clear.

just for reference of contrast
Genesis 7:17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
Genesis 7:18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 7:19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
Genesis 7:20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.
Genesis 7:21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
Genesis 7:22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
Genesis 7:23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

Genesis 9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
Genesis 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

So we know there will never be a world wide flood again It rained for 40 days and nights. It was a slow but steady flow of water. We know that the 8 Adamic souls lived. We know that all the trees didn't die, God gave us the olive branch.
AND TO STOP THOSE WHO WOULD SAY "NOAHS FLOOD" KILLED THE DINOSAURS AND ALL THE OTHER "STUFF" BEFORE YOU DO PREPARE TO EXPLAIN 6 CREATION DAYS THAT TOOK PLACE AFTER THAT

2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished
2 Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

THE WORLD THAT THEN WAS

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
Isaiah 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Job 38:5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?
Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;
Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
Job 38:9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,
Job 38:10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,
Job 38:11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
just for starters

Ezekiel 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Ezekiel 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

Revelation 12:3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
Revelation 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

God Destroying the 1st earth age
Jeremiah 4:19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart my heart maketh a noise in me I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
Jeremiah 4:20 Destruction upon destruction is cried for the whole land is spoiled suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.

Suddenly

Jeremiah 4:21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
Jeremiah 4:22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

Done with wrath
Jeremiah 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void and the heavens, and they had no light.

Jeremiah 4:24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

Jeremiah 4:25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.

THERE WAS NO MAN, THAT MEANS NO MAN

Jeremiah 4:26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

cities broken down by His fierce anger, not with flood

Jeremiah 4:27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end
becAme Null and Void
Jeremiah 4:28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black (THINK ICE AGE) because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

Jeremiah 4:29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
Jeremiah 4:30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.

THE WORLD THAT IS

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Millions of years ago

Genesis 1:2 And the earth was (BECAME) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

This is our beginning having been cast down to earth, we are in the flesh. AND when we die, we return to God.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

How does this 'light speed' thing work?
To me it's circular reasoning. If i tell you what i believe, you'll laugh for a week.
Let's see if I can simplify this. The stars you see when you look up in the night sky are glimpses of light that is finally reaching Earth and measured at the rate light travels.

The astronomical distances measured with telescopes has the Sun sitting just over eight light-minutes away, the center of the Milky Way Galaxy at 25,000 light-years, the Andromeda Galaxy around 2.5 million light-years, and the most distant quasars up to 13 billion light-years away.

A constant speed of light is a problem to young-earth creationism, since the nature of the creation (i.e., the large distances between galaxies) requires either an old universe (required for light from the oldest galaxies to travel to earth) or one that was made to deceive people into thinking it was old.

Astronomers say that the Crab Nebula lies 4,000 light years away from us. That means we are now seeing what that nebula look liked two thousand years before the birth of Christ. When we look anywhere at the night sky, we are actually looking into the past.

But if our universe is only 6,000 years old, that means 99 percent of the entire visible universe should be invisible. And that not only includes visible light, but the stars’ emissions across the entire electromagnetic spectrum from ultraviolet, x-ray, infrared, to radio waves.

The light-year is a unit of length used to express astronomical distances and measures about 9.46 trillion kilometres or 5.88 trillion miles.

However, smaller units of length can similarly be formed usefully by multiplying units of time by the speed of light. For example, the light-second, useful in astronomy, telecommunications and relativistic physics, is exactly 299792458 metres or 1⁄31557600 of a light-year.

So basically light travels from the moon to our eyes in about 1 second, which means the moon is about 1 light-second away. Sunlight takes about 8 minutes to reach our eyes, so the sun is about 8 light-minutes away. Light from the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, is requires roughly 4.3 years to get here, so that star system is said to be 4.3 light-years away.

This principle allows astronomers to see how the universe as it looked after the Big Bang, which took place about 13.8 billion years ago. Examining objects that are, say, 10 billion light-years away, we see them as they looked 10 billion years ago, relatively soon after the beginning of the universe, rather than how they appear today.

To simplify how they measure the distance of stars is trigonometry.

Well, if a day is literally 24 hours then 24 hours after the earth was created would be the second day since the heaven and earth were created in the beginning.

I agree, the light show be visible once the sun begins to emit light although it might take 8 minutes or so to begin illuminating the earth.

But if God didn't mention until the 4th day the sun and the moon, was there "time" before that?

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years

Genesis 1:15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Genesis 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

Genesis 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness and God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

I do not know... The Bible does not define how long the duration of each of the 6 days of creation where.. And we know that a Day to the LORD has no relation to a earth 24 hour day..

2 Peter 3: KJV
8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."

Note the first 24 hour day.. Earth day did not come into existence until the 4th Day of Creation..

Genesis 1: KJV
16 "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. {17} And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, {18} And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. {19} And the evening and the morning were the fourth day."
If plant life was created on the third day and the sun on the fourth day, it had to be a 24 hour period because plant life could not survive a thousand years without sun light.

Also, the verse says one day is AS a thousand years, which is not to be taken literally.

Lastly, Exodus 20 leaves no doubt:

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

that would be saying it’s impossible for God to sustain plants for longer than a day.

People lived longer back in the day, like Methusalah was about 900 years old. So the days must have gone by quicker or something. Imagine. Its your birthday...AGAIN?! happy 900 years man. Thats soooo young.

Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

I believe the 6 days of creation are 6 literal days, 24 hour periods, and the 7th day is a literal day to represent our 7 day week.

Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

For every day it states the evening and the morning.

Gen 1:12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Also if people are trying to justify a long period because they believe in evolution everything was made after their kind and not an evolutionary process, which God created everything in their mature form and they reproduced from there.

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

God created Adam and Eve in His image, which could not be an evolutionary process, and they were made of the dust of the earth as all the other creatures.

Gen 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

Adam and Eve and all the creatures were made from the dust of the earth, after their kind, and not an evolutionary process.

Luk 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Mat 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

God understands the workings of physical matter, and can form anything He wants with it right away, and is an omnipresent Spirit.

God can create fast for He does not have to move from place to place for He is already there, and can create things simultaneously, and by the time it takes Him to make one bird He made them all along with all the fish in the sea, and the time it takes Him to make one star He made them all.

Also why would God use evolution, or take many years to make things, when He can create things fast, and in their mature form, and His purpose is to have fellowship with people not to take many years to get to that point whether evolution or not.

I believe it is a literal 6 days for the evening and the morning was a certain day in creation.

If the earth is older than that then there was a creation before this one of beings that God did away with that creation, but with this creation it is 6 days.

Evolution will be standard religion in the future when the nations come together as they will believe that they are still evolving to be greater and spiritual so they will want people to embrace evolution, and look at the Bible that way.

Why do you think they took prayer out of school in America and taught evolution, and science goes along with it, but they are telling outlandish things to support it and make it out that the Bible account of creation surely cannot be right.

This dinosaur lived at that time, and that star is that far away, and the earth is this billions of years old, and the big bang happened this many years ago, and the first galaxy was formed this many years ago, and the Hubble telescope can see more than 13 billion light years away.

I believe they are making it up so that people cannot deny that it is true, and the Bible must be wrong.

They do not want to believe in a God, and believe evolution, but they are trying to make it out that evolution is certainly true, and no personal God by their outlandish claims to make it even more convincing among many.

1Ti 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
1Ti 6:21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

Looks like you are inadvertently removing the [ / quote ] that encloses the post being quoted, or possibly starting inside the quote before the [ / quote] resulting in your comment being enclosed with the comment of the person you are quoting.
