People every so often come up with this cliché: "how is God so horrible to allow such evils to happen, I suddenly woke up to the fact the world is laden with evil, I can't be a Christian anymore, now after such and so forth happened to me"...?
And I always ask myself this, we live in a world that saw holocausts. Why did it take something happening to you and yours, for you to go, "oh, wow, the world is so messed up"? Why should that be a decisive factor? I thought it was equally horrible previously, when it happened to others? So why change your mind now?

And I always ask myself this, we live in a world that saw holocausts. Why did it take something happening to you and yours, for you to go, "oh, wow, the world is so messed up"? Why should that be a decisive factor? I thought it was equally horrible previously, when it happened to others? So why change your mind now?
It is like going to a funeral of an acquaintance vs someone you bonded with and loved.
Once very bad things are in my lap it is a game changer.
One component of our walk is the personal cross.
I was suppose to die to this world at conversion,and enforce that death daily.
Anything but Gods perspective is to be dealt with.
That includes being EMOTIONALLY CENTERED.
Emotionally centered people have a difficult walk and even a difficult secular life.
Hurt,anger,frustration,bitterness, grudges,unforgiveness, are all tools to shipwreck believers.

I just learned yesterday that the female mistakenly killed in her apt had a boyfriend that opened up on the cops first.
I dont know if that was included by the news or not but what you are getting for info sounds like you are listening to propaganda where these rare events are being magnified.

So, it's okay and I can be Christian when atrocities happen to others, then the world is tolerable for me, but when they start happening to me and mine, then I am Christian no more, and I'm now going to be soapboxing to other Christians how bad and incongruous they are for keeping their faith. Excuse me? Where were you earlier while it was happening to others?
And it's a question mark whether these Christians actually surrendered their life to Jesus to begin with. I knew when I was saved, life was not my own any more to pursue happiness, if it happens it happens but I decided to follow Jesus. That's where happy go lucky evangelical interpretations - be a Christian and you will be "blessed" - snare people. And, people not knowing what "blessed" means, too. They read, you are blessed when people persecute you, then go "that means I will be happy and rescued in persecution when I pray". But that's not what Jesus said. Ego death is the goal. The truth was told us in the seed design mechanism.

@saintrose its not all about YOU. I know it hurts, but Jesus suffered on the cross too and it bloody hurt. Why didnt God prevent that? Well he did ask why! It so He could save others.

I am so sorry that some Christians have let you down. It is sad, but thank God, we all have Jesus to help us when humans let us down.
Church should be a place we go to worship Him and to bless others, all for His glory. We all are being established but the only way any of us are going to be presented blameless is because of Him, through Him. He gets all the glory.
I know that when you find a church that doesn't as a whole honor God, be thankful that it was made clear so that you can pray more, and perhaps seek another church home
In my opinion, the more we see darkness, the more our focus needs be Him and His light. He is a God who sees and He is working.
Please don't allow bad experiences limit your potential to find a church home.
