Though I'd put my bit in here, being a baptist myself

drinking and dancing aren't sins.. when they are done appropriately..

drinking.. becomes sinful when you offend another christian who sees you drink- and when you over do it...
one drink? Not a problem if it has very little affect on ya body. Dancing? becomes a sin when the motive is lustful or suggestive.. and same thing applies where if it offends another christian.. don do it.

As for the thing with clapping hands and shouting and all in church service.. is all good as long as it is about God and not about attention seeking or detracting from what you are meant to praising God about.

Aside from all this.. a saved person has all sins forgiven. .so there is no condemnation carried in being sinful with dance and drink.. but discipline and correction.

that's my 2 cents

how's it a sin to get under someone else's skin when you drink? I think some Christians are going to be offended by every little thing they aren't used to. Some people get offended when you raise your hands to praise God. I think it depends on what they are getting offended about.

I grew up in a VERY conservative Baptist church and Baptist church school. There was no drinking, no dancing, no movies, a six-inch rule(between opposite sexes who were not married), no pants, and no rock music - even Christian rock. When you grow up that way, very isolated from these things, you dont notice it as much. However, it is a bit of a culture shock when you are finally exposed to it. I dont know that I minded when I was a kid, (except the six inch rule was annoying when not violated on purpose) However, I do not think we were ever given a specific reason as to why we could not do those things. It was just a given. I also would like to say that Baptists who believe that way are not stupid in any way. My parents are both Mensa geniuses and many of the people that I was raised with are very, very intelligent. And they have a right to their own beliefs. If you do not like or agree with their belief system and their interpretation of the Bible and its laws, then I would say, dont go to their church or follow their beliefs. I would like to think that as Christians we can be tolerant and respectful of others beliefs especially since these issues have nothing to do with salvation.

i think...the drink and dance is bad because, you don´t worship God when you dance music from this world....and drink the bible talk about that, and that is wrong!!.... you have to dancing only for JesusChrist, because your body is the house for the Holly Spirit. God bless you everyone!!

Drinking: If a drink was offered up to me by a freind (when i become of age) I might accept his/her offer. As a christain would refrain myself from drinking more then 2-3 drinks. If i was to have more i may become drunk, through which is a sin and would be more suceptable to commit sinful acts. Although with alchohol, how many times can 1 beer turn into 5? So at best of times is it not better not to drink at all?

Dancing: Another example of something that if without restraint can lead to being sinful. Something like dancing with your wife at a formal party, is an example of restraint. An example which leads to being sinfull is something like a strip dance or any dance that is a display of pleasure.

Alot sinfull stuff can happen if you dont Restrain yourself! Also, before commenting on something you have knoweldge (or just to blurt out whatever befoe thinking) about please, please ponder, think, or research. It will make life easier for alot of people :)

well thats pretty much it. Peace out and God bless!
