1.) Keep the day holy. It is not a day for profane, mindless entertainment...

Exo 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

2.) We do not work on the Sabbath. We have six days to earn a living, mow grass, paint the house etc., the seventh day belongs to God...

Exo 20:9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.

3.) Remember and honor the God of creation...

Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

4.) We attend church...

Lev 23:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.
Lev 23:3 'Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Heb 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Psa 92:1 A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath Day. It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

5.) A day that gives us extra tiem for study and prayer...

Isa 58:13 "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the LORD honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words,
Isa 58:14 Then you shall delight yourself in the LORD; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the LORD has spoken."

6.) A day to visit the elderly, shutins and the sick...

Luk 13:15 The Lord then answered him and said, "Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?
Luk 13:16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?"

7.) The Sabbath is a Feast day, we have a special meal. Perhaps special deserts, a nice meal, not a fast food heart attack on a plate...

Lev 23:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.
One cannot make himself more holy than his contemporaries by the faith of just observing the requirements of the the written code of law.

Exactly; "all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3.23); what we really need is the grace of God in the Gospel, by which we are justified through faith in the Lord Jesus and His finished work at the Cross.

Isn't the real reason people don't follow the 613 commandments the fact that 90+% of the converts to Christianity were not jewish, therefore did not understand nor want to follow them?

The whole "born again"(and other variants) is a nice try, but it does not say "disregard every commandment I sent to you over a thousand years".
Acts 15:5-10
[SUP]5 [/SUP]But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

If you were born again you would understand not being under the law. You don't understand because you aren't and don't believe.

Galatians 3:10-12
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Galatians 3:23-26

[SUP]23 [/SUP]But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 2:21
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Christians were given the gospel. The way of righteousness and hope. IF Moses law were to be a part of it it would have been added. If Moses law were to be dissected and some of it kept and some of it disposed of, that also would have been spelled out. But, as you can see by the bible, the law is not of faith. And faith is exactly what Christians are to walk in.

The finished work of Jesus Christ is that he has made an addition to the law. The false assumption that his death was in your place is derived by observing the written code of law. No person will be declared righteous by God by observance of the written code.

Yes, the Lord Jesus Himself taught the new birth (John 3).

It cannot be lightly dismissed.

Blessings.

Believers can say with 1 Peter 3.8: 'Christ suffered for us, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God'.

The finished work of Christ is that He gave us something that would cause our Righteousness, and He took away what could never cause our Righteousness.

Simplicity that is in Christ

Galatians 3:23-26

Great passage.

Justification is such an important doctrine.

In order for any individual to experience the new birth it has been established by an addition to the law the requirement of first resolving the murder of Jesus Christ by the faith of obeying the law which has been added. Since it is the rule of law there are no exceptions whatsoever. "Make every effort on your part to enter through the gate." Because if you do not have the faith to actually use that gate by the faith of obeying the law which has been added entry into God's kingdom is disallowed because of disobedience of a law.

Observing and obeying the Law does not make one holy, neither does disregarding it.

Oh, so Christ did not die for me?

Rom 5:6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Hmmm, that only took one verse to shoot down.

OK upstart answer me. What does the scripture say that has happened to the law AFTER Jesus Christ's murder, burial, resurrection and ASCENSION? Was the law abolished or was it strengthened by adding a word to it?
"For it is not those who just hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who OBEY the law who will be declared righteous." Rom. 2:13
Now! Whom is it that shot himself in his head? Me or thee?

Just answering your assertion that it was a false asumption that Jesus died for us.

That Christ did die for the ungodly is not in dispute, but he did not die in anyone's place.

Look SDA, CoC or whatever your religious affiliation is. There is no disparagement on my part of despising the commandments of God. Your allegation is fully a falsehood. What your assumption is, and it is unilaterally false, is obedience of the written code is sufficient for being declared righteous by God. However the new wine was not placed into any formally used wine skin! Whomever tastes the old wine first absolutely despises the new wine and the wine skin that contains it!

*Sigh* One record, keeps a-spinning.
Five people, already, have said how they agree with this about the seventh day of creation!

Gen 2:3 God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.

Wouldn't make any difference if there were a hundred or a thousand more. I can just as well sit on my duff on Tuesday and Saturday to outclass an SDA. True rest from the struggle to obtain righteousness is not obtained on the seventh day rather it is the eighth day.

After we have received salvation through Christ, do you think it means we are to ignore every suggestion scripture gives about how to live successfully and well? We are to be rewarded by our good works, and we are to be judged by our works according to scripture.

Perhaps, after you go to the Lord for your salvation you are then done with anything the Lord tells you? That is a pretty frightening way to live. You have eternal life through grace, Scripture speaks of more God wants to give you.

I don't think that anyone saved are into despising! Sounds like something a baby having a tantrum would do.

The Law is not binding on those Christ died for because they have through Him kept it perfectly ! Rom 8:4

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.or by Faith
