If you deny the Lord and His guidance, refuse to belong to the Lord or listen to Him, then you are too deep in sin to be forgiven.
Which Bible are you reading? Is God's arm too short? Is Jesus' death not enough to cover sin?

We were ALL sinners in need of forgiveness. We ALL denied the Lord and His guidance, refusing to belong or listen to Him, but He showed mercy.

Jesus Christ is the Sabbath. As far as the penalty for not observing the Sabbath, well you know how that goes.
There is no scripture that says Jesus is the Sabbath. The Gospel rest which we receive from believing and following God's word is not the day of rest given at creation before mankind ever sinned.

Jesus death is enough to cover any sin EXCEPT denying God.

To deny that God created our earth as we are told is putting your soul in great jeopardy. Is the creation of the seventh day the only thing of the Lord you deny?

Paul explains it well in Roman 7: 15 to 20. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

We lie to ourselves if we say we are perfect, but if we will to follow sin we are denying Christ.

Step up and quote me where I have denied the creation of the seventh day.

I DID refer to "you", and you are so right you have never denied the Sabbath. I am deep in praying, searching scripture, and thinking through what God tells us of honoring the Sabbath, and writing down what I discover. There should never, ever, be a "you" in this!

I just thought of a question as im doing study notes for Leviticus: WHY was the sabbath so important that you get stoned if you dont keep it?

I wonder about that cause a lot of the stuff in that chapter is about morality, the book of Levitiicus is actually one Jesus quotes the love thy neighbor from, yet its in the midst of: Stone em for not keeping sabbath.

Now I dont got nothing against a penalty like that obviously since its God mandated there

BUT my question is WHY is the penalty for not keeping the sabbath so severe? I dont get the importance of NOT WORKING on a certain day, what is the moral signifance?
According to the commandment of Jesus the Christ you are not to work on any day other than to work for that which endureth to eternal life.

Jesus is our rest. He is the peace that comes with taking a day off and focusing on the Lord. My words are metaphorical. I pray you know, understand, embrace and experience the peace of God that goes beyond all understanding; the peace of knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Now relax.

Actually no brother there is no scripture to support the teaching that Jesus is a Sabbath. The Gospel rest which we receive from believing and following God's word is not the day of rest given at creation before mankind ever sinned. See Genesis 2:1-3

Do you not experience peace, tranquility and rejuvenation when reading Scripture, singing hymns, talking about Jesus, praying, meditating, fasting, helping others? That’s the peace I’m talking about, and it goes beyond observing a day of the week.

This is so true, but it is a different subject from the discussion of honoring the Sabbath. If we do all we can to live in harmony with the Lord's ways, it is part of this peace and honoring the Sabbath is part of it.

Sure, it is the gospel rest. It is not the day of rest that God set apart and made a holy day that God's words says is the seventh day of the week. You are mixing up the two.

Also, the Sabbath was important as one of God's 10 commandments because God made the day a Holy day and set it aside on the seventh day of the creation week in Genesis for all mankind as a day of rest and memorial of God as the creator of heaven and earth.

blessings.
Although God's rest on the seventh day (Genesis 2:3) did foreshadow a future Sabbath law, there is no Biblical record of the Sabbath before the children of Israel left the land of Egypt. Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that Sabbath keeping was practiced from Adam to Moses. The word "Sabbath" first appears in Exodus 16:23 - Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.

The Word of God makes it quite clear that Sabbath observance was a sign between God and Israel:“The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested” (Exodus 31:16-17).

In Deuteronomy 5, Moses restates the Ten Commandments to the next generation of Israelites. Here, after commanding Sabbath observance in verses 12–14, Moses gives the reason the Sabbath was given to the nation Israel: “Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day” (Deuteronomy 5:15).

Hi dan, nice to see you.

Actually that is actually impossible that God's 4th commandment is a future Sabbath as it is a part of the finished work of a perfect creation before sin entered into the world and before a need for God's plan of salvation after sin entered. The Sabbath was made at the seventh day of the creation week at the end of creation before sin entered the world when mankind was made in perfect harmony with the creator (Genesis 2:1-3). At this time there was no sin and God blessed the seventh day and made it a holy day for mankind (Mark 2:27)

It is interesting when you do a Hebrew word study on Sabbath from God's 4th commandment found in Exodus 20:8-11 which simply means from one sabbath to another or every sabbath H7676; shabbâth; Intensive from H7673; intermission, that is, (specifically) the Sabbath: - (+ every) sabbath. This is the noun of what is being kept which is descriptive of the root word which in God's 4th commandments is every seventh day.

The verb is the doing of sabbath or how the sabbath is kept can be found from ther root word of sabbath which is H7373 שׁבת; shâbath which is the verb form of Sabbath or how the Sabbath is kept by resting. For example from Genesis 2:1-3 where God set apart and made the seventh day a holy day for mankind before sin the word used for keeping Sabbath is translated as rest, rested which is the root word verb form of sabbath H7373 shâbath and means; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

This is what we are commanded to do in keeping the seventh day as a holy day in God's 4th commandments in Exodus 20:8-11.

God bless brother :)

but the root word is
You can argue root word all you want, BUT the word "Sabbath" appears nowhere in Genesis. I do agree that God blessed the 7th day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. (Genesis 2:3) Can you show me where anyone PRIOR TO EXODUS 16:23 was told to keep the Sabbath day?

In regards to Mark 2:27, the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, so the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath," this statement was in response to the accusation by the Pharisees that His disciples were breaking the law regarding resting on the Sabbath while going through some fields and plucking heads of grain (Matthew 12:1-8; Mark 2:23-28; Luke 6:1-5).

Jesus responded by giving an example from the Old Testament that David was once in need of food and was given consecrated bread that was only lawful for the priests to eat (1 Samuel 21:1-6). The bread had served a practical need for David and his followers, just as with Jesus and His disciples, the grain served a practical need. David and his men were not acting sinfully in eating the showbread, and neither were Jesus’ disciples acting sinfully in plucking heads of grain on the Sabbath. Jesus concludes, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27-28) Jesus' response to the accusing Pharisees contains two important teachings.

First, the Sabbath was intended to help people, not burden them. In contrast with the hard daily work as slaves in Egypt, the Israelites were commanded to take a day of rest each week under the Mosaic Law. The Pharisees had turned the Sabbath into a burden, adding restrictions beyond what God’s law said. The disciples had not broken God’s law; they had only violated the Pharisees’ legalistic, interpretation of the law. Jesus reminded the Pharisees of the original intent of the Sabbath rest. Jesus statement does not teach that the Sabbath was made for all mankind, as you suppose.

Jesus said, "the Sabbath was made for man," not all mankind. When Scripture is meant to be inclusive of all mankind it is clear. *See (Matthew 28:19; John 3:16; Acts 2:17; 1 Timothy 2:4; Titus 2:11). These verses clearly indicate that when God offers something to all mankind He clearly offers it to all.

The Sabbath was not given to all the nations. It was given to the nation of Israel. Look at Deuteronomy 5:1-15 which gives the commandments to Israel. 2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 3 The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive.

Nehemiah 9:13 - "Then You came down on Mount Sinai, And spoke with them from heaven; You gave them just ordinances and true laws, Good statutes and commandments. 14 So You made known to them Your holy sabbath, And laid down for them commandments, statutes and law, Through Your servant Moses." *Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that Sabbath keeping was practiced from Adam to Moses.

The Word of God makes it clear that Sabbath observance was a sign between God and Israel: "The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. Hello Dan,

You seem to not have read what I posted in my last post to you and are just brushing off what I posted to you as not true without addressing the post that was sent to you. What was it in the post that I said to you that was not true as you see it? I noticed you did not address my post to you at all you simply choose to ignore it.

It may help if I ask you some simple question that may help our discussion.

Q1. How can the Sabbath be a shadow of anything if it is a part of the finished work of creation that God blessed, set apart and made Holy as part of a perfect work of creation before sin entered the world?

Q2. The Hebrew Word for rest and rested is the verb and root word for keeping the sabbath while the noun form is descriptive of what is being kept (Sabbath). This is like asking the question; how do I keep the Sabbath? What is being kept is the noun which is Sabbath while how to keep the Sabbath is the verd which is by resting on the Sabbath. Now why do you try to dismiss this as nothing when it is God that says we are to keep the Sabbath on the seventh day at the creation week where God blessed the Sabbath and set it apart as a holy day in the creation week for all mankind which are the very words of Jesus himself (Mark 2:27)?

Q3. What your ignoring here in the previous post to you is that the Sabbath's was made for mankind and has it's origin at creation and is a part of a perfect world when there was no sin at which time God blessed the seventh day of the creation week and set it aside as a memorial and celebration of creation and commands his people to keep it as a holy day (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11) expressly spoken and written by God himself as one of God's 10 commandments that give us a knowledge of what sin is if we break it (Exodus 20:8-11; Romans 3:20). Now how can God's Sabbath be only for the Israelites when it was made for mankind before there even was a Jew or an Israelite?

I could ask you some more questions here brother Dan but I think these three will be good to start with and will help the discussion so we are not talking over each other. What do you say?

Blessings.

Hello Dan,

You seem to not have read what I posted in my last post to you and are just brushing off what I posted to you as not true without addressing the post that was sent to you. What was it in the post that I said to you that was not true as you see it? I noticed you did not address my post to you at all you simply choose to ignore it. Actually, I did address your post.

Q1. How can the Sabbath be a shadow of anything if it is a part of the finished work of creation that God blessed, set apart and made Holy as part of a perfect work of creation before sin entered the world?
Sabbatarians will often argue that the Sabbath did not begin at the Exodus but at creation, and, therefore, cannot be a shadow of Christ, since the Sabbath came before sin. However, in the second giving of the Ten Commandments, the reason for keeping the Sabbath was to "Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore, the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day." (Deuteronomy 5:15) Certainly God's deliverance of Israel from slavery foreshadows Christ's deliverance of believers from their slavery to sin.

Where did God command EVERYONE to keep the Sabbath on the seventh day? If every man from Adam to Moses kept the Sabbath, why is the Hebrew word for the weekly Sabbath found in the Ten Commandments, never found in the book of Genesis? Why is no one before Moses ever being told to keep the Sabbath? Why are there no examples of anyone keeping the Sabbath before Moses? Why were the Patriarchs never instructed about the Sabbath, but were instructed regarding: offerings: Genesis 4:3-4, Altars Genesis 8:20, Priests: Genesis 14:18, Tithes: Genesis 14:20, Circumcision: Genesis 17:10, Marriage: Genesis 2:24 and Genesis 34:9. Why would God leave out the Sabbath command in Genesis if it was for everyone to keep before Moses? You are ignoring the CONTEXT of Mark 2:27 and are misinterpreting the words of Jesus.

As I previously explained, Jesus said, "the Sabbath was made for man," not all mankind. *I see that you completely ignored (Exodus 31:16-17; Deuteronomy 5:12-15; Nehemiah 9:13).

It could ask you many more questions here brother Dan but I think these three will be good to start with and will help the discussion so we are not talking over each other. What do you say?
Your arguments and writing style sound very familiar. Have you been here before under a different avatar name?

BTW the Church is NOT under the Old Covenant. Sabbath keeping with all it's rules and regulations, was part of a covenant with Israel (Exodus 16:23, 29; 31:12-18; 35:1-3; Leviticus 19:30; 23:2-3, 32; Numbers 15:32-36; 28:1-10; 29:39-40; I Chronicles. 23:30-31; II Chronicles 31:2-4; Isaiah 1:13; Amos 8:5; Nehemiah 10:31) that is not binding on Christians under the New Covenant. (Colossians 2:16-17) The Bible nowhere describes The Church/Christians setting aside the Sabbath day as the day of worship. The only Scriptures that describe Christians meeting on the Sabbath are in fact pointing to evangelistic efforts at Jewish synagogues, which met on the Sabbath day.

Good question with some good answers. I too have wondered about the “stoning aspect as punishment. In all of Scripture I can remember only one instance of an actual stoning carried out, and that directed by God for Achan, who had buried contraband in his tent.

So with so much emphasis on “stoning” as a penalty, is there any evidence that it was used to any extent within Israel?

Why would God leave out the Sabbath command in Genesis if it was for everyone to keep before Moses? You are ignoring the CONTEXT of Mark 2:27 and are misinterpreting the words of Jesus.

As I previously explained, Jesus said, "the Sabbath was made for man," not all mankind. *I see that you completely ignored (Exodus 31:16-17; Deuteronomy 5:12-15; Nehemiah 9:13).

Hello Dan, I appreciate your time in your posting but you did not answer a single question that I asked you. If you do not wish to answer the questions asked of you and have a discussion just say so. You do not have to if you do not want to as I understand these questions must be difficult for your position. I am sure we both have better things to do.

Blessings

I actually did answer your questions. You just did not receive answers that you wanted to hear. I noticed that you did not answer my questions.

Q1. Can you show me where anyone prior to Exodus 16:23 was told to keep the Sabbath day?

Q2. If every man from Adam to Moses kept the Sabbath, why is the Hebrew word for the weekly Sabbath found in the Ten Commandments, never found in the book of Genesis?

Q3. Why is no one before Moses ever being told to keep the Sabbath?

Q4. Why are there no examples of anyone keeping the Sabbath before Moses?

Q5. Why were the Patriarchs never instructed about the Sabbath, but were instructed regarding: offerings: Genesis 4:3-4, Altars Genesis 8:20, Priests: Genesis 14:18, Tithes: Genesis 14:20, Circumcision: Genesis 17:10, Marriage: Genesis 2:24 and Genesis 34:9?

Q6. Why would God leave out the Sabbath command in Genesis if it was for everyone to keep before Moses?

It sounds to me like you are more interested in winning an argument than you are in seriously considering the truth. You do not have to my questions if you do not want to as I understand these questions must be difficult for your position. ;)

There is no scripture that says Jesus is the Sabbath. The Gospel rest which we receive from believing and following God's word is not the day of rest given at creation before mankind ever sinned.

The word Sabbath has no time element whatsoever . it simply means rest with no other meaning added.

Anytime we mix faith in what we hear (Hebrew 4:1-4) as our God works in us to both will and do his good pleasure. . . we have entered His rest .It is God who does make our hearts soft through the water of His word. . . the gospel..

The ceremonial rest is one day set aside from normal work that person can get the true gospel out into the world.

The person stoned for gathering firewood violated the ceremonial fast . The day before he was to gather enough (Manna) for the following day, boiling it over a wood fire so that it could be eaten and shared the next day .Three kosher meals made out of the cooked manna were allowed. Someone waited to long and were used as a example of the importance of getting the gospel out.
