How does one work for salvation?
By getting baptised in water TO BE SAVED
By going to church TO BE SAVED
By giving to the poor TO BE SAVED.
by doing ANY work of righteousness TO BE SAVED.
Acts 2 does not say be baptised to be saved, it says because you were saved. But you refuse to see this, You place more work on NT believers than an OT believer ever had to do.
it says....
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
How does faith work?
Faith says I am a sinner, in a hopeless situation. Dead. God said he came a paid my debt. that if I trust him, he will save me from myself.
Faith says I trust him.
Faith also says the things I do are damaging to me and those around me, as God says, God says also that if we do this, we will be better off. Faith says I trust God so I will do them.
What does mere belief say?
It says I believe God, I think he did die for me, But I do not trust him. So I will do these works, and through these works, God will see my sincerity of wanting to please him, and save me, The problem is, he still has the sin issue, He is still dead, why? because he still does not have faith in God to save him completely. He thinks God needs his help. so he works hard to please God and in doing so, trusts self more than God.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And,
let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
