LaylieCalmMind. You do believe in God, because you acknowledge Him as God, How can you acknowledge something if it does not exist? Hello, you athiest prove He exists, and you don't even realize it. God is great!!!!!! lol

My home was extremely serious about practicing, church twice a week, prayer before every meal, prayer before sleep, everything they said or did revolved around their religious beliefs. And I did obtain a faith separate of that which my parents and church drilled into me as a child. Before I lost my faith, I had a faith that vastly differed from my parents, it was a better faith that did not believe in violence or bigotry. Please stop assuming that everyone who doesn't agree with you, didn't give what you believe a chance, or is biased against you...
I don't have to assume that your biased against my faith, you kinda let it slip out. It's not that your biased against me but the bible. Please don't assume you understand the christian faith, you must be born again to see the kingdom of God.

I'm sorry if I was unclear. I did not say that your faith had anything to do with violence or bigotry, I was only saying that my parent's faith did. Sorry for the mix-up, but that's not what I meant at all. :)

As for understanding the Christian faith, well there's a lot to that. Whose Christian faith are we speaking of? There's millions of different faiths that all consider themselves Christian. There's tons of people who would say that you don't understand it and believe the wrong things, doesn't make them right, doesn't make you right either. But keeping in mind what is possible for one person, I understand Christianity in terms of knowledge and experience very much. Read the Bible, and at one point believed it was divine and holy, prayed multiple times per day...

I'm referring to god as an idea, as he is in your beliefs, as he is written to be in the Bible. This is not a very good argument to use...

Just a couple of facts for you.

We didn't come out of nothing.
God created everything.
Jesus lived, Jesus was crucified, Jesus is risen.
No other person has claimed what He has and done what He has.
The bible is indeed the very word of God, you can agree with it or not.
Every book in the bible signals back to Jesus, from Genesis to Revelation.
No other book has accomplished as many prophecies as this book has.
No other religion (BTW Christianity isn't a religion) claims to have a God that is personal.
And most important of all, no other religion will ever tell you that God loved you so much that He died for you.
In every other religion you have to do something to earn your way to heaven.
Christianity claims the simple fact that there is nothing we can do to earn our place with the Father.
Jesus is a gift to all of humanity that the Father willingly sacrificed out of pure love.

But it is not because of these conditions that I as a human being have believed these things, because when I first believed I really didn't walk with God.
God made Himself known through things happening in my life that clearly stated that it was Him calling me. And after then not a day passes by where I know His spirit is within me and leading my life. I do not follow a blind faith, rather a living God who is alive and doing awesome things in my life and in the lives of all of whom belong to Him.

Wakeup: I have no idea what it is that you are trying to say here with a quote of my post and that verse. Please explain
Maggie
No one will be tortured forever and ever in hell, simply beacause hell is the common grave.
Jesus went to hell for 3days: his grave.
The lake of fire how ever is a place of total destruction, even satan will turn into ashes.
If one is sentenced to the lake of fire it means total destruction for ever.
God is not a cruel being by torturing for ever and ever; God said ,Till evil be no more, not even in hell being totured, forever. Evil will be non existent anywhere in the universe.

I can't just make myself believe in something. I can't make myself believe I have 12 fingers when I only have 10. There is no choice, there is simply what I have come to know and the honest conclusion that brings me to. No one chooses hell, not one. What don't you understand about lack of belief? There's no solid reasons to believe that the Bible is true over what Islam or Hinduism would tell people, there's no solid reason to believe in any religion... You're really saying that everyone who doesn't agree with you, is choosing to go to hell, and deserves it.

Wouldn't even matter if we were choosing it more directly, which we aren't. According to you we're still god's children, and he's still torturing the vast majority of us for all eternity. Child abuse makes me sick, there is no justification for harming a child. It's like a parent who beats their child saying the child was asking for it when the kid stole some cookies.

You should add more types, I think some good ones would be, moral, compassionate, kind, peaceful non-believers. Because you clearly view non-believers negatively, as you choose to portray them all as possessing of terrible qualities... It's unfair.

You should read the history of Jesus crist, and all the historical evidence
of this man. Is this man real or is he just a story, find out his history what he did in his life, was he realy what he claims to be if not, than he would be the greatest deception in history.Five hundred people saw him resurected from the dead and they are willing to die for their
testimony. If Jesus turns out to be a fake, what have you got to loose, but if he is true what will you loose? Everlasting life.
