Insensitive folk who come from the womb unable to feel compassion, are in
very grave danger of the sum of all fears.

Matt 5:7 . . Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Jas 2:13 . . For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no
mercy.

As an experiment, keep an ear attuned for people who respond to the news
of someone's misfortune by saying "It could've been worse." That's a
sympathy-challenged person.

NOTE: There are a number instructional web sites offering lists of helpful
do's and don'ts to assist sympathy-challenged people to at least respond
properly to others' misfortunes.

FAQ: Did Adam know it was wrong to taste the forbidden fruit?

A: Right and wrong were irrelevant in the beginning. Adam's early life was
steered, not by his conscience, rather, by sovereign oversight.

Had Adam's creator instructed him to eat human flesh, then the
responsibility for his diet would've fallen upon God. In other words; God's
sovereignty served as Adam's conscience. As to whether cannibalism is
morally right and/or morally wrong wouldn't have been for Adam to decide.

Rev 20:13 . . I saw the dead, and they were judged, every one of them

That verse says that "every one" of them were judged. Well; I don't know
precisely how many every one will eventually entail, but let's say that it's the
number of new arrivals posted in the last update.

If each of those 8,486,400 judgments were to take an hour to complete,
we'd be looking at 353,600 calendar days, i.e. 968 solar years-- that's if the
judging goes around the clock 24/7/365.

Just think of that. In only 136 days since beginning the thread, enough
cases have accumulated on our hypothetical docket to keep the great white
throne busy a minimum of 9.6 centuries. Of course that's only for starters
because the update doesn't take into account the number of lost souls prior
to July 03, 2021 and going all the way back to Adam.

I once commented to a Christian friend about how long it might take for God
to judge the whole world. My friend responded: Well; he has plenty of time.

Rev 20:13 . . I saw the dead, and they were judged, every one of them

There's a few points related to that scene worth special mention.

1» According to Jude 1:14-15 the dead will be given a fair trial.

2» According to Matt 12:36, every word that the dead have spoken will used
as evidence both against them and/or for them; not just their serious words,
but also their careless words.

3» The scene doesn't depict one future out of a variety of possible futures;
no, it depicts the actual future.

1Kings 22:18-23 . . I saw Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of
heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left. And Jehovah said: Who
will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said this while
another said that.

. . .Then a spirit came forward and stood before Jehovah and said: I will
entice him.

. . . And Jehovah said to him: How?

. . . And he said; I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his
prophets.

. . .Then He said: You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so.

. . . Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth
of all these your prophets; and Jehovah has proclaimed disaster against you.

That scene depicts a very strange alliance. God actually recruited someone
from the demon world to do some dirty work for Him: a black op, so to
speak. That suggests to me that the demon world is neither totally useless
nor totally in Satan's control; some are actually assets, which can be defined
as something useful in an effort to foil or defeat an enemy: such as a piece
of military equipment, a spy, or an assassin.

It's likely that God still manages some of His affairs like that even today
when He wants certain individuals destroyed without getting His hands dirty.
For example from post No.1 it's seen that some folks are on a road to Hell
while others are on a road to something better, i.e. the few and the many. I
really have to wonder if maybe some of those many on the road to Hell
weren't talked into going that way by spirits recruited by God to do it for
Him. Now that's scary. Can you just imagine the horror of being targeted
like that and not aware of it! (cf. 2Thess 2:8-12)

Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot released a sentimental song back in
1975 that speaks volumes about sympathy. Its lyrics are very touching.
Here's a few that I feel especially appropriate when talking about things like
sickness, death, and the hereafter.

Rainy day people always seem to know when it's time to call.
Rainy day people don't talk, they just listen till they've heard it all.
Rainy day lovers don't lie when they tell 'ya they've been down like you.
Rainy day people don't mind if you're cryin' a tear or two.

I sometimes wonder how much sympathy one can expect in the fiery
netherworld. I mean; sure they'll understand how we might feel about the
unfortunate circumstances in life that led us down there, but once you're
there, everyone's pretty much in the same boat and they're all longing for
sympathy too.

In point of fact, I'd not be surprised if the competition for sympathy down
there is on the level of dog eat dog; and likely a fair number of sympathy
hoarders demanding total market share of it. I can just hear their feigned
indignity; like this:

"Oh, stop whining already! Don't be such a baby. I deserve a lot more pity
than you. I've been down here for two millennia and you've only been down
here for a decade. What've you got to cry about? You should be grateful that
your time down here will end up shorter than mine."

I'd imagine that after a few years in that place the only sympathy that
people can feel after a while is sympathy for themselves because nobody is
getting out down there; they're all lifers so it's not unlikely that the only
humanity that inmates pay forward in that place is misery.

Matt 7:13-14 . . Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and
broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But
small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find
it.

Matt 22:14 . . For many are called, but few are chosen.

Few and Many are relative quantities regardless of their amounts.

For example; no matter how many people are represented by the great
crowd depicted at Rev 7:9-10, their number will be less than the number of
folk represented by the dead depicted at Rev 20:11-15.

In other words: the number of people ultimately saved will be less than the
number of people ultimately lost no matter how big or little their respective
numbers turn out to be.

Faith in Christ isn't an achievement like a Nobel prize in chemistry nor as if
one ran for public office or climbed a corporate ladder. None of us would be
an integrated member of Christ's body were it not for God's incredible IQ and
His access to a remarkable variety of supernatural resources.

Education and/or a high IQ have their uses; but are insufficient when it
comes to spiritual matters. In point of fact, those kinds of wisdom can
actually be an impediment. Take for example Carl Sagan. Had his knowledge
and his IQ been a spiritual advantage, then Carl would've stood on the side
of intelligent design instead of opposing it.

It's tragic that Carl went to his grave with his curiosity and so many
scientific questions about the cosmos unanswered, and to top it off, a day is
coming when even Carl's pale blue dot will no longer be available for study.

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first
earth were passed away." (Rev 21:1)

Can you imagine how delighted Carl would've been to explore Heaven's
libraries where everything to know that can be known about the cosmos is
stored? But alas, Carl will never find out because he was at best an agnostic,
at worst an atheist.

2Cor 5:11 . . Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

The Greek word translated "knowing" means to know firsthand, viz: by
experience rather than by education and/or instruction.

In other words; there were incidents at various times in the lives of Paul and
his contemporaries when God frightened them, i.e. scared 'em out of their
wits.

I have been challenged on occasion as to how I know for sure that my
religion is true. Well; there's nothing like a good old fashioned close
encounter of a third kind to convince even the most resistant skeptics; and
Paul's history attests that his was a really stubborn case.

Of course if any of us were to claim to "know" the terror of the Lord, we'd be
singled out as kooks and crackpots; but for some of us, fear is the only
persuasion that works.

Christ is often thought of as a pacifist. But the fact of the matter is, Christ
and the Old Testament's fearsome God are in total agreement.

John 10:30 . . I and my Father are unified.

In other words; Christ would never disapprove of the Flood, nor of the
incineration of Sodom and Gomorrah. In point of fact, via the person of the
Word of God depicted in the opening verses of John's gospel; the gentle
Jesus was on hand for those events, and only too happy to lend a hand.

John 8:29 . . He that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me
alone; for I do always those things that please Him.

It sometimes puzzles me why Christ's enemies weren't more afraid of him
because when you think about it: if he could cure blindness, then he could
just as easily cause it, and if he could cure paralysis, then he could just as
easily cause that too; and if he could cure the deaf and the dumb, then he
could just as easily take away people's ability to speak and hear; and if he
could cure leprosy, then he could just as easily infect people with it.

And if he could multiply a little to feed thousands, then he could just as
easily thwart abundance to cause the starvation of millions; and if he could
calm a storm, then he could just as easily generate a hurricane; and if he
could replace a severed ear, then he could just as easily remove an ear; and
if he could turn water into wine, then he could just as easily turn water into
acid; and if he could exorcise demons, then he could just as easily muster
demons for wide-spread possession.

The first time Christ came, he came as a victim; the next time he will come
as a conqueror. One day out ahead, the sweet little babe away in manger is
taking the reins of this planet, and his administration will be neither soft
hearted nor soft headed.

Ps 2:9-12 . .You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to
pieces like pottery. Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of
the earth. Serve The Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the son,
lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare
up in a moment.

I once heard an interviewed US Navy SEAL explain how that if SEALs were to

There's a humorous incident depicted in Dante's Inferno where these two

Hell more than the other.

Well; I think it goes without saying that people competitive to the bone are
not the kind of folk with whom God prefers to associate.

Rev 16:17-18 predicts a global earthquake so powerful on the Richter scale
that cities all over the world will collapse at once.

Something like 2,829 lost their lives when the World Trade Center was
demolished by a terrorist attack in 2001. Well that was only a few acres of
New York City. Just imagine the body count when all of Manhattan comes
down at once. along with other major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco,
Mexico City, Paris, Moscow, Beijing, Tokyo, et al. The carnage will be beyond
belief; and a great many of the dead will be infants and underage children.

The Bible says that we should consider not only God's benevolence, but also
His severity. We're dealing with a someone far more terrifying than even
North Korea, Communist China, and/or regimes in Africa.

Years ago it wasn't unusual to be called a religious fanatic for believing the
Genesis account of the creation of Man. Well; recently somebody online
called me an ignorant bigot because I stand by the Bible's physical gender
designations and refuse to accept the new political designations, e.g.
transgender and non binary.

Do they seriously think that the One who intelligently designed the cosmos--
all of its forms of life, matter, and energy --won't have the last word on their
gender identity?

Ps 2:1-5 . . Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain
thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel
together, against The Lord, and against His anointed, saying: Let us break
their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in
the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall He
speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.

When God is ignored; He can be expected to reciprocate.

Prv 1:24-33 . . I called you so often, but you didn't come. I reached out to
you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the
correction I offered. So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you
when disaster overtakes you-- when calamity overcomes you like a storm,
when you are engulfed by trouble, and when anguish and distress
overwhelm you.

. . . I will not answer when they cry for help. Even though they anxiously
search for me, they will not find me. For they hated knowledge and chose
not to fear The Lord. They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I
corrected them. That is why they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own
way. They must experience the full terror of the path they have chosen. For
they are simpletons who turn away from me-- to death. They are fools, and
their own complacency will destroy them. But all who listen to me will live in
peace and safety, unafraid of harm.

Case in point is Mr. Esau.

"Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even
afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he
found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears." (Heb
12:16-17)

The Greek word translated "repentance" is metanoia (met-an'-oy-ah) which
essentially means to change one's mind; viz: to reconsider.

Esau was secular to the bone. But he "got religion" right quick when he saw
his way of life costing him the blessing; but alas, the poor slob was a day
late and a dollar short; so to speak.

Lesson to be learned: The time for people to believe in Hell is not when they
get there, rather, before they get there.

Gen 38:15 . .When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for
she had covered her face.

The particular kind of prostitute in this episode is from the Hebrew word
qedeshah (ked-ay-shaw') which isn't your typical working girl, but rather a
devotee raising money for an established religion (Gen 38:21) typically a
pagan kind of religion centered upon the worship of a goddess like Ashtoreth
(a.k.a. Astarte). So one might say that a qedeshah's services were for a
worthy cause.

Gen 38:16-17 . . Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went
over to her by the roadside and said: Come now, let me sleep with you. And
what will you give me to sleep with you? she asked. I'll send you a young
goat from my flock; he said. Will you give me something as a pledge until
you send it? she asked.

The Hebrew word for "pledge" in that passage is 'arabown (ar-aw-bone')
which means property given as security-- viz: collateral --as in a pawn shop
or a bank loan. This is the very first place in the Bible where that word is
used. In the usury business, an 'arabown is forfeited if the borrower fails to
repay his loan; i.e. make good on his promise. This is a very important
element in the divine plan.

"In him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of
your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the
Holy Spirit of promise, who is the pledge of our inheritance until the
redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory." (Eph
1:13-14)

The Greek word for "pledge" in that passage is arrhabon (ar-hrab-ohn')
which means essentially the same as the Hebrew word 'arabown except that
the Greek word indicates a little something extra.

Real estate transactions usually involve a sum called the earnest money.
Although it may be applied towards the purchase price of property, earnest
money itself serves a specific purpose of its own in the real estate business.
In some quarters; this is also called good-faith money.

When the contract, and all the other necessary documents are submitted to
Escrow, the buyer is required to also submit a token amount of the purchase
price. It's usually a relatively small number of dollars compared to the full
price of the property. I think ours was just $1,000 back in 1988 on a
$74,000 home. When the buyer follows through on their intent to purchase
the property, the good-faith money (minus some Escrow fees of course)
goes towards the purchase.

However, if the buyer decides to renege, then they forfeit the good faith
money. No doubt that's done to discourage vacillating buyers from fiddling
around with other people's time and money.

So then, since God's Spirit is the earnest depicted in Eph 1:13-14; then,
according to the principles underlying the arrhabon, should God betray a
believer's trust by reneging on His promise to spare people who hear and
believe the gospel, then He forfeits; and the believer gets to keep the Spirit
regardless of their afterlife destiny.

But of course God won't renege because doing so would not only embarrass
Himself, but embarrass His son too as Jesus has given his word that
believers have nothing to fear.

"I assure you, those who heed my message, and believe in God who sent
me, have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they
have already passed from death into life." (John 5:24)

There are people who actually believe the Bible's God is capable of reneging
on His promises. A belief of that nature of course eo ipso insinuates that He
lacks integrity, i.e. the Bible's God isn't totally honest and can't be trusted to
make good on anything He says.

human
sensibilities are produced by a 3-pound lump of flabby organic tissue; and
not even all three of those pounds are devoted to cognitive processes. On
top of that, those three pounds are 60% fat. That fatty, flabby, organic
tissue can alter one's personality with little more than an aneurism or a blow
to the head.

Just how sensible can a fatty, flabby, organic sense really be compared to
the sense of a supernatural being with enough intelligence to invent, design,
and construct a fully functioning cosmos with all of its forms of life, matter,
and energy? A fatty, flabby, organic sense isn't even a dunce in comparison:
it's a sub dunce; if even that.
Shall the pot question the potter then??

John 3:16 . . For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life.

The love in that passage is conjugated from the Greek verb agapao, which
informs me that God experiences compassion for the world without
necessarily liking the world. This is somewhat similar to the sympathy that
many of us experience for a desperate stranger with a cardboard sign that
says "Lost job due to Covid 19 mandates."

Here's an hypothetical situation that breaks John 3:16 down to something
practical.

PREACHER: Did you know that the Bible says God loves you?

REACTION: God likes me?

PREACHER: Sorry, my bad. I should've been specific. I was asking if you
were aware that God pities you.

REACTION: Pities me?! What's to pity?

PREACHER: You are on a downhill slide to a future that's so disagreeable
Christ said you'd be better off losing a hand or an eye than to end up there.

People penned up in the fiery section of Hades may or may not be fully
aware of all they've lost. Many are doubtless aware of at least their loss of
immortality; but I'm not so sure they know about the bulk of their loss
because not even that many Christians are aware of all they've gained by
their association with Christ.

We today are living in what's sometimes called the church age; which is an
era that began with the day of Pentecost per Acts 2:1-2 wherein Christ has
been busy assembling the "my church" he spoke of in Matt 16:18.

The "my church" is very fortunate because it is a joint-heir (a.k.a. heir in
common) with God's son in his Father's estate. (Eph 1:11 and Rom 8:16 17)

A joint-heir is different than a regular heir. Regular heirs are apportioned an
individual percentage of their benefactor's estate. But joint-heirs inherit, not
a percentage, but the entire estate, as community property, i.e. whatever
the Father bequeathed His son, He bequeathed everyone associated with His
son.

For example: supposing a benefactor's estate totals 60 acres of land, 18
gold bars, plus a hedge fund worth 200,000 US Dollars; and he left it all to
six heirs in common. In that situation; the heirs are corporately one
beneficiary instead of six; viz: all six inherit all the land, all the gold, and the
entire fund as if each one were the only heir.

The extent of the Father's estate is astonishing. It encompasses not only all
that is in Heaven, but also whatever pertains to the new cosmos spoken of
in Isa 66:17, 2Pet 3:13, and Rev 21:1; and I don't know what else.

John 3:35 . .The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his
hand.

John 16:15 . . All things that the Father has are mine

Heb 2:5 . . It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come

It's a good thing that God's son has been appointed chief executive officer of
his Father's estate because I don't think anybody else among men could
ever be relied upon to manage it properly.

Point being: disbelievers in today's era who fail to be accepted into the "my
church" will end up as deprived paupers in the afterlife, whereas those
associated with God's son will be members of a powerful oligarchy-- wealthy
and privileged beyond imagination.

FAQ: The Bible says that a Christian's life on earth terminated the day they
came to faith in Christ; and from the day on, God stopped keeping a record
of their sins. (Rom 6:3-7, Col 3:3, and 2Cor 5:19). What about the afterlife?
What's to be done about the sins Christians commit there?

A: When Christians undergo the supernatural birth about which Christ spoke
at John 3:3-8, they are imperceptibly regenerated with a nature that not
only doesn't sin, but cannot sin.

"The one who practices sin is of the Devil; for the Devil has sinned from the
beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that he might destroy
the works of the Devil. No one who is born of God practices sin, because His
seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." (1John
3:7-9)

Two fathers are on view in that passage.

The first is the Devil; identified in the third chapter of the book of Genesis as
the Serpent (Rev 12:9). Human nature as we know it among ourselves, was
fathered by the Devil; which explains why humans are natural-born sinners.

The second father is God, identified in the first chapter of Genesis as the
supreme being responsible for creating the cosmos-- all its forms of life,
matter, and energy. The nature of God, as we know it, is 110% sinless.

Jas 1:13 . . God cannot be tempted with evil

Titus 1:2 . . God cannot lie

The human nature and the nature of God are not joined at the hip as an
amalgam of good and evil. God separates the two natures by means of a
rather unusual form of circumcision (Col 2:11) making it possible for
Christians to enter the afterlife as 100% righteous people.
