You dont need stats to prove the relationship is abusive.Common sense tells you that.Or do you make your significant other sign contracts to exercise and eat only certain foods? The horse will stay dead when people stop arguing the book is "liberating" to women. Its not.
Look Im not saying the book is liberating. I just said it did bring bdsm more into the public eye. I think thats a good thing. I honestly don't care about the rest of the book.

Hi
I was married for 26 years ( 1985 - 2011) and was widowed then.
I have never read 50 shades of grey. The Bible is my focus - Read Proverbs 31 - that's how a real woman should be.
best wishes

Ok well I'll give you that.It put it out there for sure. But certainly not in a good light.

Wow. Mods are you reading this at all?

There is nothing here that is offensive. If it bothers you so much why do you keep coming back? Seems you are trying to draw attention to yourself.Otherwise you'd say something worthwhile in the conversation.

(Christian Family Forums) - Is this really what Christian families talk about at the dinner table? Be honest now! ;)
These are definitely the things Id warn my children of. Sadly, these things exist in our world, and the world wants them so much that they will call you foolish, bigoted and cruel to say that we should run from such things and turn to God. Children will in fact be shown these things by the world, and even be lead to them without knowing it by evil in the heavenly realms. I do think it is entirely Christian to warn each other of these things, and not pretend they dont exist.

Okay...here's the deal with 50 Shades of Grey. I've read the series, btw.

1. It's a TERRIBLE book. I don't mean morally speaking. I mean it's terribly written, has little/no real character development, has little/no figurative language, etc. Basically it's an "episodic" novel. Also, the writer began the story as a fan-fiction response to Twilight...so there you go.
if it was "so terrible" why did you read the whole set.

I've read books that didn't interest me before, I stopped reading them about half way through, I didn't go read the entire trilogy

I don't really care if you read them but I don't believe you disliked them as much as you say you did.

Some people have to start something once they finish it. I remember being sick once and going through the stack of books at my parents house. Twilight was new, so I only knew it was about vampires, I was like ok vampires are cool. I then finished the whole series in a few days(being bedridden you would be surprised how much you can read). Not because I was thoroughly entertained but because I wanted to get the whole story.

Actually 50 shades is only in motel draws because it has a very high discardment rate - its garbage.
Whats going to be next? Pedophile love stories in comic books for kids?
Why not? You have childrens books promoting gay lifestyles such as "Daddys' new friend"
Question to ponder......Are these 'books' being translated into languages other than English?

your whining is starting to affect my walk. not only that but everytime you complain/comment you bring this thread back to the top of the page instead of letting it die, which seems at odds with your opinion.

Come on, there's no need to go down the paedophile route here.

Why does it always come up when anything sexuallt related is discussed? I find it rather worrying.

As for the film, its gonna be trash. Just like the book.

I see no link between homosexuality and paedophilia. Nor do I see a link between writing a trashy sex novel and paedophilia.

The fact that you put consentual sex and horrific abuse in the same box is quite alarming.

I pointed out there are people (whether they are actually gay or not? I dont know) who specifically aim books at children about sexual issues while the children have not yet anywhere near puberty. These books are written with the aim of being pushed into the school curiculum and the question has to be asked - For whose benefit?

What if in 10 years time 50 shades of grey makes it into the school literature list?
Again.....for whose benefit?

So many surprising books are making it into the school these days. Some have topics that are too adult for kids and we would never have dreamed of them being taught in schools when we were there.

I would not be surprised if some liberal wanted a book like this to be taught in a school somewhere. Things are going too far because we do nothing about it. Or can we?

More trash that is not good for our Christian walk?
For someone who noted their disapproval of this thread in the first page you sure have stayed around in it quite a bit. No ine is making you read anything. So stop reading if it bothers you that much.

You will have to do something about it because you dont have a choice.
The shark of satan swims in the lake of atheism, if you drain the lake the shark will die.
These people are targeting children, there is no obligation to show Christian forgiveness to people who clearly are not Christian and in fact are quite anti-Christian.
If we dont fight it then we are nothing more than a suicide cult.
The muzzies wont tolerate it, so why do we?
