I inherited that movie when my grandma died...still need to watch it!
It took me at least a couple years before I could watch Field of Dreams and The Book of Eli after my Dad died. That was the last movie we watched together. The first one reminds me of when I will see him again.

I know how you feel. I'm sure you miss her and it's tough to drum up certain memories.

PS:. In spite of language outburst by the villain half way through, The Book of Eli has the most edifying theme of any secular movie I have ever seen.
It is a lot like Soylent Green in that society collapsed and immoral people became cannibals as the Bible describes. It isn't glorified, by put in proper perspective.

Cannibalism has become a more prevalent theme in movies/series of late... .:censored:

I didn't know that. Are they glorifying the subject?
Dad would never let me watch any documentaries about that theme or mass murderers on TV. I guess that's why I never watched Hannibal Lecter or that series about that psycho that was apparently popular....
I couldn't remember the title of it, so I did a search and came up with one link titled "100 Best Cannibal Series"!
Good grief, I had no idea how popular it has become!

Does it seem like the movie/ TV industry is trying to influence acceptance of it?

I don't think acceptance is the word... but zombie themes are aligned with cannibalism also, and
they have gained in popularity, as well. Not a genre I care for at all... Many of them are also kind of
post-apocalyptic, with mankind having caused his own downfall and destruction, and in those where
natural resources were also destroyed, a main food source then becomes other human beings.
Those that have survived, at any rate. One of the Netflix docs I watched was detailing part of this
increase in cannibalism's lure, with sites on the dark web spanning a wide range of offerings.
I couldn't watch it past a certain point. Just too bloody sick, twisted, and gruesome.

Then there is always the revamped story of a teen sports team's plane crashing
in a remote mountainous area... Kind of like Lord of the Flies all over again. Ugh!

Even military and large police forces popularized zombie targets for a long time.
I haven't heard much about it lately, but it was a way to dehumanize people who were intended as the target groups. I don't blame each individual for this. However it was a form of psychological manipulation. How effective it was has yet to be seen.
