You're right, that was his choice. I just thought it was a curious one.... I don't like wine, but I don't mind if others do, I'm not going to provide any, but it's ok if you bring some, but I'm not going to tell you that before hand .... Just thought it was curious.

We’re hanging out with sinners everyday, we’re sinners ourselves and we all need Jesus.
You Sir, want to control and mock people who don’t think exactly like you do. I think your words remind me of the Pharisees.
You’re come across the kind of Christian that’s hiding instead of contributing in making the name of the Lord known where it is truly needed.
Shouldn’t you, rather than producing harsh words, be out there where people are, talking joyfully about the gospel, instead of trashing others?
I’m sure you know the letter of the law, but that alone doesn’t make you the judge of me.
I know I’m no better than you in my response to you, but I’m fully aware of the fact that I’m a sinner that need Jesus. I’m so glad I didn’t encounter you, or your sidekicks, when I really was down and out.
You miss the entire point of being a "Christian" in a world ruled by Satan …
you are supposed to be a light on a hill shining in the darkness so that others can see the light of the gospel

14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
1Peter 1:
and it is being separate from the world and not conforming to it that will draw those seeking the truth of God to the gospel.

By the way you did not acknowledge that lesbians cannot marry - this is an absurdity both morally and spiritually.
Do you understand what marriage is about and why God instituted it from the beginning?

Galatians 1:10
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

We must not be a people pleaser , we must shun evil , we are new creatures born again with the Holy Spirit in us ...
We must put God first before anything or anybody , and Jesus told us He came to separate people from each other , we must deny ourselves , pick up our cross daily and follow Him , not the ways of this wicked world...xox...

I have nothing more to add to this debate.

It is one thing to spend time amongst the "unsaved" or those who are not baptized Christians - like going to a football match,
or going out to a family social event, or being involved in a hobby club, etc etc
but a wedding - a marriage ceremony - is not just a social event.
Marriage is spiritual and God given right from the beginning.
People of all cultures and faiths do marry through numerous religious ceremonies because God started the ball rolling with our
ancestors.
Marriage of a man and a woman is still considered the highest best form of personal relationship - an ideal.
Same sex "marriage" is a corruption, a mockery, a sham, a deliberate profanity against God (and against religion).
It matters not what vows are exchanged between a same sex couple it is blasphemy.
And why would any righteous Christian want to partake of blasphemy and give it a stamp of acceptance.

Wisdom is required.

Actually, the "pill" does not stop conception, it prevents the zygote from implanting in the womb.

Sorry if this all got boring
Not boring at all my friend. I just asked a member to provide scripture to support his position that anal sex between a husband and a wife is a sin. All I got was a run-around. I can't see how a member can claim that a certain practice is sinful and yet cannot back it up with scripture or even attempt to do so. Other than that I have enjoyed the thread very much. It's been a slice. One other thing bothers me and that is stating that homosexual behavior is a sin but let all of the other sins get a free pass. I'm glad that you attended the nuptials. If I was in such a position I would have attended too.

Because legally now days God no longer needs to me mentioned and because of sepperation of church and state like in the USA. God has no part in the laws any more. Why do you think Gay is ok and evolution is required to be taught in many of our public schools and creation is illegal? Although many are under the delusion that the USA and our constitution are God given. I say not any more. The USA may very well be the great harlot of revelations. Even more corrupt than the Vatican in our lifetime. Abortion, Homosexuality, atheism, and Islam to mention a few things are protected by law but prayer in public schools is illegal. We have gone from a monotheistic nation to a polytheistic/ atheistic society where almost, anything goes. As long as it makes money.

Maybe you could talk to @dcontroversal about modern corruption here. He knows what I'm talking about. Christian groups that separate themselves from the general public are considered weirdos and or cults. There are gay churches and gay ministers here too. They are protected by the law and discrimination against homosexuals, is unconstitutional and punishable by law. There may be more Queers here than full gospel Christians.

My theory is that the father of the bride had already incurred a lot of expense so he made it BYOB. He could've simply prohibited alcohol consumption period but chose not to do so as a courtesy to those invited who were inclined to imbibe (hopefully moderately).

For my first wedding in 1978 (marriage lasted 6 1/2 years) my father-in-law provided everything including a champagne fountain. By the end of the reception I was quite wasted. I only regret one day of my first marriage and that was the day that I got married. No wonder I got plastered. The odd thing is that was the only day that I was drunk in the entire marriage.

I swore off alcohol for good in 1992. Now I still love alcohol but I simply chose not to drink. I didn't want to end up like my older brother who is an alcoholic and is still drinking all of these years later.

I think scripture makes it quite clear that it is sexual immorality.

And also Romans 1:26-27

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

If Christians won't get falsely accused as being unloving

If there are no slander for declining the offer

Would this still be an issue?

I wonder if it sound unloving to say

"I won't join your wedding, and if I have a wedding, don't join my wedding"

This still sounds like "hating each other"

Better question yet, what is the most loving way to decline the invitation

Or, to sound loving as well

Thank you!!

Sometimes and act is not named directly but it is certainly understood to be a sin, like pederasty as @Magenta confirmed.

The sphincter is an exit, not an entrance. It seem unnatural to me, but what two consenting people do in their in the bedroom is none of my business.

Amen. A non-Christian marriage is a viable and legal option in the USA, just like adultery and fornication and blasphemy and going straight to hell. It is NOT a viable option in the eyes of God. Christianity is not an alternative lifestyle. It is commanded and required of everyone by their Maker.
