To be fair in the old testament men could have as many wives as they wished. Monogamy is a much more recent social construct. I'm not condoning it, I assume its the inner primate in us all.

I am so sorry you have suffered so much let down in your life. Nobody wants to be cheated on and it sounds like you have had more than your fair share.

The answer is yes, there are men that don't cheat. My husband has never cheated on me, even when our marriage was at rock bottom. I am sure that you will find a lot of good men on this site that will also confirm that they have not cheated.

I agree that it is sad. I often feel like our society actually condones this behavior. Cheating seems to have become much more acceptable in the past several years. I have know several people who have cheated and been cheated on, I will never understand why people do it.

I will be praying for you. I hope that you will be able to find the peace that you need. God Bless.

Yes... there are those men who do not.

Being on the receiving end of a spouse who has cheated on you, is a horrible experience... to put it mildly. My heart breaks for those that have been through this, as well as for those that may in the future.

Do NOT give up. Do NOT give in. Do NOT allow Satan to win. Smile through the tears and kick him squarely in the groin. Then, while he writhes on the ground holding himself, show Satan that God's children carry a BIG stick. Be ready... because he WILL get back up, he WILL try again... and when he does, take that big stick... and smack the tar out of him again.

Have a blessed day,

(side note: You can clearly see in the OT anyone who is mentioned of having more than one wife had a miserable life...)

I think your answer: that it being the inner primate in us all, is a poor excuse... You can argue with that all you want; however, to try to appease the reality of lust and pride by saying its a natural instinct is incorrect...

Yes. But the flip side is it is often seen as more acceptable for women to cheat. A man cheats, he's a dog. A woman cheats, 'oh that poor thing her husband must treat her horribly'. Women cheating is much more common than you are realizing, so the issue of men cheating is about your perspective. In fact, i just saw a post with a link suggesting women actually cheat more. I don't know how valid that is, but its something to look into rather than basing the concept solely off of your limited circle of friends and family, in relation to the world outside of that that may have different realities.

I have to agree with you, Ugly. There is a double standard for men and women. It is not fair at all, cheating should never be condoned. It does not matter who is doing the cheating, it is wrong.

I also saw the link you are talking about and it did not surprise me. I don't know the validity of the link but, if I did a little research, I would not be surprised to find my conclusion was the same as the one given in the link.

Further side note, in the new testament, a man could not be in a position of leadership in the church if he practiced polygamy.

My bet is it's similar to the words Jesus spoke about divorce, it was never a good idea to begin with, but God allowed it because of the hardness of the human heart without the Holy Spirit.

Op, there are men who don't cheat, and there are women who don't cheat. Christians walking with Christ actively should be a pretty safe bet.

Abraham, Jacob, and David all had multiple wives. All are well-respected men.

Polygyny is actually required in some cases. The practice of the levir makes it an obligation for men whose brother has left a widow without heir to marry her.[Deut 25:5–10] No allowance is given for a man who already had a wife.

Solomon had quite a few and wrote some poetry about it.

It's the reason for it, rather than the ethical foundation to support or detract from the idea.

In the times where them men went off to war and died, it was actually quite practical to have every woman married to a man. Notice that sometimes the Israelites would pillage the women and kill the men of nearby cities as well.
This could make for multiple wives for everyone, simply from a mathematical perspective.

In the modern area, if each man has two wives, then half the men don't have any wife, and this is not a good system on a macro level.

Cheating is like lying!

The diference, in cheating, it is we have a fine bill to pay: Children who see their parents with people who are not those they have wished to hug or love (I came from "divorced" parents relationships).

There are men (and women) who utterly decided to stop their cheating (even the emotional cheating few people have eyes to see).

Just imagine how Mary Magdalene stopped her business.

She might have said several men: "I love you" (more than those) but Jesus came into HER life and many things changed... same for men (here and outside)

Infidelity, Cheating Wives - Women's Infidelity about the author. Men and woman are not being diligent in keeping their hearts in tune with God. The author of her new book reveals the very things that happen to unwary girls and woman. And I must say, she puts no blame on men. Men are guilty as well for being mr. Nice guy. Apparently, " nice " means ignorant. Once you justify yourself and vindicate your lust you have started a path leading to many years of sorrow. Let's pray for the opposite sex and not start fighting. Put off the old nature, which is full of lust. Put on Christ. Amen.

This was a new area in Jewish thought, with strong influences from the Assyrians and the Romans. With a government that did not allow them to pillage neighboring cities, there were less women to go around.

Thank you, brokenclay. I agree about praying for the opposite sex and not starting to fight. There is already too much fighting going on. We need to stay united in Christ.

God Bless.

Althought sin could be acknowledge whenever of those there failed. Our hearts need a bullet-proof-lust jacket.

Are there any women who dont cheat? See how it works.

I am male, I have never cheated. I would love to have a wife to love again but cheating men seem more appealing, I lost a couple of potential wives to men who "excited them" and were "more desirable", but within months they were broken and hated men as these "perfect gentlemen" were just out for one thing and knew how to get it.

Forgot to add, my ex wife had numerous affairs as she wanted a man who could give her a better lifestyle than I could, so used sex to try to hook a rich man, did it work. NO. They used her, threw her a couple of trinkets then left her when she wanted them to marry her. Most were married, so obviously they were just after sex.

Don't come to visit Venezuela. We have witnessed too many things in common but THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE GENDER, but the sin spoiling things.

There are godly men and women out there. It is hard to see them because godliness doesn't make headlines. There are many faithful husbands and wives. My grandparents on both sides of my family were/are faithful to each other. In this day and age, the only news that is shared is the bad news. Gossip is like oxygen to people. So, they won't tell you about happy marriages. Oh, no. Just the cheaters.

It is hard to be in your place, Jruiz. I can't even imagine it. :( But, as others have said, stay firm and believe. For me, cheating wasn't my 'fear' in regards to marriage...abuse was. God had to tell me, "Not all men hit." When He told me that, it was a shocking revelation. Others probably think, "Well, duh." but when one has something in their life that is negative and expected, when truth is spoken and breaks the lie, it is revolutionary.

So, I believe God wants me to say to you, Jruiz, "Not all men cheat." That is truth. :)
