The person who started this thread seems lost... and maybe angry or hurt. What saddens me more, though, is finding people professing to be Christians too berating him and saying words that may hurt him more and serve to push him farther from God. I am not perfect, and I had these questions too. Sometimes, doubt creeps in my unconscious mind. What I found to help bring me back are three things: prayer, God's Word, and the words and actions of the Christians I know. I hope that when Iknowthetruth finally reads this thread, he'll find proof that God is real, Jesus is not pointless, and being a Christian is a wonderful thing.

Kudos to xtinaz, dmdave17, and others like them for trying to understand the person.

Iknowthetruth: You are currently in a very dangerous position. It is where you think you are right, when you are actually very much misled. Please open your heart. Try to talk with the Lord. He's there. Read through the replies you have received in this post (the sane ones, at least :p) Will be praying for you...

I don't really think he's looking for answers or understanding whether it be him trying to be understood or him seeking understanding. He's looking for people saying he's right...even more so, he's looking for trouble whether he wants to admit it or not. Slowly read over it. Actually take in what the OP said.

With that being said...he probably is a hurting person. He needs prayer and Jesus...whether he thinks Jesus was or is pointless or not. Maybe pray that God will minister to his soul or send someone his way that will lead him to God.

So god purposly gives us free will, a burden he knows will condem us to a life of death and dissapointment. God knew from the beginning that we would fail his test of original sin. So even if we live as the best Christian we can, god has still hates us because he crushed us for no apparent reason or gain. Maybe god did it to show us his love through jesus and our struggles, but then it would have been for god's gain, not ours. God put you through your pains, he put you into your unsuccessful life of ignorance. Be thankul he made us? Why, so we can be tortured and tested instead of the love we were promised? God's test are unnecesary. Choose to stay unquestioning your faith? Well then dont you think its a little ironic your not supposed to "think about it to much"? Faith isn't a gift, its a tool to keep you from seeing how twisted what your obeying really is. Explain yourself.
Lets say for some reason all that you said is true?!!!!

HE OWNS ALL POWER!!!

so what are you going to do about it?

For those of you who think this is a troll: why don't you take your own adivice and ignore, rather than posting in the thread making a potentian debate worse? If you truely believe he is one, report the post, don't bite back.
The reason I posted that it was a troll was because some people on here don't seem to catch it right away, taking what's been said seriously, and rather than ignoring what's been said they give the troll exactly what it wants, an angry response and ruffled feathers.

It was not a bite back, it was a heads up to everyone to just ignore, report, and move on.

It seems to me the person who started this post just wanted to push our bottons and get a rise out of us.
Just a troll being a troll, one of these people who want to make random ridiculous claims in the hope people will be rude back and then he can moan about rude Christians. There used to be a one who did it all the time but I think he is now banned. He was rude back though.

Really? Are you serious? Your spiritual status says christian. It sounds like you view god as some dictator who enjoys watching us struggle and suffer. Without free will we would be subjects of communist dictator god. Adam and eve chose to go against god and sin. The curse is not gods fault but humans. God did not force obedience. Bad things that happen are a result of poor choices we make, not god causing it. Subjects of a dictator like hitler, serve in fear not love. By gods nature, he can not have sin in his presence. Sin became our nature. He sent jesus as a gift to restore our relationship with god. As far as testing goes, god does not cause it but may allow it. He is limited by his word and mostly by us. Often, if he intervened without us asking it would go against free will. He can't do that. If you never suffered anything and god allowed uou to experience nothing, you would be like a spoiled little rich kid that had everything handed to you. Which would destroy your appreciation for god and build expectation and anger if he quit providing. If you want a miracle or healing or provision, prayand receive it. He can't work in your life if you don't believe in what he offers. To many people blame god when its our own attitudes and disbelief and poor choices that bring us to the place we are in. There is righteous anger and unrighteous anger. Jesus had righteous anger when merchants were selling animals for their offering at the temple. And I believe I'm justly angry when I hear people bad mouthing god themselves and possibly putting a negative attitude towards god in the minds of others. Once you accept christ as your savior, then you have the privilage of calling yourself a christian. Then you obey out of love. This sellfish, view of god, blaming him for mankinds trouble and sin is not becoming of a christian and you need to seriously re evaluate where you stand in eternity if this is your view of god. Where is his love? Its all around you. I believe you attitude may have something to do with your blindness to it. I tell you this not in judgement but in the attempt to remove the scales from your eyes. You have a choice in this life. Choose life with god or death without god. God sends no one to hell. We choose for ourselfs. Good luck to you in your quest for god, you have some seeking to do before you find him I think.
Well said.

A free will doesn't condemn us to a life of disappointment. The Lord teaches how to be happy and secure.

We all were predestined to live for God without pain and suffering. We are also predestined to make heaven our home. Some will disagree but after I get through I think my point if valid. God created the garden of Eden. There were no pain, no sin. man/woman walked with God. It was the moment that Eve and Adam (I didn't say Eve only. Adam is as much as fault as Eve) chosed to listen to the serpant and take of the forbiden fruit, they chose to walk away from desteny. A curse was placed upon Adam (that he would have to work the ground) and Eve (She should have labor Pains). This choice was handed down from generation to generation. At that time man became accountable under the law. Jesus Christ came so we may have everlasting life. We choose every day and every second of everyday if we are going to accept Gods Gift of salvation which leads back to God. As far as the pain and suffering, we are human and we are going to have pain and trails. God will see if we are going to live for Him and worship Him or we are going to fall and follow Satan and his ways. How would it be if you are given the samething to eat everyday. You can't change the food. It will get boring. God Gave us free will because He wants us to choose to live for him and to accept him. Let me tell you, being a Christian, you never know where and when God is going to show up in your life. You see with free will says, i can get forgiveness of the sins in my life. You don't get forgiveness for being a drunk if you never drank. With free will, we have to work out our own salvation with God. Now, that don't mean being gay is not a sin. There are things that I am convected of (like drinking wine or cooking with wine). But God may not convect you of that. If their were no free will, we all would have the same convections. The bible does talk about drinking wine in moderation. God never intended us to be a puppet. Angels doesn't have free will. They obey every command of God. But, we read in the bible that one day, we will judge the angels. They will be given a free will and they will have to choose to serve God or not. I hope this helps you.

Whether he is honest or a troll the bible tells us to do the same: Speak the truth in love.

IKnowTheTruth: I have asked myself the very questions that you ask here during times in life when it all seems pointless.
The Jews at his time were expecting a mighty ruler to bring war, not a humble man from Nazareth. And they sure did not expect to see see him crucified, despite all the things the bible had said about it happening. (So: you are not the first person in history to doubt, far from it).

The problem is, faith is required for you to be saved, and beliving a Jesus lived does not help, you need the belive the Messiah lived, and that he died for your sins
Also, though quite frustrating: you need to repent: turn around 180 degrees from the wrongs you do (as we all do), and be a new creatue in Chriist

Yes God knew we would sin. - if you plan to have children in the future: do you think they will never break a rule?
As for God letting bad things happen: Assuming you do have rules: Will you lock your children in the house and pad everthing in it?
Jesus being pointless: If your children got into some big trouble, let's say they got charged with a death penalty, would you not, if possible, take the sentence on you? This is what Jesus did ...
Why judgement? yet if the children refused, because they would rather to back to doing what they had done before (and thus get a new sentence), you could not save them. Eventually, it is their choice, even thoiugh you could in theory keep them locked up
Your logic is flawed. You can't assume omnipotence and than later retract it. The question of God's omnipotence is a true dichotomy - either he dictates the system or he does not.

If I were a perfect painter, none of my paintings would have flaws. It would be impossible for me to make flawed paintings, as I would be perfect. If I were imperfect, my paintings would more than likely have flaws. If I were a perfect painter, yet flawed my paintings intentionally, it would be quite odd for me to judge them as being "bad", being that I intentionally made them that way. So logic dictates that there are three possibilities: 1) God is a perfect painter, and I am a perfect painting. 2) God is flawed, therefore I am flawed. 3) God is a perfect painter who made me flawed, so he could judge me for being how he/she/it made me.
