CCM is nothing more than a form of pop intended to have a 'more spiritual' sound, by sounding 'less worldly'. It's designed to appeal to the broadest audience. Since even in mainstream pop when solid musicianship appears it's often buried under the avalanche of mass appeal.
Michael Jackson is a great example. Though not a fan myself, with the internet more people have a broader understanding of musical prowess. More people are better musicians. And as a result more people are aware that buried under all that pop dribble are some truly talented musicians. But, still, most people won't know that, or care.

Modern Christianity is actually well represented by CCM. Shallow, trite, bland, uninspired, tame, safe. Is it really any surprise the music is a reflection of the attitude most prevalent in churches? Branching into the underground or genres outside of CCM is the best place to find more sincere music.

I am like you i never get existed by ""Christian music"" and i think i know why.. Christian music is focused on the message of the song not on the actual instrumental music that accompanies the lyrics..

So if your a person who gets more benefit from lyrics then you are more likely to get something out of Christian music .. But if your someone who loves the music more then the lyrics then the chances are low that you will like Christian music.. There does not seem to be many very creative musicians in christian music sadly..

My favorite ""religious"" music are actually not from recognized Christian groups.. I get the feeling that sometimes God uses non-Christian musicians to produce a song that can have a big Christian impact and the people who are producing that song have no idea that their music has another meaning..

This is exactly what I'm talking in about that is terrible. Over produced just the effects on his whisper voice singing is awful in itself. Then three chords. This is so formulated it gives me a head ache.

Most music in general sucks as well as Christian music. Why? A most profound question to be sure. I stopped following the latest music in the 80's.

With the exception of the first one, did you listen to the others? If so, there is something terribly wrong, those songs are absolutely beautiful and highly anointed. I would be interested in knowing what exactly you do like?

Romans 8:28 Baby! No better message than that!
