What if we just don't want the people with guns there?
myybe this is more direct,,at every crosswalk at every school(is a policeman),,at every schoolzone all of us drive thru,(is a policeman handing out tickets to those speeding),,,at Columbine there was a 25 year veteran officer(on duty, who confronted the gunman twice, without firing),,this is why i stated "WHO BELIEVE IN PROTECTING THE PEOPLE" in my statement,,,,that is the public agrees that we should have trained personell on hand at our schools(ALREADY),,,,"WE JUST CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DO NOT CONFRONT THE GUNMAN WHEN IN THE FACE OF DANGER",,,,

this is the 11th page on a "news forum",,and none of this went on on my watch(that is when i was a young man,I'm 79),,,but reading thru the post the women for the most part are saying they are going to "arm themselves and defend themselves",,,now if it was true that they believed they would be protected from these dangers by their "men",,then they would obviously not be seeking to defend themselves.

now the men say "well but if,,but" and so the wemon see the thinking of them,,they think "oh,(in shock)their not going to defend me,i need to defend myself",,,,"read their post, man up,cowboy up,,however it fits, defend your children and your women",,,i am an old man who will still defend their person,,,,,,,,,,,(AND THEIR IS ANOTHER THREAD ON THIS SAME SITE WHERE THEY ARE LAUGHING AT YOU SAYING "BATCHALOR #1,#2,#3,ECT,,FOR A GOOD REASON",,,,COWBOY-UP MAKE THEM FEEL SAFE,,,, or I'll roll up there in my wheel chair and do it,,,,,,,,

Well, as a fellow conservative and I were talking about gun control in the US, he said these words of wisdom to me: "it's our fault." I asked him what he meant and he said it was simple. The conservatives successfully voted out the Democrats in the South who supported guns, turning it into a party issue, since a lot of them in the North didn't have the outdoorsman background and were touting the control bandwagon.

Now, gun control is one of the issues a lot of democrats latch onto, just like abortion and gay marriage.

But that's not really here nor there. I know of no one who has a licence to carry who are actually excited to get into a fire fight. Most of the people I know who carry are (as you said) staunch conservatives, but have absolutely no desire to shoot any one. I've met one or two who are a bit chemically imbalanced who might want to prove something, but even then, they know it's deadly serious business pulling a gun. I think if you look at the figures from Texas, you might see the numbers of staunch CCW permit holders who actually use their guns is very low.
I'm conservative too and I don't know about anyone getting excited. Most have never used their firearms except for target practice or they're hunting for food. It's interesting how I keep hearing how we "cling to our guns" when a non conservative just mentioned owning 8 firearms. I own one and I'm now a bad person according to some.

I'm curious if we take 50 people who are against firearms and stand them up at the front door of all our schools and put one or two who believe in protecting the people behind them with guns how which of the two groups will, fair,,,which have the best results,,,at the next,,,
That would be illegal. No guns on the premises of a school or educational institution.

How about you ratchet it down.

You're proving the point the anti gun folks are trying to make - acting like the stereotypical gun owner itching for a fight. Not everyone stands up there with a megaphone yelling about how they carry a gun.

Then how about you say just that instead of wildly proclaiming that everyone else needs to cowboy up?

Seriously, when the topic is a sensitive one, how you deliver the message is as important as the message itself. You might just win someone over.

what will you have me do recite it,,,"you do not see not coming,as it is actually taking place all of the manly thoughts go out the window,i an instant tunnel vision takes over, and if you do not slip in the place where you wet,and move out of reach you will be ok,then the panic sets in and your trying to figure out how to use the gun you played with in front of the mirror,,and if you can remember it all faster than the one's trying to hurt your family,,well then your ok and then you cry,,,there's the whole story,,,,,,,

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war." --Ann Coulter, 9/14/2001

If you kill someone unlawfully with a gun, you are going to stand trial for murder, the same as if you'd killed them unlawfully with a knife or a brick. It isn't as if giving someone a right to carry a gun is going to excuse them from behaving responsibly, without consequences.

I'd be interested to see statistics on how many wrongful deaths or shootings have been committed by licensed gun owners.
I live in El Paso County Colorado (Colorado Springs) which was one of the first counties in the country where the Sheriff developed a "shall issue" policy for concealed carry permits. Most counties nationwide at that time (1995) required someone who was applying for a concealed carry permit to show need for concealed carry and frequently you had to "know someone" in order to be approved. Basically the "shall issue" policy says that an applicant WILL be approved as long as they meet the legal criteria (passed background check, etc). Since 1995 El Paso County has NEVER had a case of a person legally concealed carrying prosecuted for illegal use of said firearm.

PS. Colorado is still an open carry state. In other words you can legally walk the city streets with a loaded sidearm (as long as it is exposed) without a permit (although some municipalities prohibit it). Interestingly we have a low rate of firearms related crime (about half the national average per capita) and most of those crimes are in the "bad parts" of the major cities.

Once just gave another success story.

I suggest you look up the stats for Texas. Less than 1 percent of crimes in texas are committed by people with carry permits.
