I think I'm gonna vote for Clinton so Jesus comes back sooner. That will work right? Or Sanders...I can't decide.
You crack me up! ;)

I'm doing a "write-in" for Ben Carson.

Actually, I long ago forsake the idealistic notion that our votes REALLY get counted. The person elected is the person the money wants elected.
Speaking of which... will they count THIS election over seas ?

(why do we still have the electoral college?? )
The intent and purpose of the Electoral College serves the same purpose as the Senate within the Legislative branch, it helps to give smaller less populated states an equal footing. Each state has the same number of electors as it has members of congress and the senate combined thus smaller states get a little boost in their representation to keep larger states from forcing their will on smaller states.

Where things get a bit messed up is that each state determines how it's electoral votes are given, some are winner takes all, some are divvied up based on percentages of the vote.

In reality there have only been four Presidential elections where the electoral winner has not been the winner of the popular vote and only one of them has been in recent history.

In 2000 Gore won the popular vote, but Bush had the electoral win

In 1888 Harrison won over Cleveland but lost the popular vote

In 1876 Hayes won by one electoral vote, but lost by a large margin in the popular vote

In 1824 John Quincy Adams ascended to the Oval Office without winning the electoral or popular vote (the only time this has happened). A candidate must receive a majority of electoral votes to be declared the winner and in that cycle no candidate did (there were four on the ballot) and as dictated by the Constitution, the election was thus decided by Congress. This could potentially happen if a strong third party (or independent) candidate were to suddenly jump into this election cycle.

Is the electoral college where people go to learn how to vote?

I cast my vote for Kasich. Of course, he won't be the nominee but that is my first choice. It's gonna come down to either Trump or Hillary. Either way, it's bad.

you are very kind, and thank you!

i was forced to learn that when the kids took their high school course on The Constitution

sigh.... okay, i s'pose popular vote only would put our form of gov't more in the democracy category and less that of the constitutional republic?

the Framers were brilliant, but i think perhaps a teeensy bit snobbish.

What I wanna know is if they plan on making electoral college free. If it was free I'd definitely go.

Lol maybe Bernie Sanders.

On the real though you can become an electoral college delegate, it's actually not that hard. You just have to convince one of the major parties to endorse you, and then there's some special rules and wonk state by state, but other than that not too hard.

youre implying that I want to work. I don't want to work. I just want free stuff. I need a safety zone from you.

But there is still half the work. I want you to do it all for me. I've asked for a safety perimeter and you have violated it. I'm telling on you. Either to Hillary or Bernie but either way...you're in big trouble.
