Can a Trump supporter and an anti-Trump person be close friends? Say one is a big supporter of Trump, and another person is a big supporter of Bernie, AOC, BLM, etc., can they leave politics aside and be close friends? Also, let's assume both are Christians.
Political ideologies and associating with movements are actually much more than just a hat someone puts on and takes off. It's an identity and to Christians I think it should be a question of what association does light have with darkness?
I could be an acquaintance to someone walking in darkness for purposes of outreach, but not friendship. I don't think it's Biblical to be their friend because that assumes we are allies. I wouldn't defend their beliefs or actions. How could I be a friend to someone I wouldn't attempt to validate?
If the one who is a democrat and a BLM supporter is claiming to be a Christian, maybe get a sense of their stance on abortion and usage of terrorism for political purposes. If they are against both maybe friendship is possible. Just my take on it.
