I can agree with this as well. But what they said in their first statements doesn't line up with what the video shows. The FBI is involved with this case and I'm sure they are looking at the same evidence the LEO's in Rio are looking at. If the FBI saw anything that differed from what the RIO LEO's saw I'm sure they would have said something. I don't trust our government, but this is different than some tourists just visiting down there and acting out.
I don't think I will ever trust the FBI again after this Clinton debacle.

This is clearly an extortion case and should be investigated as such. The item they allegedly vandalized was not specified. How much damage could you really do just with your bare hands. If anything was vandalized it would most likely cost more than $50 to repair. No damage was visible on camera footage. Also I am told told Brazil has a reputation for a corrupt government and human rights violations. Our government should demand that the money be returned or we consider this an act of war and cut off all economic ties

Dude don't make me laugh, $11,000 dollars is chump change to the us govt, they couldn't give a crap about it.....plus those guys probably have million dollar endorsements from wheaties/nike it's like losing a $1 and having $999,999 still in the bank....no biggie..

act of war lol, been hanging around/listening to too many neo-cons like john mccain? im just playing bro, but this is seriously nothing to declare an act of war....what is brazil going to do? make higher prices for chiquita bananas? lol

if an American was found peeing on the wall of a Soviet gas station in the 80's, he'd deserve whatever he got.
Yuri would have been right next to him. then after they was done Yuri would offer some vodka.

Anyway Americans go to Brazil, act stupid, get smacked around. serves them right. they better be thankful Brazil just extorted them, some nations would have harsh penalties like 70 lashes or worse.

Yeah Michael Phelps is being taxed 55,000 grand alone for his gold medals. Olympic athletes make a bunch of money.

I think he has good reason to be skeptical in this case. I mean we're talking the Rio police department, not the Knox County Sheriff.
Exactly. In this scenario I'm going to go with person or persons who have the more credibility. An Olympic Athlete known for the strictest of discipline over the police department of a country known for corruption

Imagine if you were found peeing on a gas station wall in Red China back in 2012. Woah.

must be smoking something, I would never be in China.
Yeah, if a visitor isn't thrown in jail, they usually return home with a souvenir parasite that puts them in the hospital.

I would not trust anything coming out of that country...or even our leftist media who just loves the idea of making america look bad in some way.

Wow Dude, go to war over this incident! These clowns represent me and my country. I have no sympathy for them. As far as I am concerned, they got off easy. They should have spent a weekend in a Rio prison. I would also pull their passports. We have too many of these clowns representing us in other countries.

When you are a US citizen traveling in any country, you represent the people of the US and you also are obligated to observe the laws of the country that you are traveling in.
