As I previously mentioned there is a fine line between evangelizing and harassing..
Appropriate way to witness to someone....
Hello my name is Kevin, I would just like to tell you that God loves you and so do I and God wants to save you. God has so much better for you.
Inappropriate way to witness....
YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!!! GOD HATES FAGS!
I tend to agree with the sentiment here... it has been my experience, both in giving and receiving, that when someone is approached with an attitude of "let me tell you that you're going to HELL", there is little use for further conversation. The "listening" switch has been turned off.
I worked with a Jewish woman who was an avowed lesbian, and had been in a relationship with another woman for about 15 years. We had some good discussions about what God says about it, and about what other people say about it. Never once did I even hint that I thought she was going to hell. I told her that decision was not mine to make, but she should learn what God says about it. We discussed Christianity vs Judaism.... LOTS of good talks...
I don't know if it made a huge difference in her beliefs, but I am sure that I at least planted some seeds. I trust the Spirit to continue to work on her, hopefully along with other believers that won't immediately condemn her to hell.
Last I heard, she had broken up with her "partner", and was looking for a man for companionship (at least on FBook)..... who knows what will happen?
I firmly believe that if I had approached her with a condemning attitude, we wouldn't have had the second conversation...

15 [/SUP]Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. [SUP]
16 [/SUP]But do this in a gentle and respectful way.[SUP]
