Ok but theoretically isn't hell an empty threat to someone who doesn't believe? You may as well be threatening them with Harry Potter or something
It may seem "empty" to those who don't understand that the Holy Spirit of God bears witness with the truth of God to convict the world of sin ... and every person made by God knows deep down that they must answer for sin. The reason these folks are so desperate to have the world tell them its ok to be gay, is because deep in their own conscience they know its not. As someone who has actually led many sinners to Christ and trained others to do so ..."save some by fear" is as biblical and important as "God so loved the world"

As I previously mentioned there is a fine line between evangelizing and harassing..
Appropriate way to witness to someone....
Hello my name is Kevin, I would just like to tell you that God loves you and so do I and God wants to save you. God has so much better for you.
Inappropriate way to witness....
YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!!! GOD HATES FAGS!
Probably somewhere inbetween...

And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

They know deep down there is a judgement...hence feelings of guilt, lack of peace.

I don't like mayonnaise. It's my right to say I don't like it. It's not my right to stop someone else from eating it.
=====================================================

I don't like arsenic,...it's my right to say I don't like it. it's, my right, according to you, NOT to stop someone else
from eating it... somehow, in my relationship with my Heavenly Father, I just don't believe that He would
approve of this...

Problem is that most folks would knock back a gallon of it if you were saying it pedal to the metal style...like many good hearted Christians are whenever they are encountering sin.

Textbook straw man argument. Just saying.

I tend to agree with the sentiment here... it has been my experience, both in giving and receiving, that when someone is approached with an attitude of "let me tell you that you're going to HELL", there is little use for further conversation. The "listening" switch has been turned off.

I worked with a Jewish woman who was an avowed lesbian, and had been in a relationship with another woman for about 15 years. We had some good discussions about what God says about it, and about what other people say about it. Never once did I even hint that I thought she was going to hell. I told her that decision was not mine to make, but she should learn what God says about it. We discussed Christianity vs Judaism.... LOTS of good talks...

I don't know if it made a huge difference in her beliefs, but I am sure that I at least planted some seeds. I trust the Spirit to continue to work on her, hopefully along with other believers that won't immediately condemn her to hell.

Last I heard, she had broken up with her "partner", and was looking for a man for companionship (at least on FBook)..... who knows what will happen?

I firmly believe that if I had approached her with a condemning attitude, we wouldn't have had the second conversation...

[SUP]15 [/SUP]Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But do this in a gentle and respectful way.[SUP][c[/SUP]

You don't win souls to Christ by mans reason or logic ..The whole condemning attitude thing that has been brought up here is the true straw man, that is brought up every time a Christian on this forum takes a sound biblical position on this issue. I hope those who are trying to win others to Christ are allowing the Spirit of God to guy them in the attitude they have when they claim to represent the truth of God. The most effective Jail minister I have help train and equip for ministry (full of grace and love for others) was a man I looked right in the eyes (led by the Spirit of God) and warned him in clear terms about the reality of hell. ..He will tell you that is what it took for him to really think about his situation and the very event that caused him to turn to Christ. "save some by fear" means "save some by fear"

Persecution complex...
Another group of people being granted their civil rights is not a violation of your rights. You all are like a broken record with this condone sin thing. It's not my place to condone or condemn what someone else is doing .Is extremely narcissistic to think that your values and your beliefs should control someone else's life
So if granting a civil right to other s is what i get you support correct ? Then you are for trouples and quadruple in marriage ?
if two men can marry so can three right? right now polygamy is crime punishable by law surely you do not agree with that right?

When sexual lust and desires become classified as "civil rights" then the term civil rights has no true meaning. The folks that have fought for civil rights and suffered to gain equality should be offended but those moral folks have passed on to be with the Lord. These civil rights folks serve another master.

I agree with you. The point is how does one classify what is a sexual preference, when it is already decided by the law of nature? other than what is done against what nature intended it to be. The idea that one is in same way against the right of another because they want to interject their personal sexual preference into every area of society and deny those who have the RIGHT to be free from it too; has to cause a serious dilemma. NOT to mention civil rights had to do with people not a sexual preference this is a perverted and twisted interpretation of what is civl rights. Not to mention abandonment of reality.

Our Constitution was never intended to make sexual perversion a protected right. ..but it did intend to give the people the right to shape and form a moral and decent society. There is no protected right to be a sexual pervert in America. You do have the right to privacy . So keep your sick desires to yourself.

Ok, so we have bashed this out for quite some time on this forum. I think we need to separate how we would respond to homosexuals that aren't saved and ones who claim salvation and claim to be homosexuals and that feel it is ok to be one.

So hypothetical. New couple comes to church and they are definitely gay and holding hands and showing owtward love toward each other. How does the church handle this?

Next hypothetical. Individual has been in the church for years and claims to be a Christian. This individual comes out that he/she is gay and feels there is nothing wrong with it. He/she brings their gay significant other to church with them and are holding hands like the previous couple. How does the church handle this?

I believe the bible is pretty clear on the second hypothetical.

How do they handle people who are living together unmarried coming to church? I say let them keep coming as long as they don't cause conflict and keep hitting them with truth....that it's not okay.

According to the bible eventually they should be removed.

There is a verse in the bible that talks about it, just not remembering exactly. Think it is in 2 Timothy
