Stop using "lol" and just use the smiley face with the big mouth.

You mean like that?

Does that mean you're volunteering for a special force of only blonde cops? That would be discrimination against brunette, redheaded, grey-headed, and bald cops, wouldn't it?

Or does it mean you're volunteering to police the blondes? As I've gotten to know you, I think that is a highly necessary edition to our policing efforts, so go for it -- though being a blonde yourself may lead you to intentionally or unintentionally fail to do your job, so ...

... maybe not.

I almost went down that road. My police officer friends talked me out of it. It's very political and complaints against officers is a daily occurrence.

Police officers have a really hard job dealing with the public and not knowing when they leave for work if they will ever make it back home. They also deal with politics and the public making a complaint and most of the time they are twisted and make that officers life miserable.

I admire police officers because they are strong men and women that put up with way too much and put their life on the line every single day. I also admire the fact that they have to have control in situations that seem to be uncontrollable. I wrote a letter to a local State Police headquarters thanking them for all that they do and I support all the hard work and people they have to put up with. I never heard back, but in the letter I asked that they share it with the Department so they all know that each and every one of them is loved and appreciated for what they do. They are heroes on the home front, meanwhile our military are our heroes abroad.

I actually signed for criminal justice in college, thinking police work might be for me....After learning all I did, I don't know how they do it. I am sure they really appreciated that letter. Their bodies really take a lot.

They get to deal with the worst that society has to offer on a daily basis.

good cops are even harder to find than people willing to apply to be cops.

a lot of ex-military people with overly aggressive and domineering personalities wind up in the vocation.

one of my best friends down here since i've moved is a cop - and a believer - it's a constant struggle with him to love and forgive people, as every day he is taught again to see and expect the worst in them. i pray for him to balance this; plese pray too - his name is Lester.

I agree finding good cops are hard to come by. There was actually one near where I live that was doing his routine patrol and night and saw this car sitting at a park with the family inside and small children. This police officer took this family to a hotel and paid for a room out of his own pocket. My dad called the Department and urged them to reward this officer, because he truly genuinely cared for his job.

I too, took a criminal justice class at my college. The class was "Ethical Issues in Law Enforcement". It really caused me to have a deeper appreciation for the men and women of law enforcement. With this I served on a Mock Jury and it was loads of fun.

I took Criminal Justice Ethics, it was an interesting class. Court cases are intriguing, that would be fun being in a mock court case. One class I took required us to go to a court case, a group of us went to see a murder trial... it is fascinating seeing everything police have to go through. What led you to a criminal justice class?

Well, police officers have always fascinated me. When I first started college, my intended major was Business Administration and a lot of the classes I couldn't get into right away because of perquisites and so I thought this class would be interesting and I ended up learning a lot in the process.
