What's sad is how a man who contributed so much to science and individual perseverance can't be appreciated in his death. For someone so wise in the physical world, he did lack spiritual knowledge of our Saviour Jesus Christ. If that is justification for belittling, overlooking, joking, etc... Stephen Hawking, then you're ignoring teachings from the same book Stephen Hawking didn't believe in. Why not celebrate his life and accomplishments instead of "Oh, poor soul is burning in hell now!!"? We get it, some people think he's rotting in hell with Gandhi. Does it make their contribution to the world any less significant? Do I believe everything Hawking said? Absolutely not, but nevertheless, he had a gift from God when it came to understanding many of God's physical laws that I always admired. He was a personal hero of mine...

I'm not even an emotional person, but hearing of his death stung... Of course the uncertainty of his afterlife causes me more grief. Here is the thing we all need to remember though: WE ARE NOT GOD. WE ARE INCAPABLE OF JUDGING PERFECTLY. I get it... some of you feel SO convicted in your human understanding of God's word that you feel compelled and at liberty to doom someone to eternal hellfire. Cool, this is the internet, where we all feel like our opinions really matter and need to be heard. What I think is disgusting is when someone claims someone who disagrees with them goes against God and the bible, claiming to "only be going off what the bible says". IT'S YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE BIBLE... to someone else, they interpret it ENTIRELY differently. It's such a copout and a strawman argument to make that because someone disagrees with your interpretation of the bible, that the other person "throws it out" or "doesn't believe in the bible". Make all the claims about your super duper important beliefs and opinions... don't tell someone else that disagrees with you that they are an anti-christ, that they ignore parts of the bible, or any other personal judgement for disagreeing with your interpretation... you don't know the person's heart and even if you did, are incapable of judging perfectly like our Heavenly Father.

It seems many people on here crave or desire the power to cast someone to hell. I am UTTERLY THANKFUL to God that I am not assigned the responsibility to judge someone's eternity. I know I can't do it perfectly... nor do I WANT to do it. It takes a pretty mentally sick person to want this type of power knowing you're imperfect. God is perfect, our understanding of His teachings/doctrine is NOT.

Having said this, thank you Stephen Hawking for everything you've done for the world and for me personally. You're the reason why I chose one of my majors... In every video where God/creationism was brought up, you showed how to disagree with people (Christians) but do so civilly and respectfully saying why you disagree. You emulated Christlike behavior, yet you didn't even believe in Christ... and in that sense, I thank you for showing me how to act more Christlike.
Wow wow wow wow wow wow amen and amen. They do have the power to cast people in the damnation and they are using it. They could still be saved if they would only stop throwing themselves away. Rather than be on fire as you are, I say, Father give him the fire that. Urns ina and the reason to go with it. Yes God the Father fire that yEARNs to be IN Us. Abide in my brother as you abide in me. You indeed are an awesome God. I speak and you obey me as this am your slave when I am not even worthy of being your sheole dirt. Praise your name. When you receive this blessing remember to proclaim the name of the witnesses of God through whomever you received it.

You think God isn't omnipresent? You think he isn't omnipotent? You think he doesn't reach every single person he has chosen? You think it's up to us, because he can't? Do you even go with that IRL? If your god is so ineffective why aren't you busy telling everyone you meet about him just in case?

There is NO gray! God is sovereign, with or without us. Jesus promised, "All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out." You are obviously gray.

The Lord is not!

As for unjust punishment? You think way too little about your sin. God says all have sinned and fallen short. The just punishment is separation from God, death, and hell.

I HATE THE MEDIOCRE MODERN CHRSITIANESE FAKE GOSPEL!
It's good to know what you hate. As for me, I don't like people who choose to ignore what was said, and instead cherry pick/twist into what they want to believe. It's cool, though. It's pretty amusing coming from fellow Christians. By the way, the Bible doesn't say anything on how to change a tire on a car. Or perform open heart surgery. Or how to operate manufacturing equipment. Just saying. The Bible may be all truth, but not all truth is in the Bible. Which verse states 2 plus 2 equals 4? I'll wait.

Romans 1 is saying your wrong.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[g] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Your ranting has nothing to do with the post you quoted. I'll join you, though, so you won't be alone. Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth."

If I wanted to I can learn exactly how the sewer system works. I really just don't want to. Ew! Gross!

Under that concept, do you really want to have that one explained?

It does, however say, All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.

And it does, however, say God is righteous and just.

Three concepts you cherry-picked right out of the Bible to keep your greyness theory going.

Ah, that explains it. You don't even read what you wrote, so you have no idea if someone response if they're saying anything about what you're talking about.

Gotcha.

I'll do like kind and not read what you wrote.

Children are kidnapped everyday around the world. They are never found. They are brainwashed by their abductors. A lot of times, these children now turned teens/young adults end up being killed before ever being found. That's something even you can't dispute because sex trafficking is rampant in the U.S. alone. According to you, those young adults are thrown in hell because they never knew Christ. Even though they were abducted at a young age and had their entire lives literally changed for the worse up until they were killed. That's a grey area. Someone who can't grasp reality doesn't have the sense of right and wrong. It's called mentally ill for a reason. That's a grey area. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if you did try to dispute it.

You quoted part of Romans 1, saying God has made it known to everyone. A new baby just out of the womb has no idea of sin. Babies tragically die each day. Are they in hell if they die? If you say no, you're implying that's a grey area. That's something I've said from the very beginning.

Great minds think alike.
Conversations naturally progress and evolve, if one person brings up thier opinion on an issue, others will voice theirs as well.

Im not really sure why this is confusing for you.

I was listening to a radio talk show last night with a guest speaker who had co-written books with stephen hawking...

Apparently, Mr. Hawking did believe that there is a higher intelligence.... but didn't subscribe to any religion.

Now before anyone says Christianity is not a religion... remember that Judaism is a religion and Jesus was a rabbi..

She said they're not at the age of understanding. Nowhere is there a specific age, though. I believe the youngest age to ever be sentenced as an adult in the eyes of the court was 11. An 11 year old is still in elementary school. Heck, 17 year olds are still kids. A 17 year old has (or should have) more awareness than an 11 year old. An 11 year old obviously has more awareness than a toddler. But because no age is specifically stated in the Bible, no one knows for sure when the understanding concept begins. Obviously a baby is in Heaven because Jesus views children as the light of the world. The Bible tells us even to have childlike faith. But it doesn't say when that starts, and when that ends. That's when it becomes a grey area, and that's why it's dangerous to assume someone is in Heaven or hell.

He was an inspiration to me because even though he was disabled, he didn't let that stop him from doing what he wanted to do. His body was stricken but his mind was still so strong and held so much knowledge. I think that's very powerful and definitely says something.
For all his brilliance Hawking was an atheist. So all his *knowledge* was vain. The fool has said in his heart there is no God.
