Ok, this is simply a "rant"....

Anyone with any ideas that the media is unbiased toward the liberal agenda is simply living in dreamland.

I just took a morning break at work, where they had CNN on the tv, and got to watch a "news segment" that lasted at least 30 minutes, of nothing but Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton, giving a campaign speech.

This is "news", and NOT a political advertisement, of course.

Donald Trump gets perhaps 10-15 seconds, out of context, making him look as "buffoon-ish" as possible (not difficult, mind you)

The state of our "free press" is sickening.

Rant off.... I feel somewhat better....

I have to admit that Fox News was carrying the same speech when I left the house.

It's a waste of energy to watch cable news. What's sad around here is that every waiting room has a cable news channel running.

I was listening to CNN (or MSNBC) on SiriusXM the other day, and they were discussing whether Donald Trump should go play golf amidst a current crisis (can't recall what the event in question was).

Now when Obama plays golf..............mostly crickets, except from the more conservative areas of the media.

I'm still trying to figure out what crisis. I don't play golf, but if I were opening a golf course in Scotland, I'd be out there hitting, or at least swinging at a few balls.

On the other hand, I'd rather have Obama on the golf course than in his office reacting to non issues by writing executive orders.

I'm not a fan of Fox News anymore.... they were "ok"... not great, but ok, for a while, but I've lost confidence in them as well.

I'm not sure what to do about news anymore.... just sample a little of everything, expecting an extreme liberal bias.... or, just social media, Hollywood type drivel....

I imagine the "crisis" was the vote by the British populace to leave the EU....

Cable news was always horrid. I think part of the reason it seems more horrid now than it ever has is that we have more credible and honest News commentating online.

:) were they? what i've seen is the opposite of this:

Donald Trump gets perhaps 10-15 seconds, out of context, making him look as "buffoon-ish" as possible

you know, i don't mean to pick on FN in particular. they're all horrid.
i get up early and put one or another of them on, but find myself switching channels and then turning the tv off.

i prefer to play sermon mp3s and let my kids who read the news online tell me what's up.
(eye trouble) :)

Unbiased media and honest politicians are something that will never be found. Better luck finding a unicorn on a rainbow than finding unbiased media. They simply have no interest in allowing their audience to make their own mind up about the situation based solely on facts.

The founding Fathers knew the power of the media (even before the internet and satellites, imagine that) hence, the First Amendment...

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

...so hands off the media.

But who would have thunked the media would have been taken over by a totalitarian mindset to voluntarily relinquish it's freedoms back to the Government?
Sounds like some serious log rolling going on.

I rarely watch TV news. I did last October, on Election Day. I was most surprised to find CTV news, which is supposed to be slightly right wing, dancing around the studio with each new Liberal MP elected. And this, well before the polls had closed in BC, where I live.

The other strange thing was the extremely left wing, state sponsored CBC news just reported the new straight. No frolics of joy over the election of a totally unqualified PM, who is a Muslim.

I decided that day to stick with my on-line news. If something really big happens, I usually hear it on FB or here. And if not, who cares? I supposed I may turn on the TV on the day of the American election too. But I won't be turning on CTV news ever again.

Unbiased and media are mutually exclusive. News sources and truth also seem to fit that bill.

Fox network is so biased in favor of the right wing but its participants have been shown to routinely engage in sexual misconduct with Ailes, O'Reilly, and now this clown:

POLITICS[h=1]FOX “Family Values” News Correspondent Arrested For Rape, Sodomy[/h]

ByLou Colagiovanni
Posted on July 31, 2016

[FONT=&quot]
A Fox News alumnus has been arrested and charged with rape. Orlando Salinas, 57, wasarrested July 28 on two felony charges of rape and sodomy. The arrest of Salinas comes after a grand jury was convened in relation to an incident which is alleged to have transpired January 11, 2016. Due to the nature of the charge, the victim’s identity is not being revealed. However court documents do stipulate that the individual Salinas is accused of raping is not his wife.
The fall from public life for Salinas came in April 2015 when he was fired from local Virginia television station WDBJ7 after three years of employment for insubordination. Before working at WDBJ7 Salinas was Fox News correspondent for twelve years from 2000 – 2012 who was known for his combative interview style.
From Fox hosts Bill O’Reilly settling a sexual harrassment lawsuit, to Brian Kilmead joking that a woman who was beaten on an elevator “should have taken the stairs” and now with the recent departure of Fox CEO Roger Ailes over sexual harassment allegations over 25 women have come forward with awful decade’s long tales of mistreatment, it is clear Fox has long cultivated a culture of misogyny and male entitlement.

After Salinas left the news business he began a new career as a Remax real estate agent. In an Dec. 2015 “Whatever happened to?” interview, Salinas’ boss Amy Hudson said, “He’s a wonderful people person. People who know who he is really trust him.”
The judge who set Salinas’ bond did not agree with Hudson’s assessment of Salinas’ trustworthy nature, as he is being held at Montgomery County Jail without bond. Each charge levied against Salinas carries a minimum of five years and a maximum of life in prison. His next scheduled court date is Oct. 29.

Even Trump supporters wouldn't really want the news to be praising Trump to the degree of not giving the other sides point of view.

A. Don't do that anymore, unless you can afford buying the place a new TV when you smash that one in. (Or... is that just me?)

B. Although I completely agree with you that the press should be unbiased, that's not the history of the press. The first newspaper in America were formed specifically to drag hated politicians through the mud. They were completely biased all the way until after WWII. (I just checked, and that's not a typo. Honest! WWII!!!) We witnessed the day it went back to biased when we were young. (Remember being young? Many young'ns don't think we do, but we do. lol) Walter Cronkite took a vacation from reporting the news about Vietnam to give his opinion. And then gloves came off and it's been nothing but editorials ever since.

Well, except now they don't even bother editorializing locally anymore, unless you think things like which nail polish is best, what's the best nearby day spa, and important things people consider "good questions," like "Why do Philadelphians call that sandwich a hoagie?" But I keep hoping that's just locally. Then again, I also keep hoping that our choice between Hillary or The Donald is a nightmare I'll wake up from.
)

But think about it! We really lived in the only time in American history where news tried to be unbiased. And folks think the good ole days weren't good!

Rant for rant!

It could be worse. Around here waiting rooms have Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, judge shows, etc. And worse yet, the patients waiting are really into it. lol

Find news sites online that don't raise your blood pressure. (Good luck with that. lol)
