This is why I don't believe in being a "good Samaritan" anymore....

So that's why you do good things? To have it come back around?

Well look at this woman for example...nothing good came out of this except a bill....she may have felt joy at helping others but that was probably snuffed out by the evil these homeless people did by setting her up with a massive bill....

I don't do things to have it come back around, but the mentality of people nowadays is if you help them, they take full advantage of you and feel that you owe them something....so these people who help really aren't getting anything good in return be it "good feelings of helping people, appreciation from the less fortunate etc..." instead they are getting abused by these people in a sense. Yes we should help others no matter if they appreciate or not but I think these kind of people ruin it for the true ones who need help and further take the goodness out of genuine people like this lady who helped these punks....their acts will at least decrease/maybe even kill her goodness maybe temporarily but definitely it will be kept in the back of her mind now when she helps homeless people again....

Do you understand the statement, "You pack your own 'chute" ? It's worth Googling.

This is what has happened to our brother *Yet* and a few others on here. They have let the actions of others dictate how they conduct their lives.

I am not familiar with that phrase and after googling it there are several different "interpretations" and I wonder why the heck would you even put that on a Christian forum....you may want to choose a different phrase lol......

I don't let others dictate my life but I use life experiences to be more cautious the next time so that ones does not get burned over and over....insanity is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result....If I were in this woman's shoes I would be wary for at least a couple months of helping another homeless couple b/c of POTENTIAL for repeating the same thing these goons did....

My sense of the phrase is simply, "Your life is your choice", and as soon as the actions of others make you feel you have to change what you choose to do, then it is no longer really your choice.

Yeah but what if someone asks me for money, and I know for positive they'll use it to buy cigarettes, or drugs, then am I supposed to still give it, knowing I'm fueling (and funding) their habit(s)??
Lol one guy asked me for money to buy food years ago. I didn't have money, so I said: here, you can have my bread with peanutbutter.
He yelled, he got angry, guess he wasn't hungry.

The good Samaritan helped the poor victim, not the robbers.
Just ask God. He has given it on my heart to give to homeless or just temporarily broke women and they were so grateful, one hugged me. I had just prayed the Lord for someone I could give it to and then she asked me.
