austraila did a hard lockdown a few weeks ago. there have only been a few cases per day ( 15-30) for the whole country.
of course, they have been arresting people who speak out against the lockdown. the cops in victora violently broke up a outdoor protest. saw a video a few days ago where a lady was arrested for traveling outside the area that her travel permit allowed. ( travel permit, they can stick that somewhere not so nice).
so, covid down to nill via police state.
i'll take my freedom and take my chances with the overblown , overcounted virus.

The hospitals have been able to handle the rate of patients. If you are immune compromised or over 70 then that individual will have to consider their odds. If they feel to be at risk then they are free to take whatever precautions they feel necessary. And most people I know who have had covid, had mild to cold like symptoms. We do not make laws based on the exception but rather the rule.
If this was the only problem then most people didn't mind the extra precautions. But in America our governing officials decided to politicize covid. They decided to attack the church and out 1st Amendment. They decided to allow disorder in our streets. They allow casinos and air planes packed with people while churches have to meet outside and even then have had people fined or arrested.
Many people wear scarfs or neck guards around their nose and mouth and our officials say nothing.
If people can pack a plane, they can pack a church.
The hypocrisy and potential to lose God given rights is never worth the security promised by Big Government. Just do this and that and it will only be temporary. Lenin made the same promises but the freedoms never came back.

The ultra individualism of the USA is a problem.. and it is being harnessed by the right and left to create polarization and the undoing of that country, a country at war over masks is a sad statement.
In Japan people wear masks all the time out of respect when sick out of courtesy for their neighbor... baffling eh? country that makes no claim to a "christian" heritage.
They closed churches in 1918 as well.
They closed churches in Canada... as far as I can see those churches are open again.
Those packed planes are a problem.
South Korea had the virus under control and one mega church meeting started a second wave.
And mitigation was put in place before the hospitals reached capacity
Dispersion of the virus is a important variable which many overlook and perhaps some hard research into what happened in northern Italy would help

mitigation was put in place by many world leaders based on models from british epidemiologist neil ferguson, who predicted 2 million dead in america , 500,000 dead in 6 months ( from march).
he later admitted that those numbers were way off, so , if we lived in an honest world, the mitigation should be rolled back, as it was based on a scenario that was never going to happen.

We will be okay. It isn't a war over masks as already explained. It is the hypocrisy and government overreach. Most places and people were happy to comply with masks despite the hypocrisy. But 1918 isn't the same world as today. Churches are not just being forced to close but shut down, face fines, imprisonment, and some churches have been set on fire or had someone drive their car into the worship area.

As to why law cannot be made in less it goes through the people's elected officials. Governors, judges or presidents cannot make mandates that violate others rights under the Constitution.

the virus numbers are certainly overinflated here in the u.s.
for example , my state , ga, yesterday had about 750 positive test results ( 12,000 tests), but they reported 1500 to the media, they word it like " 750 confirmed cases with 1500 confirmed possible cases).
now, to me, while i see their point in that they are more cases , as not all who have the virus get tested, but that is dishonest...
