I agree Clinton was a failure. I agree that EVERY PRESIDENT we have ever had has failed to end illegal immigration. So, I don't understand why the failures of Clinton are necessary to publish? How about both of the Bush Presidents? Did they end illegal immigration? Nope, Nor did Reagan. He did deport some, but the flood across the border remained.

Why couldn't Trump simply say that his Administration was going to make every effort to drastically reduce the number of illegal immigrants crossing our borders, and every thing it could to secure our Southern Border? What is wrong with just telling the truth? Why make such statements that he KNOWS he can not accomplish, or promises he can't keep.

BTW, Clinton ain't President no more.............you guys are just like the liberals who keep blaming/dragging up Bush every time someone criticizes Obama. :)
You guys? Gosh, who are you lumping me in with? And why so disrespectful? I am not a guy and you know it. Wow you keep talking about the failures of past presidents but you complain when I make mention of what ONE past president said in light of the conversation, and how illegal immigration continues to add more than a million people to your country's population yearly? What you suggest Trump should have said is what Clinton said, but you bash me for pointing out what Clinton said.

Not lumping you in..........or, didn't intend to......still working on the "usual suspects."

Not complaining about Clinton comments, but he ain't the President anymore. Just saying. Not for nothing, but I would think folks should be comparing Trump to anyone OTHER THAN Clinton. :) Goodness, that guy was a disaster.

Not bashing you. Simply saying that Trump should have simply told the Truth. Clinton did not give the speech in Ohio, Trump did.

"In the budget I will present to you we will try to do more to speed the deportation of illegal aliens who are arrested for crimes, to better identify illegal aliens in the workplace, as recommended by the commission headed by former congresswoman Barbara Jordan. We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years and we must do more to stop it."

Yep, Bill Clinton got a standing ovation for that, one of many during his 1995 State of the Union Address. Twenty one years later, Donald Trump gets called a racist for wanting to secure the southern border, and is called on the carpet for wanting to do something to put an end to illegal immigration.

Compare Clinton's statement to this...........WE WILL END ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!

Which seems more likely? Regardless if they failed, did Clinton not offer a better proposal?

I simply do not understand why Trump feels he has to make these comments he does? What possible purpose do they serve? That is the point!

And, yes, Clinton is "so five minutes ago" as my grandson says. My concern is for the future and what Trump/his Administration will do. That is the relevant issue.

Well, you could say that someone can only work with a work visa or an American passport.

Anyone employing someone without those would be subject to draconian fines.

I would cut off the drugs trade at the head, but Duterte is doing a fine job of eradicating it on the streets.

The technology exists to watch borders....however long, and sea borders. That is all easily done by IT. It doesn't need much human surveillance.

Obviously there is a huge morass in the cities to clear up, but there's no point being defeatist. If necessary give anybody without a criminal record an amnesty. But it is a serious worldwide problem.

Probably the first thing to do is to stop doing evil things in foreign countries. If the US hadn't destroyed the Middle East, we would not have a migrant crisis in Europe in the first place.

I actually watched the entire speech because I wanted to see if he had changed his approach to things, and was seeking to be more "Presidential" as they say.

There were some good parts to it.........building the Military......cutting taxes........replacing Obamacare.......

and, there was one section, near the end, that seemed to be more tossing red meat the the angry masses than actual "goals." I am speaking of when he began to talk about illegal immigration near the end of the speech. He promised some things that I just do not believe he can ever deliver on............."build a GREAT WALL," and "END ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION." Seriously........he, with the approval of Congress could and may well build some more sections of wall along the Border, and possibly fencing as well...........but a GREAT WALL? What exactly is that?

And, to promise the American people that he was going to END illegal immigration is so disingenuous of him. There is no way anyone can END illegal immigration other than to open our Borders and declare all peoples welcome! It left me wondering if his supporters (who were cheering passionately) ACTUALLY BELIEVED he could do this? Or, were they just caught up in the "red meat" being fed them?

Then, he began to state how he was going to clean up the "inner cities." Put an end to the gang violence, drugs and such, and make our inner cities safe for people to live in. Do his supporters actually believe he will do this?

So, the question I want to ask is: As a Trump supporter, will you EXPECT him to keep these promises, or was he just blowing smoke, and you don't care if he keeps them or not?

Anyway, he did well at what he does, and that is to fire up his supporters. However, it is funny to see him start his speech calling for "unity," and "healing," and then go into a lengthy rant belittling pretty much anyone and everyone on the left. Supporter or not, that is funny.
I find Trump about as funny as Pennywise the Clown in Stephen Kings IT

Simple. It is IMPOSSIBLE TO END illegal immigration. Other than to open our borders, recend ALL Immigration Laws, and welcome everyone to enter. As it is an impossible task to accomplish, and promise to keep, such a statement can only be intended to fire up the base.

Trump spent his entire campaign fanning the flames of the anger and hate of many of his followers, and illegal immigration was one of the issues he habitually used to do this. If anyone denies this, there is not one ounce of truth in them.

You are surely not aware of the numerous posts where I have railed against the liberals for their failure of minorities and the poor in this Country. I have always held that the liberals have enslaved the minorities (especially in the inner cities) through the use of Social Hand Outs, reducing them to Political and Economic slaves. And, apparently you (and others) simply can not understand or accept the point of my statement. Trump promised to do this, even though he and the world KNOWS he, nor anyone else CAN do it. Point being, why is in necessary to publicly make such statements, rather than just telling the truth? All he had to say is that his Administration intended to do all they could to help those in the inner cities to be free of the gang crime and drugs that infest the inner cities. Promising to END those problems sets a standard that he can never meet.

Can't help but notice that the usual suspects here could NOT BRING themselves to acknowledge my compliment Trump on a lot of his speech. Just can't bring yourselves to lay aside the "hate" can you? As well, not a one of you answered my questions. Hmm.............

You guys are a One Trick Pony, attack, demean, degrade, dismiss any and all who do not bow down and worship at the feet of Trump. How is offering a review of his speech putting him down? How is complementing his comments on the Military, Obamacare, and Taxes putting him down?

I truly wish you guys could find one ounce of truth, honesty, and integrity within yourselves, truly I do.

Simple. It is IMPOSSIBLE TO END illegal immigration.
Well we may as just never even attempt to work on the problem, then : p

Trump spent his entire campaign fanning the flames of the anger and hate of many of his followers, and illegal immigration was one of the issues he habitually used to do this. If anyone denies this, there is not one ounce of truth in them.
Oh for petes sakes, this is the thing that drives me crazy about people who oppose Trump. Complete and utter baseless accusations of hatred and rage. If a democrat talked about cracking down on immigration, thats great, theyre taking care of the country. But if Trump does it, its fuled by racism and hatred and violence.

Geesh dude, actually form a real argument and stop it with this "everyone who disagreed with me must be filled with hate" thing. If youre gonna use this argument with me, at least actually give me proof that wanting to work on the illegal immigration problem is somehow actually so hateful, besides the "JUST LOOK AT HIS SUPPORTERS!!" argument, as if being excited about a new leader who has a different plan than the last one is somehow a sign of "extreme aggression" : p

Trump promised to do this, even though he and the world KNOWS he, nor anyone else CAN do it.
You mean Trump made a promise that might not actually go through?! D :
Its in no way exclusive to Trump to exaggerate what you plan to do as president to get elected : p That certainly doesnt prove hes a monster, it just shows that hes excited and has a plan he wants to accomplish, or that hes just saying whatever he thinks people want to hear.
Either way, hes a politician, not much different from any other politician : p

Promising to END those problems sets a standard that he can never meet.
Pffft, at least hes showing some enthusaism for wanting to actually work on the problem.
Why on earth would you shame him over wanting to help with the problem with inner cities? I think it should be OBVIOUS that there will always be problems, and that anyone who takes this statement and uses it against him should be seen as people grasping for anything to put down the guy they dont like.

I can seem him making progress in this area, but still having his opponenets stand and say "HE DIDNT FIX EVERYTHING, THERE ARE STILL PROBLEMS THAT NEED WORK! TRUMP LIED!" : p

Can't help but notice that the usual suspects here could NOT BRING themselves to acknowledge my compliment Trump on a lot of his speech. Just can't bring yourselves to lay aside the "hate" can you? As well, not a one of you answered my questions. Hmm.............
Yeah, throwing around random and baseless accusations will usually make people pretty upset : p
If you werent so filled with hatred for those who dont believe in the democratic party, youd see that : p

You guys are a One Trick Pony, attack, demean, degrade, dismiss any and all who do not bow down and worship at the feet of Trump. How is offering a review of his speech putting him down? How is complementing his comments on the Military, Obamacare, and Taxes putting him down?
Hahaha, well its a good thing you dont come in here with the same baseless accusations of hatred and rage, yeah : p
*phew!* : p
I truly wish you guys could find one ounce of truth, honesty, and integrity within yourselves, truly I do.

The Trump opposers are so extremely bitter, geeeesh : p I mean yeah I did not like Hilary, but even still I cant imagine myself actually coming here just to shame those who voted for her everyday : p

I like how they try to make it a moral issue, as if the opposition was on the right side of morality : p At the very least, I can think of things I really dont like about Hilary Clinton and dont have to jump to just accusing all of her supports of hate and racism and bigotry, ect.
I mean, her telling an LBGT gathering that Trump supporters are deplorable, who do you think she was really talking about?

So, in your description, which part of it is GREAT? And are you actually naive enough to not understand that there are sections of our Southern Border where a wall (great or small) can not be built?
It will be GREAT when illegal immigration rates decline.
There are lots of areas on the southern border where a wall is not needed. Mountainous areas, wide rivers, ...
Naive? Yes, hopefully childlike.

Interesting comment........especially from you. Speaking of things that shouldn't come out of an adult's mouth.......

There isn't one part of my post that could be described as "sniveling" except by the Trumpsters here. I honestly though YOU were above such a comment as this. I honestly thought you could at least recognize the pandering language in his speech, and be honest enough to admit that it WAS PANDERING. Guess I was wrong too........huh?

I did not say a word about him not walking on water, or any such. Can any of you display ONE OUNCE of truth? Or all of you so blinded by your hate and anger that truth is beyond your grasp?

No acknowledgement that I complemented him. None whatsoever. But then, hard to "hate" on me for complimenting him isn't it? And neither you, or any of the others, answered my questions. Just pouring out the hate and anger which is the way of things with the Trumpsters here. Goodness.

The hatred among you guys runs so deep that I don't see how it will ever end. The complete lack of truth with which you guys respond to a simple review of a speech clearly reveals this.
Get over yourself; no one hates you. Man, you criticized Willie and me for our posts regarding your baby attitude then you partake in even more of what we're talking about. And since you're the one with the derogatory name calling, I'd say you are the hateful one.

Hey look, I sure understand why people are sore about the election! besides this really being a supernatural win for Trump, when mostly everyone except myself and perhaps a few others picked Trump to actually win,the reason Hillary lost was a combination of things.

1. The leaks from her emails did not help. 2. She never appealed to white working voters, for a number of reasons, all of which you all know! I mean her telling the truth was sure not a strong suite for her! But the main reason to me she lost is when she called voters who would vote for Trump deplorable, this hurt her most of all, because she angered the Trump loyalist, and those who were on the fence were considered to be the same!

She said she was sorry, but it was way to late for sorry, because the voter saw her stance upon the Rep party to which she was to bring unity to? Most people were very mad to start with! White voters who seldom vote, came out in a great multitude because of her big fat mouth!

She can blame everyone else, but the truth of her loss lies with her own words! When a doctor made a racist remake about Mrs. Obama he was fired, I understand that!! So when someone is running for President of the, ah UNITED States, key word on United, saying voters can be deplorable is placing one on a fast track to become fired before you even get the job!

Which is why she became such a mute point to the entire south, and even in my state of Michigan! She forgot something Jesus taught all people!! Whether you believe in Jesus or not! The one character we all have in common is that we all have a need to become needed! She chose to believe that some were not,and that was her last mistake!

If the current federal immigration laws are enforced by all federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, our illegal immigration problems would disappear. Unfortunately, the funds necessary to accomplish proper enforcement, have not been appropriated, and I doubt that they will ever be adequately funded.

President Trump's first executive order should be to cut off all possible federal funds to any federal, state, or local agency that refuses to enforce federal immigration law. Congress should act immediately to make that order law and apply it to all federal funds.
