I have some catching up to do.
Gracie's questions:
1. Which movie deserves a sequel?
Bambi Meets Godzilla
2. What toy would you like to throw repeatedly at a brick wall?
Uh...a tennis ball!
*thinks about making a comment about Gracie and tennis, saves it for the chatroom*
3. What is one thing you always wanted as a kid, but never got?
Jennifer Galetti. *sigh*
4. Where do you not mind waiting?
On Grace-Like-Rain's lap. *grin*
5. What is your most impressive car repair skill?
I cracked open the door of Shourmobile v.1 and repaired the hand crank for the window. I can do most basic maintenance; I just don't have jackstands to do my own oil changes or brake jobs. You're not getting under a Miata without jackstands or a pit.
Monicat's questions:
1. what's your favorite fruit?
As much as I love cherries...when it comes down to it, I could eat khao niao mamuang for the rest of my life and be happy. Cold slices of ripe mango with warm sticky rice bathed in coconut milk. Truly decadent.
2. how do you feel about adrenaline-inducing activities?
Well, different things get different people's blood flowing in different ways. I like adrenaline. Love me a rollercoaster.
3. describe a favorite sentimental possession.
My best friend and I used to work as proctors (tech help) for our university's computer labs. There were labs all over campus, and labs that weren't housed in the lab buildings were remote labs; if you had to proctor those labs, you had to go to the main building, get the key to the remote lab, and then unlock the lab yourself. You were also responsible for securing the lab and getting the key back to the main building. My best friend lost the key to one of the remote labs; he got in a great deal of trouble for it, but in the end, no harm done. As he moved out of my apartment and I got a new roommate, we found the key. We kept it hung on the wall as a joke. I kept it even after I left Las Cruces, and he passed in 2009. I still have the key which caused him so much grief (and eventually became our joke) in my possession to this day.
4. describe what you'd consider a "near perfect day" spent with someone else, such as a friend or significant other.
1st breakfast; read the Word together, pray; play some duets; 2nd breakfast; minor chores; goof off a little; 1st lunch; spirited drive on a mountain/coastal/forest road or race karts; plinking; 2nd lunch/PreWOSnack; round or two of League of Legends; lift; PostWOSnack/1st dinner; shower, refresh; cook supper or go out to supper; sit on out couch and veg a little and/or chat on CC.
5. in school, who was your favorite teacher and what did they teach? why were they your favorite?
No surprise that it was my high school band director? I always loved music, no question. But he set high standards and worked hard to get us there. He could be incredibly mean and demanding, but most of the time, he was funny and encouraging. He was only really tough on us if we didn't do our jobs. I take after him quite a bit in my own teaching style, although probably not intentionally.
Hoss' questions:
1. If you could be any comic strip character (not superhero, sorry Jonathan) which would you be, and why?
Hobbes. Smock smock smock!
2. What is the best dish you know how to cook/bake?
Wow, that's a tough one. Most people would probably say guay diao, a Thai noodle dish that's similar to the Vietnamese pho. On the other hand, I make some mean pork chops.
3. What was your favorite childhood book?
Two way tie, between The Trumpet of the Swan and How to Eat Fried Worms.
4. What was the last concert you attended?
Saw the Mad Caddies with a friend a couple of months ago. She scored a couple of tickets, and her friend bailed on her, so I went with.
5. If the Lord called you into the mission field, what type of work would you ideally like to do?
I've never felt strong compelled to serve in any field other than music, but I don't see that being a priority in most missionary situations. Given my experience, I'd like be a teacher.
TORE's questions:
1. At what age did you leave home & venture off on your own and/or what were the reason(s) you did?
Two days before my 18th birthday, for preseason band camp (save the jokes, because I've totally never heard them before). I left for college.
2. Other than the Bible what is the most thought provoking and/or inspiring book you've ever read?
The philisophical musings of Robert Fulghum have always stuck with me. He rides a nice balance between thoughfulness, pragmatism, and humour.
3. What is the one thing in your life that you have/own/love that would be the most difficult to get rid of if God told you he wanted you to?
My musicianship.
4. What is/was the worst job you've ever worked at,or position you've held & how long did you work there?
I worked as a fry cook at a KFC the summer before I left for college. It wasn't a terrible job, it was just the worst of the jobs that I'd had. I worked hard, had good company, and enjoyed it.
5. If you were training for a fight, who would you rather have train you or in your corner to mentor you,and why?
All Mickey did was yell things like, "You're gonna eat lightning, and crap thunder!" and "Women weaken legs!" From the looks of Rocky's training montage, it didn't look like Micky did much of anything. I'm more likely to hire Bill Conti's choir from Gonna Fly Now than Mick.
I don't have any natural strengths in manipulating the Force...unless the force is charming the ladies (*points at Wandering_Here, winks*). So I'm pretty sure Yoda would be done with me before he starts.
That leaves Miyagi-san. Dude served in WWII while his wife was in an internment camp. When asked what belt he had, his response was, "Canvas, you like? JCPenney, $3.98!" The best way to block a punch according to him? "Not be there." When a man, who's sole purpose in life at that moment was to kill him, lays trapped in a collapsed building, Miyagi rescues him. Every lesson he gives Daniel in karate is never about combat, it's about life.
Is it even a contest?
