I live alone and have for a while now. I thought it was great because I am one of those people who like my space, don't like noise and too much movements in my house.

But, many times I yearn for someone to talk to just for the sake of chattering and laughing and someone to eat my meals because I love to cook a lot.

I hardly get sick beyond a troubled tummy which is rare or a headache when I am exhausted. I just make a cup of hot cocoa, get under the blankets and watch TV whenever I feel sick.

I saw the title, but read "Alcool! How do you cope with being sick?"

Alcool is the French for alcohol, so my brain did the lateral dance. No, I don't use alcohol as medication.

A couple of years back, I woke up with terrible pain in my lower abdomen. It was intense enough that I was nauseated, but when I got up to deal with it, all I could do was lie on the floor with the back of my neck against the cool base of the toilet. About ten minutes later, the pain abated and I returned to bed. Subsequent medical testing revealed no particular cause.

It did raise this question for me though... what if I had a stroke, or a heart attack, or serious injury which prevented calling for help? Well, as I live alone, I'd probably expire, and I'd be with Jesus. So what was the concern? ;)

I guess my absence from work would be noticed eventually, or my neighbours would come check on me. I usually carry my phone, especially when I'm using power tools. I'm reminded of a local farmer who left his phone in his tractor and got his hand stuck in a farm implement, miles from home. He survived, and I won't share the details as to how....
