It's because they're going through something they can't relate to, so they don't take the time to consider their words. I know most of the time they're trying to be helpful, but they need to get their theology right, otherwise what they say will do more harm than good.

If only it were that simple. Seriously, artificial insemination is now easier than finding a mate. There are single women who are tired of waiting to conceive the traditional way, so they experience pregnancy with donated eggs and sperm.

I've already tried online dating and half the guys who looked at me were old enough to be my dad.

I also discussed this in another thread. If churches are going to be preaching things like abstinence and what not, then they need to help them get together. Indian christians are miles ahead of us on this, as are Jews. It would be like if churches constantly chanted "pro-life" then did little to nothing to help pregnant women in difficult circumstances.

Easy for you to say. My sister married at 21 and my sister-in-law married at 25.

The other problem is that guys are not encouraged to marry as much as women are. Not only are they more allowed to be perpetual adolescents, but there are more Christian women than men.

Some are 40 and older the first time they marry.

Like I said, men are half the population, not hard to find.

Unmarried, childless men are 57 percent less likely to attend church weekly than married men with children. Your average unchurched person is a thirty-to-forty-something year old single man. Single women attend church eight percent more than single men.

It's more like men feel discouraged from marrying.

I got my own sad story about marriage that happens more often these days and it seems that men get the short end in the deal. Why would a guy want to get married? The deck is stacked against him.

Is marrying a race? We all get to the finish line married or not. What's the rush? Worried about what people say? You want to have kids and afraid you run out of time? You can adopt. There are so many unwanted children out there.

Adoption costs money. A LOT of money and a LOT of work. It's not as easy as Angelina Jolie and Madonna make it out to be. Hundreds if not millions of requests for adoption will go unanswered. For one thing, you have to have a certain amount of money to bribe the country to give you the kid. I personally don't want to have kids, but even if I did, I wouldn't deprive that child of the father they need in addition to the mother.

1. So the only relevant statistic you came up with was an 8% difference?

Ok, that's statistically significant, but it's not an enormous number.


2. Could you tell me where you got those statistics, and which denominations those numbers represent?

Well when my wife gets to walk away with both my children, take half of everything I have and will earn, may move my kids into another man's adulterous home, and there is nothing I can legally do to stop it, I say that at least this man is getting the short end. I'm not the only one.

Look it up. 2/3 of divorce is initiated by women, and Christians are divorcing at a slightly higher rate then the secular population.

Considering that we live in a country of hundreds of millions of people, eight percent is still a big number.

They don't represent any specific denomination. I got those from a Religion and Ethics Newsweekly called "Religion, Family and the General Social Survey."

I believe it. I see a lot more women in church than men.
