Because they are somewhere else (in their mind), and not realizing there are others around? 
But it was an old lady so I guess I shouldn't get upset but it was one of these HUGE suvs with a big door and it probably would've left a dent if it didn't hit the mirror. Little dents like that cost around $200 to fix.
I'm the same way but I used to be almost addicted to exercise. What kept me going was learning about fitness and nutrition and wanting to look good and believed I was actually sculpting my body like an artist sculpts a statue... slowly but surely. Also, looking at pictures in bodybuilding magazines and reading the articles was very motivating. Now there's youtube and there are a lot of fitness motivation videos on there.

For a little while there I was kinda not into piano anymore, despite actually taking classes for it back in high school : p I have recently found some piano songs I love though, and have again fallen for the instrument once more : p
And I have asked for one of several things, some of them being-
An acoustic bass guitar with piccolo strings
A Sega Dreamcast (have always wanted one but never had one)
The entire Hey, Arnold! series on dvd (believe it or not I do not own it : p)
Dark Cloud 1 and 2 for PS2, have wanted to try them for years now
Am hoping to get one of these things : p
