I find gum snapping and loud gum chewing very annoying also. It's the noise not the person, the noise. Please stop chewing cud and just chew the gum.

We should have a "baby talk" night in chat sometime just to annoy everyone and see what happens :D
So that's why people in chat threaten to kill themselves...

I think it's different when you're talking to a baby, or even an animal. I don't mind that, I will talk to high pitched when I play with a baby. Not the whole time, but when I want to make them laugh.

I'm not a big fan when I hear a woman say in a goofy voice, that's so yummy, tee hee. Not that I'd hate the person or anything, it's like nails on a chalk board type reaction.
The first time I heard yummy was this pretty girl I worked with..
she had a low voice and a guy walked in and she says almost in a whisper.. "yummy".. it wasn't a high pitched giggle type yummy, it was a "he is hot" yummy... I laughed cause I never heard a guy referred to as yummy before..
She said alot of different slang things I thought were funny..

He giggles when I do it..but when he wants to "talk" to me..you klnow when they make noises trying to emulate talking.. thats when I talk in a normal tone to him :) kind of like we are having a conversation I'll say in a normal tone" you know, you are right.. tell me about it" etc...
he just coos and makes sounds it's adorable (I know off topic :) lol

Baby talk. People for whom "yummy" can apply to anything from a casserole to a "cute" new guy they just met. If a guy is "cute", he's jail bait in my book. Or those annoying fake squeaky baby sounding voices. *shiver*

I have friends who do this. Women my age. Some even older. Seriously. I don't get it.

Is it just me? Does it annoy anyone else? Why do they do this?

Do men find this attractive at all? Are there men who do this?

Please wait for the poll. :) It's anonymous, so own up.
...but pookie-bear, how will I show or overcome my insecurities without verbally expressing my affections for you?! Snookums...common now...you know how it is baby, not being shady, just call me maybe...okay sweetheart? Love ya tears, bye! ^_~ In case you didn't know, all these sentences were quotes from things formed into an original statement...hmm, there's a thought...anyway...

Aww...much lol!! I always get great reactions when I sing this one. Anyway, no, I don't really do it (though I obviously make fun of it...in good humor...). There was once a time where I had a girlfriend who liked being called 'Poppy' (her favorite flower and some symbolism she explained), so I did. Otherwise, no, I've never really been into pet names or baby talk.

I'm not so amazed this thread is up still. But rather amazed it has stayed on topic this long. I have yet to figure out the reason that this conversation is lasting this long. Maybe that's just me.

Babies actually respond much better to a more animated voice, which is why people speak to babies differently. I'm guilty of occasionally asking my dog, "Who's a cute puppy?". I admit it! I can't imagine speaking that way to another adult though.
