Sounds good Ritter, except that I don't smoke...so I'll pass on the cigars, thanks.

Random addition, but...has anyone noticed that all the women on here are crazy beautiful?? ...just sayin'.

Hmmm...exciting doesn't = worldly. Very strange...

God made an amazing world and filled it with awesome places, people, creatures, etc. Trying/learning something new isn't ungodly, but I realize that it's not for everyone. If I were to remain in my own little sheltered world, I don't think I could ever feel as though I was doing all I could for the Kingdom of God. It's not just about personal growth and coming to know Him more deeply. It's lending a helping hand whenever/however possible and sharing that with as many people in as many ways as possible as well. It's the Great Commission. For me, THAT's exciting...even moreso if I could share it with someone else.
I agree. :) ... For me, there are many things I have planned on doing and would love to do (like skydiving) and places I would love to go (short term missions). My issue is, I would rather not do these things without a wife. Who likes to continually do these things alone? Conversely, there is also the chance I could meet a wife while doing these things. After all, it's no secret that if your looking for a spouse your probably going to find them sharing a mutual activity.

But... (and I'm not making excuses) some men are called to do less active things (teaching) and in this economy, finding the extra funds for traveling is not easy. That's not to say God can't provide, of course!

It's kind of like this: A) should we men spend our resources doing the things we love and hope God will reveal a special woman to us that way? OR B) Should we continue to work and save up money so we can do those things and visit those places with her and trust God will allow a woman to cross my path in our everyday lives?

I think the major point of the OP is that it is very difficult to carry out plan B while so many women seem like the woman who wrote the letter.

I shall join you your society, my good sir. We shall be similar to the Inklings except we shall discuss strictly theological works! *puts on monocle*

Boaring huh? Well I see where some women put men in general. They want their knight in shining armor. Me perhaps a Dork In dented armor. Ok ladies here it is DISNEY GAVE YOU UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS OF MEN. Yes Lois Lane fell in love with Superman and Sadly Clark Kent wasn't measuring up. So where does that leave us. The Armor of God might not mean your in the front lines of wars of this world but your prepared for the Battles that are comming for the next. Hmmm Men need to be men and plain and simple the way God wants us to be. If we aren't what you ladies see as Ideal well too bad so sad.

Not all ladies think this. The OP said this was only one person's rant letter. Her opinion isn't representing all womankind.

Few men actually want to live up to being the man, called by God, who would go anywhere and do anything for Him. Jesus said where your treasure is there your heart will be also. If a person wants to find a nice girl, go to a nice church, get a nice check, live a nice life, and serve God in a nice way. I don't have a problem with that but, they can't whine about having their cake and eating too.

If a person wants to win the heart of a devoted woman, find a church that promotes accountability and service, not worry about a check, and serve God in everything. This person's cake is awesome.

As Christians we are called to go after building up Christ's Kingdom and live out HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS and everything that we need to accomplish this will be given to us.

Which, this is a more personal note but, I think that a lot of what is asked of us from Jesus is taken lightly. Surely if people beat Him, they will beat us. If they mocked Him, they will mock us. If they laughed at Him, they will laugh at us. Unless, we are only surrounded by people who agree with us, we should know what it means to be a Christian. We should know our call to tell the world about Jesus, until everyone knows. And that sounds more like Superman than Clark Kent to me. A knight is known for his courage, as we should be as well. The world is much smaller, the task to find people made easier. This is a golden age of sharing the Gospel.

I was JUST talking with my best friend's mom about how we should rejoice in our persecution because it means we are living like Christ. How fantastic to suffer for His name's sake! To live a life total abandon for HIM! it was a good conversation.

To be fair, it’s not just guys who want to have their cake and eat it too. I’ve seen both genders have unrealistic expectations of one another:

- Guys who want Rachael Ray in the kitchen, Kari Jobe at church and being all submissive within the marriage, the perfect little mommy who can carry a baby on one hip, put Supernannies to shame and be Prez of the PTA, event planner for extended family, queen of the boardroom, super third world country evangelista AND Sheba in the bedroom.
- Women who want Prince Charming in the romance dept/to meet their mother, Tarzan in the bedroom, Bill Gates in the salary dept, John McClane when it comes to protecting his family, HGTV’s superhandyman Carter Oosterhouse *melt* to fix everything around the house, and Peter when it comes to evangelizing and blending marriage with matters of faith.

It’s tough to have it all, but far easier if a couple is willing to work tirelessly and unselfishly to make it happen…to put God and family first..and self DEAD LAST.

And not everyone can travel to some distant land to share the gospel, but that’s okay…we all have a HUGE mission field right where we live if we’d wake up and take a look around. Are all of your family members, friends and co-workers christians? Mine aren’t….yet :D

There are people in our churches and neighborhoods doing amazing things for the Kingdom. Some are even getting it done in these forums. THAT’s exciting J

Personally, I've found the opposite in my life. Ex's have wanted to tame me. I'm not designed for a ''stable'' 9 to 5 life with 2.5 kids and a mortgage. Come with me if you want, but where I'm going isn't for the faint of heart. Come with me if you dare face the dry dusty places where living is costly and life is cheap. Follow me if you know how to patch bullet wounds with one hand and pull on the hem of Christs garment with the other. If you will exchange christian pleasantries and comfy seats for hungry days and sleepless nights then come with me. I don't know how to live boring life without wanting, needing to escape from it anyway I can. And the best way I know how to find true life, true adventure, absolute satisfaction is in dying to myself and living powerfully and without restraint for my Jesus.

Come for me demons and taste Christ's cold steel,
Come here you broken and my Lord He will heal.
But stay there you lost for I come to you,
Carrying God's light both wise and so true.
For this is my debt to Him who died for me,
To live not for myself but instead now for thee.
I need not be troubled through hardship or strife,
As in my own death I now have true life.

Interesting topic here. I think what she means is that that they do not have hobbies and interest outside of church. You can do other activities and not be a worldly person. For instance, hiking, line dancing, sports etc.

I know exactly what the person is talking about. There are only a few single guys in my church but they are not very appealing because they lake common interests with the women. It's not that we want someone to keep us entertained, but we want someone to enjoy life with, have experiences with, maybe teach us some new things. But if all you do is go to work and then come home and sit on your butt and or play videoa games we are not interested.

Cheeky, did you write that cool poem? I pasted it into the search engine bar, but nothing came up, and this post makes it sound like you penned those verses....with some help from above, I'm sure :).

Yes Jilly81. I can throw words together to produce some reasonably entertaining results when I can be bothered. I used to do it a lot more but I try to speak very plainly as much as I can now just to aid communication with the widest audience possible.
